stick it out and set himself up to compete next year for the starting job once Jaylen milro is off to the NFL this is the current quarterback depth chart for Alabama Jaylen milro Ty Simpson did get positive Praise by the way for his spring game performance Austin Mack who was a transfer kind of sort of weird thing there but it was at Washington out Alabama and Dylan loner again who I think is quarterback four so he could push Mac for B3 but I think Simpson is pretty clearly entrenched as the backup for the Crimson Tide he has played very sparingly in his time in the NFL or in college football excuse me had the the brief appearance uh in a game that mattered against uh South Florida where it was very clear okay he is better than Tyler Buckner who is now playing The Cross by the way at Notre Dame put that in perspective uh Simpson backup who he is um at least for now with the upside to be more than that he is is the only quarterback in the 2022 class on the roster right now for the Crimson Tide you go four deep it's probably about what you want in terms of depth in the modern day free agency world of college football Ty Simpson has previously said this about you know you know when he committed Etc with especially looking at Ma Jones's story I'm not going in there thinking I'm starting day one if I play one year of a year like M Jones did I can fulfill my dreams in the NFL I appreci appreciate this mentality I especially and I I get that it makes a lot of sense for a lot of players to go chase playing time to maximize their own potential NFL earnings but you always like it when a guy goes I just need one year it's all I need so I I will be patient and wait my turn which was a staple of the B program for so long not going to be as feasible with the modern day college football you know transfer portal and everything Simpson has continuously showed growth I thought he looked and I'm sure prod I thought he looked better in the spring game this year than what he did last year I think last year there was some I remember the Highlight Reel of Tai Simpson it was like check down throws I'm like this is not showcasing what you think it's showcasing was much better I thought in the spring game I think with the way this team is built with the mentality there is the the main goal for Bama right championship upside is always what you're searching for so I I think Simpson staying is a good thing because you need to have depth at the most important position on the field so what is your excitement level over Tai Simpson deciding to stay scale it for me from on the football field but I think that if you were to ask Bama right now who do you think starts it's Proctor and pritet in some capacity Proctor was a bit slow to start the 2023 campaign that led to the text from the Iowa staff saying hey you're going to be keep keep your head down you're it's all going to work out for you that led to the tampering and then that whole Whirlwind cycle right there what I am curious about even is you know does they do they put Proctor back at left tackle because in general I don't like trying to flip-flop sides on the offens especially young guys some people can do it but you know it's kind of like drawing like some people can draw with the right hand easily and their left hand too not everyone can most people can learn it not everyone actually can though so I'm very curious how that all ends up playing out for the Crimson Tide in terms of who starts where but the return of Proctor makes me feel much better about this offensive line so who gets left out defensive back from Georgia Tech uh I get a little bit anxious when you have m multiple time transfers because that means you just something wasn't right for you at two different spots and it you know maybe it's maybe it's your fault maybe it's you're not and maybe it's not but I get a little bit anxious there and I think that I'll get better about that as we get further along into the portal era when that becomes more you know frequent began his career at Auburn a four-star recruit back in 2020 number 195 overall they number 16th ranked safety now from a safety depth perspective bam is probably fine so could he play that husky kind of nickel Corner hybrid role or go play outside corner of note Georgia Tech did list him as a corner and I would think this is a depth piece you know Auburn to Georgia Tech to Bama isn't you know onet toone movement kind of going from Auburn down a level to up a level but you need to find depth I I want to have some veteran depth which is kind of a highly intriguing to me in part because of the Jaylen hail update we got from Molly McGrath during the aday on the sidelines says Kore told her he'll probably miss the majority if not all of the regular season but he could be available near the end of the year it's too soon to tell but right now it's not looking good so I'm going to treat hail as a bonus he plays great I don't think he will and I'm not going to bank on him playing either kls Keandre Lambert Smith had 600 plus yards last season for Penn States amid an offense that you know wasn't that great if if we're being honest uh Drew Aller you he looks the part but he not doesn't play the part uh very often right there he got the frame I like the athletic ability the arm strength and I thought his footwork was a mess in the spring game I did not think it was very good I did watch that one too because I have no life uh receiver wise more production than I think over his career than I think everyone else combined R alama's roster don't quote me on that or you at least you can do the math and see how far off I am but it's pretty damn close to it uh Jeremy Bernard Kendrick law Kobe Apprentice Caleb Olden Emanuel Henderson you know Ryan Williams is going to come in the summer he'll be here soon but he's not you know a piece right now depth isn't a concern but you know if you get a bigger impact guy it's interesting to
