thanks Dan an ongoing discussion on the possibility of closing some area schools has people speaking up with declining enrollment deficit budgets and aging buildings the fac recently passed along its recommendations for possible school closings within the school district of Lacrosse News 19's Carly swisser brings us to Monday night's school board meeting to hear from those fighting to keep the schools open I taught there for the best 18 years of my career please take a cleare eyed look at at this remarkable School seven speakers at Monday night's school board meeting for the District of Lacrosse they choiced my brothers and I into Northwoods because of the wonderful opportunities the school has offered such as the Spanish Immersion program almost all pleading for the board to recognize what Northwoods international school has to offer enough about me I'm here to talk about the Northwoods building Betsy Stannard part of the original Northwood staff taught their there for 11 years the architect on the project when he came with his mockup of the new school we knew he had created something special bringing with her a diarama of the school to help prove her point it's a young school it's a good building a well-designed happy building that children can learn in and teachers feel very comfortable teaching in speaking up for the schools at risk of closing after the facility advisory committee passed along its recommendations of hinin Spence Northwoods and Emerson elementaries to the lacrosse School Board school districts have been in a challenging position over the last um you know 13 14 years with um very limited Revenue to educate our students and in the school district of Lacrosse we've also experienced pretty significant declining enrollment the board hearing the community we want to provide the best possible education for every student and so sometimes we have to tackle difficult decisions like these and um the the board will take up the issue in short order and the community hearing each other the message I heard was we don't need to close any schools we need to look at our schools and work at getting more students there and we can with vision reporting in Lacrosse news9 Carly swisser again no final decisions have been made but the facilities advisory committee did vote to recommend that hinin be the one to close and superintendent angle says anyone with concerns or questions should attend their next meeting which takes place November 27th and the 29th
