Week 1: Boise State @ Georgia Southern #eaprediction

[Applause] welcome to Statesboro Georgia and what many refer to as the prettiest little stadium in America and home to the Georgia Southern Eagles but trust me it can get a little ugly if you come in here and you're not an eagle what an exciting matchup we have in for you this afternoon built around the pageantry tradition and everything that makes college football green as we'll see a squad from the Mountain West the boyy State Broncos taking on a team from the Sunbelt the George the southern Eagles glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it up the Broncos will put total Le to crank us up and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 so Georgia Southern's offense will get the first possession of the game and this guy is a big time star just an electricity follows him onto the field he's a Workhorse too Reese this is a definition of a Bellow running back he can carry the load for his offense and put his football team on his back linebackers have such an amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the Run aggressively getting downhill and getting in the back field and making the tackle for a loss Georgia Southern in a [Applause] hurry from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing in this point this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long Williams will pass and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 man you can't draw it up any better than that first possession Force the third down you want to shut the home crowd up sack the quarterback create some momentum now you're getting the football back to your offense probably with great field position Georgia Southern brings on the punt team doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt you'll call for the fair catch here the Broncos offense will try to get something going with their first possession as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these and the ball's on the ground they were lucky that fumble went out of bounds they'll maintain possession when you start to get that offense going and start having success you've got to make sure when you get closer to the scoring range I take care of that football if you don't coach is going to go you on the sideline you in the game they'll snap this one from the 42 it's first and 10 a stri downfield really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down yeah and that play takes some protection if you're going to stick it in the belly and that rde receiver is going to run down the field that far I need some good protection and I need my lineman not to go down field nice job by the quarterback making the right read being patient throwing that [Applause] strike looking to go up top on first down and and the ball is intercepted and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and the Freshman just showed those great ball skills and snatched it right out of the air and that's just excellent cover man cover one nowhere to throw the football look at everybody playing man across the board and you still got the safety in the middle of the field nobody open and if I'm the QB man I don't need to force it I I Don't Force It In The Tight Windows if it's not there he throws it unfortunately gets the interception bad decision by the QB there Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense trying to start the drive with a pass holds it in on the left open Runway ahead touchdown Georgia sou and once he found open space the band might as well start playing when you have so many Playmakers on offense like they do they can score quickly just saw it right [Music] [Applause] there they'll try to add another to their lead and the pat makes it seven nothing that's the kind of Drive everybody loves so see quarterback One Snap put it in the end zone about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown on the run from inside zone five good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man boy state has it back ready to go to work on offense that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no you've got to be able to finish drives especially in this game if you're going to win in David they've got to be able to eliminate the metal mistakes yeah and I don't think you get conservative or play it safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four quarterback on the keeper a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior it's a nice job by this defense understand listen that keep me is and they're going to run all kinds of options and he's going to run the football they were dialed in and got that supper the right they'll try to move the chains on Third and short from the 25 to the ground to try to pick up the first slam to the ground but not before he gets the first down all right defense that's that's what we can't do we can't give up this many chunk yards on the ground got to commit more guys to the line of scrimmage got to get those running backs on the ground that's way too easy and the Broncos come to the line with a new set of downs trying to surprise him with the the pass got his man quickly and he delivers the blow and he's still running speeding down the left side and he takes it all the way they couldn't stop him touchdown Broncos an unbelievable timing with the quarterback and wide receiver get it to him in his hands right on his frame where he can run after the catch and do some serious damage and and that's why he's so dangerous because of that ability after the catch for these DBS and this game you've got to tackle the reception because if you don't get him down he's taking it to the [Applause] house getting set for the point after [Applause] exra and it's perfect quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the score comes on a huge play in the passing game covering 67 yds to The End Zone after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again and he's going to bring it out stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again a quick strike touchdown up top the left last time they had it Jesse they'd love to do it again no doubt they've got so many Playmakers on the perimeter David just find a way to get these guys the ball in space and you already started man making that big play opening up this offense this quarterback is feeling good about himself I wouldn't be surpris if they give it right back to him linebackers trying to create some confusion georia Southern in a hurry they'll throw it on first down he finds his man that's a good job by the drag route there understanding it Zone coverage so instead of continuing to run across the field he settles down into an open spot making it easy for his quarterback that