these past two days are usually the toughest in the month of August for any general manager in the National Football League those final days of roster Cuts as the team makes its way down to 53 players before the start of the season one of the Marquee offseason questions was who is going to be the kicker in Green Bay after releasing both Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph the Packers have signed Braden naron off the Tennessee Titans practice squad here is what general manager Brian gakin had to say you know we were going to try to to to to get better there and whether that was Anders or that was somebody from outside it didn't matter but we needed to get better we felt we needed to get better and um so you know that that's that's kind of the reason why um we made the decision the team also has its backup quarterback and once again the answer was found in Tennessee the team traded a seventh round pick in next year's draft for quarterback Malik Willis head coach Matt lefur expects the transition to be smooth he's a pretty smart guy we've had an opportunity to meet with him and um it's not like you're getting a rookie in here he does have obviously a foundation and it's just you know translating what he's learned in the past and um you know putting it into our terms for the guys who had nothing to worry about on Cut day their focus has been on Philadelphia for months veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark knows the defense is up for a tough task when they take on the Eagles offense next Friday lot of different elements you know to their run game uh so it's definitely going to be tough uh you know sequan is a great player played him a lot uh during my career uh so you know we got we going to have our hands full um but you know it's a different team it's a different defense uh so I'm excited for the challenge so the 53 man roster is set for the Green Bay Packers just nine days before their season opener in Brazil against the Philadelphia Eagles a 2024 season with high expectations here at Lambo field I'm Drew Chelly news watch 12
