Nintendo is a great company they make amazing games and really cool consoles but they keep making very avoidable mistakes for some of their most important features in products and people hate them for it underpowered Hardware shutting down fan tournaments making games and then just removing them I want to come up with fixes for all of these mistakes so fans no longer hate them and to do this we need to start with oh no every console has a service that you have to pay for in order to play games online but they often come with other benefits to sweeten the deal for example PlayStation and Xbox give you free access to a library of games along with a whole Suite of features that improve your online gaming experience Nintendo saw this wanted to copy it and failed miserably for starters their online experience sucks trying to play games like Super Smash Bros online is borderline impossible it's almost always laggy and if one person leaves a match it ends for everyone secondly their attempt at offering free games with the service just isn't worth it well PlayStation and Xbox are offering hundreds of brand new games Nintendo is only offering a handful of retro games from a few of their old consoles this alone is enough to make even the most hardcore fans angry but at least it only costs $20 a year so I'll let them off the hook is what I would say if you didn't have to pay more than double that for half of the features for $20 a year you can only play some of the games you only get access to their three older systems the NES the SNES and The Game Boy in order to play games from Less Old systems like the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Boy Advance you have to pay $50 a year is what I would say if you could actually play them not only did these games barely work when they launched the library is so limited that I'm really questioning its existence in the first place now to be fair they have slowly been drip feeding more titles for the N64 Game Boy Advance and Sega Genesis but given that these games are like 100 years old or something they really shouldn't take that long to put on switch online with PlayStation and Xbox this drip feeding approach makes sense because these companies are actually releasing new games for their online service when they come out not only is Nintendo's offering absurdly overpriced it's also very poorly executed hence this is one of the biggest reasons why Nintendo's most hardcore fans hate them so how did it all go so wrong there's actually a very simple reason to why their online experience is so bad and alongside that a very simple solution you see when you play a game online your console and everyone else's connects to a server this means that if one person's lagging is only going to affect them however Nintendo didn't want to pay for dedicated servers so when you play one of their games each console connects to every other console directly meaning if one person lags everyone lags this has gotten so bad that even the creator of Super Smash Bros started begging you to play with a wired connection or else it just won't work so the solution to this is simple just start using dedicated servers but what about their free games and why is their service so expensive [Laughter] when Nintendo's expansion pack first launched it introduced two new consoles the Nintendo 64 and the Sega Genesis now I know what you're thinking why would you add a Sega console to Nintendo switch online and I'm thinking the same thing honestly there's really no reason for this people don't care about Sega games so it's just an unnecessary cost that's adding to the service but it gets worse and here's where my Theory comes into play you see Nintendo can't just add these games to switch online without Sega smiting them with a million dmca so they likely have to pay them a lot of money to license them I reckon this is quite a large amount that they regularly have to pay and that cost gets directly slapped onto the price of the expansion pack or should I say the expensive pack I'm sorry so here's what we can do to fix this we clearly need to remove the useless Sega games to reduce the cost but that leaves a big gaping hold in the service so we'll replace it with something better GameCube and wi game while this would still cost Nintendo money to implement I believe it would still be cheaper than licensing Sega stuff this is because one they obviously don't have to license their own games and two they already have methods of getting these games to run on the switch back in 2020 Nintendo released a little game called Super Mario 3D Allstar featuring a Mario game from the N64 the GameCube and the Wii in order to achieve this they had to create what's called an emulator this essentially tricks the games into thinking that they're running on their respective console I.E Mario Galaxy thinks it's being played on the Wii what's really interesting is that these emulators can be reused for other games we could use these emulators that they've already made to just bring their GameCube and Wii games to switch online thus still keeping it really cheap you're welcome Nintendo so we've improved the online experience made the expansion pack cheaper and added more games to be played but this is just a small part of a wider problem that Nintendo is facing and just fixing this isn't enough to stop Nintendo fans from hating them so now let's talk [Music] about what I thought you just used that as a solution not Nintendo's emulation other people's emulation for a good while now customers have faced a paradox they want to play some of Nintendo's old games but Nintendo doesn't sell them anymore so the only realistic way to get them is to download an emulator on a computer