labor day meaning to me

hey there family and friends happy Labor Day to you got a question what does Labor Day mean to you well to me the man who taught me about labor was Mr Fel my dad known by Uncle fee to many of his family he was a man that worked hard and took care of his family I was raised over in Cabrini Green with my dad and my mom my dad would get up every morning and go to work and soon as I was at age to go with him he allowed me to go with him and that might have been around 14 13 14 years old as long as I got up in the morning with him which was around about 5:00 he would make breakfast and he was headed out the door by 5:30 6:00 on the CTA bus heading to the fields he was construction they stacked bricks and they Dem they T they tore down buildings some of my friends and family would remember this C if you wanted a job Mr fizel would allow you to go out to the field with him he wasn't prejudiced against anybody if you wanted to go out to work he would give you an opportunity he would either show you how to do the work stacking bricks or he would have one of the guys in the field teach you how to do it now this wasn't easy labor this was kind of rough but if you really wanted to make some money back in the days and you needed a job he would always give you an opportunity it was never a problem he would you would get paid at the end of the day and he would tell you where the next job site would be at he would give you instructions on how to get there he knew his way around the city better than any GPS and far as keeping track of the workers in the field he would keep track of the bricks that they stacked the money that he owed them and once I challenged him cuz he was adding up stuff on a piece of paper and I couldn't understand his writing and it looked like shorthand to me but that dude could add and multiply just as fast as I can tap the numbers into a calculator I never understood that my dad didn't have a high school diploma but he would run that site he would run those workers if any of them had a problem he would be talking to them consoling them letting them know what they needed to do what not to do and he took care of his guys in the field and they took care of him but I saw he not only taught me but he taught many of them what the meaning of labor was what the meaning of taking care of your family what the meaning of getting up in the morning going to take care of your business cuz you had respons responsibilities in life so no matter what people say about Mr Fel I say he was the true true meaning of Labor thank you family and friends have a good rest of the day