completion leaves us with second and medium Williams looking for a man makes the grab on the left they'll move the chains after he gets it to the 43 yd line that's a bang bang play three step slant they rep this over and over in practice so they can go out and execute it on game day like that now on first down from the 43 yd line the give on the inside he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three com [Applause] last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 out of the gun they'll run it inside and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that on the play Third Down coming up here they come facing third and long from the 40 from the gun wants to pass with the catch it's white and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop he just didn't have a chance to get loose and make his way to that first down marker and I think fans get upset sometimes like run your route past the sticks so he get the first down but nice job by the defense understanding where the sticks were and forcing the fourth down fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way looking everywhere for room to run but really good coverage and he'll step out of bounds boyy State ready to send out that offense this could be a real turning point in the game they scored a touchdown they got a stop and now a chance to break the tie yeah this offense has got it cooking man and how about the defense great job getting that stop getting the football right back to the hot hand now this offense Palmer has a chance to take the lead you could see the offense too they understand the situation right now they were jonesing on the sidelines to get another opportunity to run back on the field they are ready to drive this ball and go score pulls and fires it complete to the right I like the slot receiver because he gives his quarterback a good option working the middle of the field he's a nice weapon in this [Applause] offense let's see what they've got on second down he'll keep it himself that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there as a defensive guy L you're always zoomed into the quarterback I mean these guys they're whether they're throwing the football or running it at least they have the football in their hands every time you know where they're going to be you focus in the defense locked and low to understand what they were trying to accomplish doing a good job getting to the quarterback and then make those physical Hits Count finish those finish those tackles with aggressive hits make that quarterback F you for a whole length of a game I think that might might be an example of the running back maybe trying to do a little bit too much everybody wants to try to bounce the ball outside and hit the home run but in college football at this level you just need to do a better job taking what the defense gives up fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense from the gun running back on the move works his way into the traffic and picks up three to the 17 yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the challenge Georgia Southern in a hurry Williams will pass and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line how nice is it as a defense when you can drop seven guys in a coverage only Rush four and still get home that makes you feel good if you're the D coordinator [Applause] you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 looking to throw they've got the screen set up they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front RW to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back hey man sometimes you get the perfect play call at the perfect time that time the defense blitzing offensive line allowed everybody to run up field and they slip in the running back screen and behind it there was nobody there to make a tackle and this offense generates a massive play quick pass on the jet motion he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play I like offenses being creative I'm not sure if that was the best place to call that play I think this offense needs to think about just doing things a little bit more by the book they've got a lot of good Playmakers you don't have to reinvent the wheel this early in the game quarterback wants to throw on second down and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep probably the toughest call on the play sheet third and long ball at the 25 he'll just keep slinging it fires to the wide out he's got it he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down that's great timing by the quarterback and receiver on that out route if you're going to be running that against man coverage like they were there that ball has to be thrown early and it's got to be thrown out in front of the receiver and they execute it perfectly looking for a physical attack from the gun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and it's a great play by the defensive end the most athletic players on the field play defensive end Yes you heard me Jess Reese exactly what I said great get off great job getting the Back Field making the play Georgia Southern in a hurry wide out in motion give to the running back and a nice solid pick up there before the defense rustles him to the ground offensive lineman love to run the power why you run power you run power then you can play action you don't want that defense to be sitting there saying it's a pass it's a pass having to pass block every play you got to keep defense is off bals even if they don't convert picking up a few would give them a decision to make on fourth down is third and long from the 45 gets it out quickly that'll be enough for a first down as he crosses to 50 and gets it to the 48 the Eagles come to the line with a fresh set of downs quickly to the tight end and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few I like this tight end he does a really nice job on his route running he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots and zones you got to get him involved here comes the offense on second down they go to the ground and after the tackle we are headed to the end of the first quarter3 yd entertaining first quarter and we are all locked up after one as we take a quick look at some stats we've got a good one going here and looking forward to keep those vibes rolling here in the second on Third and long trying to have a big completion here he's got it inside the 15 and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end and this defense is going to have their hands full because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys oneon-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got to need better effort in the back end for this defense moving