and play them that way but Nintendo doesn't like that because they don't make any money this way but again this is the only reasonable way to play without shelling out a million dollars for an old console and the original game but Nintendo doesn't like that so they find any possible way to hit these emulators with a lawsuit so big that they just cease to exist like we all will with the heat death of the universe that ends everything the issue with this is that it's a lose lose lose situation the emulator companies die the players can't play their games and Nintendo just loses a bunch of money trying to play emulator wacka mall so why doesn't Nintendo use all this money they're spending to create an official way to play these games either adding them to switch online or through selling them on the eShop that way players won't have to use emulators to play these games and Nintendo will actually start making money as for the emulators they can still exist as they'll be seen as a much smaller threat to Nintendo's business speaking of business that leads us to our next problem as you've probably gathered by now Nintendo fans have a LoveHate relationship with Nintendo and there's a lot of hate this toxic relationship ship is fueled by the high prices of things and nothing sticks out more than their expensive games which would you rather buy 5 seven-year-old games or a iPad breath of the wild Splatoon 2 Mario Kart 8 Mario Odyssey arms all $60 the issue fans have with Nintendo games isn't necessarily their price or should I say their starting price they make really great titles that I would consider are worth every penny when they're brand new the real issue is that these games never get discounted for example The Legend of Zelda breath of the wild is 7 and 1/2 years old now with a sequel that took its Throne over a year ago and yet it's still $60 but there's actually a very good reason for this that people seem to forget people are stupid Nintendo themselves have said that they don't discount their games because people will just wait to buy them when they're cheaper this is obviously an issue because people like spending less money do I really need to spell it out for you God damn but I have a fix for this and so does Nintendo for the past few console Generations Nintendo's been releasing a new series of games at the end of each console's life Nintendo selects these are their most popular games but now sold at around 40% of their original price and it's quite clever because they release these all at once and only at the end of a console's life there's no way to predict when it will happen and fans can't just wait a year to get the game discounted it also makes customers happy because they can buy games that they wouldn't have otherwise bought at a really decent price so Nintendo's actually solved their own problem they just haven't done it for the switch yet but there's something much much worse that they haven't solved yet something that really gets on people's nerves and has tainted Nintendo's reputation and that's as a Nintendo YouTuber this is something that looms over me every single day and it doesn't help that I'm edging a copyright strike from Nintendo by releasing a fake switch 2 trailer they say there's no such thing as bad publicity but when most news headlines about Nintendo are things like them finding people $14 million for selling hacks it makes me not believe that saying Nintendo actually has a prettyy evil side to them that you often don't see they're like an angel and a devil jacel and Hyde or Mario and Luigi on one hand they're a lovable company that just creates a bunch of fun but on the other hand they're a ruthless business that will go to Great measures to get anything they want even at the detriment to people's livelihoods take for example Gary Bowser who was sentenced to 40 months in prison and finded $4 million for selling wayte to Pirate games his reaction could be worse but Nintendo's brutality extends to even their biggest fans and that's a huge issue Nintendo fans are dedicated and a lot of them like making fan games just out of pure love for the franchises take for example Mario Royale an amazing free playable love lesser to Nintendo's most iconic franchise with a modern Twist of playing with a 100 others online dmca why what can we do to stop Nintendo from ruining fans Creations well as it turns out one very similar company has a solution to this they also have have a mascot are based in Japan and have been making games since the 80s se Sega does what nintend don't rather than shutting down any game celebrating their franchises they embrace them and even encourage them this is the right thing to do as it only makes fans even bigger fans of franchises rather than the other way around also people are just straight up making cool games for them in fact sometimes these games are so good that Sega hires the creators of them to make official games so here's what what we need to do we can change up Nintendo's dmca Rules by having them only take down fan games that are made with ill intent or designed to be profited off of that way fans can still make games while not negatively impacting Nintendo going further with this Nintendo should still keep an eye on these fans games and take notice if they spot any incredible talent that they could use this then benefits both the fan creators and Nintendo you can punish people for doing illegal things just don't go so out of control that it makes you look like the bad guy it feels like an abuse of power boom solved if Nintendo listens to all of these Solutions I guarantee you their fans will no longer hate them we've just solved Nintendo's biggest issues but they probably won't listen
