New tonight. A big change on how the commanders are memorializing the late Sean Taylor. This afternoon, the team announced that they will build a new statue to honor Taylor. The safety was in his fourth season with the Washington Commanders when he was shot and killed during a robbery attempt in 2007, Sean Taylor's death cut short a promising career that seemed destined for greatness. The team honored Taylor two seasons ago with a memorial at Commander Field. Many fans called the tribute a disappointment and the team is listening a statement from the team says in part, quote, we realized that the installation fell short in honoring one of the franchise's most iconic players together with the Taylor family. We are working on a plan which includes unveiling a statue that will rightfully celebrate the legacy and impact that Sean had on our organization fan base and community.