forward Williams looking for a man makes the grab and to the end zone touchdown Eagles I tell you when this drive started the defense thought they had them in a hole not anymore what a performance and I really like the play calling by the offensive coordinator on that last drive that was a nice mixture of running and throwing and getting different players involved really nice job very poised in that play calling and it showed up with a [Applause] touchdown they'll try to attack one more on their score and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead precise Relentless execution on that 13pl scoring drive and they finish it off by connecting from 10 yds out lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive here he comes from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more d but they get him on the ground at the 20 the Bronco offense back out there ready to give it another spin the give to the back and you can forget running in the middle against this defense you got to have that defense you know you can go to in running situations your base defense where you say okay this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to stop the run stuff it up front my guys play Big up front then if I need to add some blitzes to it later on down the road I can but great job in the base defense making the play wants to fire on second down got his man makes the tackle at the 30 after he picked up 10 when you run those routes those curl routes just like that those DBS are going to break when you go to throw the football so you better put that thing on a line and the QB did there put on a line great job great catch first down they'll snap this one from the 30 on First and 10 looking to move it through the air and he had it for a second second but it just dribbled out of his hands man he was open he had an opportunity just got of look that thing a lot of times guys are catching it and as they're catching it you see their head start to turn to try to think about getting up field and they just lose that concentration for a second little missed opportunity there for this offense on the ground it's Genty finds his way for three after the 33 and offens is want to continue to feature the Run they want balance even if it's not super successful you can take it little bit at a time just to keep that defense [Applause] on they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on third down going up top caught near the sideline it's Genty he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the six L the running backs are not not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting the football letting them get some positive yards the Broncos have their offense in high gear he'll come out throwing on first down finds his big tight end he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down really good concept there to get things going and use the tight end early yeah I mean just such a great great job on first down setting up an easier second down understanding I don't always have to push the ball down the field but see the tight end make the throw no it's not a big gain what makes life really easy on the on second down free snap Motion in the back field he makes the connection and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a run and the Broncos will have it first and 10 from the gun he leaves it with the back really nice stop there from this senior leader Run game is good balance is good now listen if the Run game isn't good then you got to pass the football a little bit more but sometimes you got to keep him honest take him chunk by chunk didn't get much on first down on it's second and nine here's the handoff some belief in that running game as they pick up five to the 35 yd line and runs like that are like body blows in a boxing match four five six yd gains early turn into 20 30 40 yard gains later they really wear down defenses and they test their physic out defense with a chance to put a stop to this drive night snap coming at third and four not quite in Rhythm there incomplete really nice job by the defense the offense has the whole Playbook open to him on Third and short they try to slip in the screen did not F the defense at all nice stop by the defense they'll try to get something out of this drive and kick the field goal here on fourth down he's going to reach for a long one a 52 yd attempt it's good he could have hit a string right in the middle of the uprights there how nice is it as a head coach to have a kicker like this it makes these decisions on fourth down so much easier just trut him out there and let him stroke it through the uprights after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away let's see what he can do with the return and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next Drive Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again they Unleashed an aerial assault last time that took them right to the end zone David So ree with that drive I think you've accomplished something you wanted to accomplish make this defense think put them back on their heels now shoot Palmer you might be able to slip a few runs in on this drive to really Jack him up yeah I like that idea but I also like the fact that speed kills they've got it at the receiver position so if you got one-on-one matchups man take advantage Williams will pass might be looking to run Nifty little Scamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely most offensive coordinators want to be really aggressive on second and short and I love the quarterback here he drops back the pass thinking being aggressive nothing available scramble give me an easy first down Georgia Southern in a hurry hand off from the gun he make the stop after a gain of three to the 31 it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards handle football off set up a good second [Applause] down after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven and off from the shotgun just ran him over pushes ahead for a couple they'll mark it at the 33 at 33 y third coming linebackers moving trying to confuse the quarterback here on third down will they go back to the running [Applause] game from the gun wants to pass trying to get to it they get it a rush and it pays off the sack at the 20 well they've still got the lead but they are losing the momentum and the defense is starting to make plays after getting that last sack they can feel it right now you can see them playing with a whole lot of more energy there's a lot of pressure on this offense Now to [Applause] respond Georgia Southern brings on the punt team [Applause] not able to pop the big return but they've got the ball back and ready to go with a fresh possession boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense finds the tight end a seven yd pickup it'll be second and three that's why the good Lord invented tight ends isn't it David get a good pick up on first down open up the entire Playbook and it just makes life so easy on quarterbacks I mean you got these guys that are so gifted athletically that you can do everything with them they're like overgrown wide receivers and now understanding zones and how to attack them it's just unbelievable when you got these kind of big athletes fires to the tight end really putting together a threat now they get the first hits at the 37 well I know the tight end did some good things after the catch but got to give the quarterback credit to for the location of the throw because he put it out in front of his big man he was able to make the catch an ex cerate creating some distance there between him and the defense they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 going to run it it's Genty and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good [Applause] spot got three on first down it's second and seven leaves it with the running back not much room to run let's give him one to the [Music] [Music] 33 now on third down for this offense scanning the field it's Nelson looking to take a shot and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on got to give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in you're in field goal range what do you do here looks as if they'll send out the field goal unit he's already made one field goal but this one is going to need a big leg a 50 yard attempt coming he bomed it through a 50yd field goal showing off that powerful leg well that kid just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with ease [Applause] so they were able to put up a three spot on that last drive and now the kickoff team out there as they prepare to put boot to leather on the move from inside is five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense On The Run it's white finally way run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down those outside runs if they can get the edge like they do great job by the Right Guard right tackle getting the edge and now what does this do this makes quarterbacks come up and Tackle safeties come up in tackle as opposed to linebackers and big defensive players you get your guy out in the space where he can use his speed and his physicality against guys that usually cover and don't come up and make tackles shakes off the defender a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense Georgia Southern in a hurry Williams looking for a man quick strike complete they get him on the ground but it's a first down how about this offense they're rolling they got a couple first downs together defense next what's your response what do you got you got to make some adjustments here linebackers shuffling around trying to keep the quarter back from getting a read fast motion from the offense from the gun give on the inside and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chance and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before two-minute warning he's looking to throw excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away a lot of times when that Ball's coming out you can tell the offensive lineman want to get those defensive lineman hands down they want to hit him engage on him great job by the defensive end getting his hands up in the and getting the deflection that last incomplete pass has him staring at a third and three looking to throw for it all kinds of room to throw that one in there and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes a stop man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them his big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different trying to find his man on first down he's got it on the Move touchdown eagle and they add six more to the more with that trip to the house these two have spent plenty of time together that was almost telepathic David no doubt in quarterbacks and wide receivers throw all off seon to get on the same page you can see he hits him in stride that's why gets the [Music] [Applause] touchdown lining up for the p and they kick it through for the extra point and they have point lead an 884 yd drive there and they finish it with an 11 yd touchdown D kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go he'll start the return inside as five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 boy State ready to send out that off offense you want to talk about having a weapon to bail out a drive David that's why kickers are so important after that long field goal and listen important is a relative term we need to make longer passes and get better gains so we don't have to kick long field goals Palmer again on offense and they've got the weapons to do that David they just got to be able to dial those plays up guys have to be able to make them one-on-one to make life easier on this kicker who is so important to this team wants to throw on first down and the pressure gets to him down goes the quarterback there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer that's the last thing you want as an offense a negative play a sack on first down setting up the screen at the 45 on it way he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense well they pick up the first down there on the screen I love the offensive line there allowing the pass rush to get way up the field they completely baited their guys made them think that they got beaten that they were going to get the sack and then they sneak the running back SC right in behind them and pick up the first that's caught it's Genty they make the stop right there good pick up it's still short of the first down just keep giving him the easy catches until they do something to stop it yeah you're going to dictate to the defense you're going to make the defense cover him up and then obviously it leaves the middle of the field a little bit more wide open for receiver for a tight end so QB keeps making the right decision getting the ball the running back and he's making plays got his man down the middle we've got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break and you got to love the versatility of the big F you can put him in the box and let him block big defensive lineman or you put him in the slot and you throw him the football and have success to the air it's Nelson he's right on target put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the change with the first down well this defense is being challenged in this secondary in particular and I know a DB made the tackle there but we're only in the second quarter and already this quarterback has over 200 yards passing the Broncos racing to the line in the hurry [Applause] up they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays so this field goal unit has been getting the job done they've already made a couple here today and he missed it no good boy they could have used that field goal to draw a little closer but still an eight-point game that's just a chip shot that's just a field goal they got to make [Music] guys so the offense has done its job they have the lead and they'll secure it as we head to halftime and they won't try another play instead taking a knee and they'll head to the locker room that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with a halftime update gentlemen you had yourselves a superb broadcast so far today in Statesboro toughest job inside that Stadium right now might just be the scoreboard operator after all those first downs and touchdowns big plays have to find this one thanks to two of the best receiving core in all of college football let's see if these defenses can adjust and make the necessary chest moves and with that let's send it back to the guys inside the prettiest little stadium in [Music] America and the Eagles will try to kick this one deep to get things underway in the second half he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Bronco offense back out there ready to give it another spin they start this third quarter one possession game and hoping to get an early drive going this offense is ready and they're ready to take the field here and see if they can get something established they don't have to change everything and reinvent the wheel they've had some successes in the first half so let's get that continued here on the opening ground yeah and I love getting that break at half to go talk with my coaches and pick my offensive coordinator's brain so I know exactly what I need to do to attack this defense and I get ball first they'll try the run and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down well I love the job by the offensive line getting a good push there on second down and you see guys bleeding into the second level of the defense getting a hat on hat to go get that first will snap it on first down from the 35 might as well give it to him again gives him a little shake and he's got some room I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points and the Broncos moving quick quickly to the line trying to move them on the counter they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one offense trying to go in some misdirection in the Run game to the boundary but the defense was there they're able to Coral the back behind the line scrimmage for a loss they've got some to do on this third and long from the 40 back to throw it's Nelson unloads to the Wi out got his man to the left knocked down immediately but a big gain down to the 45 and because the receiver was able to drive back to the QB on that curl route against man coverage he was able to create a little bit of separation between him and the defender and that was a big key in getting that first the Broncos are flying down the field here's the give off the left side give him a couple on that one second and eight coming [Applause] up2 went to the running game on first down now here they come again on second down just keeps firing got a man and that defense pushing him out of bounds after a short gain guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be first little I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can defend on they've been able to control the ball this is the seventh play of the drive it's third and three they'll try to pick up the first through the air and the heat gets home they knock him down back at the 45 that's a good example there of complimentary defense the DBS and linebackers are playing Zone they're playing their spaces and they force the QB to to have to hold the ball try to work through his progressions and then the pass rush they win up front [Applause] and the Broncos will line up to pun it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away no return possible on this one it goes out of bounds and they'll mark it right around the 30 yd line Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again to the air on first down grabbed over the middle it's p to the 43 yd line and a first down for this offense man is so important when you play QB I got to know when to put some air on it and I got to know when to rocket that thing in there work in the middle of the field he knew he needed the rocket threw it in there great job great catch Georgia Southern in a hurry wide receiver shows motion from the gun the running back has it and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it didn't get much on first down it's second and nine gives it to the back on the draw they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down and you can see why it's so tricky for a defense to have to stop these draw plays Everything the offense is doing is telling you pass the quarterback the offensive line the running back's delaying you've taken your deep drop and coverage and now you've got to rally and find the football and do it trying to avoid these big 300lb bodies running at you full speed not an enviable t picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down Williams will pass he's got an open man and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chain and you see the receiver he's got to push up field make it look like he's going deep but does a really good job sitting down on that curl catching the ball and then as soon as you catch that thing on that Cur route get up field get positive yards nice route by that wide receiver off the play fake on first down wants to throw got his man on the right a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down they knew they could slip that tight end behind the backers with that play action fake well it's because I can't win Reese I I have to play the run you know all these rpos all these different things I it makes me come up and use my eyes and play run and these Titans are so valuable to find space behind knew where he was going with the football the whole time because the big fella he's always open they'll ride the running back and leave it with him a lot of times defense is Blitz just stop the run this very play right here uh puts the linebacker the man the offense did a great job everybody understood what they saw running back understood pick up a nice positive gain when they were trying to get a blitz and maybe create a tackle for a loss operating in the Red Zone here on second Down On The Run it's white he steps in powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two I think you run that play so you stay out of third and long third and long is not where an offense ever wants to thrive third and medium hey I'm good with that so you run that play to make sure you're set up for a good third down not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone they'll try to move the chains on the ground and he takes it in for the score touchdown Georgia Southern well well well somebody's been doing their box jumps you ain't lying getting up in the air Hey listen I'm taking a picture of that saving it that might be my screen saver on my phone that vertical way up in the [Applause] air and up to add another kick is on for the extra point the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead a 70 yd touchdown drive and finish to deal with the short touchdown run from the two kickoff team lining up to send this one away and he takes this from inside the five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense going up top on first down throws to the wide out got him downfield and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup zone coverage means everybody's looking at the quarterback so now when I'm a wide receiver I got to make sure I know I fit in the hole between these zes I know where they're dropping to and I know where I need to get to great job by the wide receiver finding that hole and the quarterback throwing a strike going to run it it's Genty continuing to turn and move it forward and they're closing in on Midfield it's down at the 48 and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his pads they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three from the shotgun the inside K nice solid form tackle from this [Music] sophomore and this offense is desperate to keep this drive alive trailing by multiple possessions and it's getting late he'll pull it on the read at the 40 there he goes makes that one pay off and they finally get him down at the 38 it'll be first down there's an example of the offense taking advantage of all the attention the defense is giving this outstanding running back remember he's one of the best in the game they're expecting him to get the football so the quarterback says you know what I'll just keep it no one's keying on me I'm going to get up field and find an explosive play the give to the tail back and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and [Applause] three back to pass it's Nelson fires to the big fella he almost picked up the first down on that that one but he'll be just a little bit short nice job by the defense stay getting him on the ground as soon as he catches the football knowing he's a threat I'm not going to let this guy get out of my sights nice job by the D they've worked it down to the 30 this defense Standing Tall trying to force a field goal try they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker he'll come through on third Downs he's got enough and they'll mark it at the 23 well no surprise I mean with the way they're running the ball early in this game they're just going to keep doing it and they're just not hammering out two three four yd gains they're gashing this defense you saw it right there the Broncos will line it up on First and 10 used the play fake now to throw looking to the big tight end working on the right and it's complete at the six defense right there but now they're backed up with a go to go situation well the offense is trying to make it look like runs so they play fake in the tight end he comes right out of his stance vertical downfield gets one-on-one with a much smaller DB and is's able to make the catch for a big game first and goal and a great opportunity to slice into this lead he's looking to pass and it's picked off at the goal line that's one way to make a stop and after the interception and the turnover this defense has set it offense up for business and that's why as quarterbacks you cannot Telegraph the pass you cannot St tear down your receivers because these Defenders they're watching it and that Defender knew exactly where the QB was going with that football and that's why he picked it off Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense takes a hand off it's white hard running there and he does a really nice job finding open space and making a good gain before the stop is made I think tackling is about effort most of the time it's about how much passion how much physicality you can bring to get your guy on the ground refuse not to get him on the ground that's not a big back you got to get that guy on the ground you can't let him pick up an extra couple yards and stay ahead of the sticks Williams looking for a man throws for the tight end got his man downfield and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up and first guys we reached the end of the quarter Georgia Southern has the lead they built a comfortable lead after 3 qu of play Let's Take a look at how we got [Applause] here one more quarter to go and it looks as if we are ready to play I tell you this quarterback has just been in a great Rhythm all game long with that last completion he's now over 300 yd passing out of the gun the ins I give just sort of a Relentless run getting everything that was available to him and they'll Mark him down at the 40 man that's the advantage of having a good coaching staff that teach these players in this type of situation with the lead late in the game you want to stay in the field of play and keep the clock ticking they do that after that nice run the Eagles want to crank the tempo wide receiver now comes in motion quick pass on the Fly motion nice move to keep running and he's brought down after a nice game it's so important this offense is able to get this guy the ball in space especially in the perimeter of the field and I love that last play call because he's able to get outside and use his speed to me that's where this gu is most dangerous Georgia Southern really efficient on offense off play action on first down and the defense gets to the quarterback I think if you're the head coach here it's a bit of a mixed reaction to your passing attack so far in this game you put up a bunch of yards throwing the football you've lit up the scoreboard but you've also given up four sacks pass protection has been a problem so far in this game [Applause] that is the last thing you want on first down as an offensive sack now it's second down Williams will pass quick completion on the out rout no chance to run but still a good game this senior quarterback knows how to take a hit and still deliver a completion you know people like to make fun of quarterbacks call them soft they're nuts he knew he was going to get drilled and still deliver the ball and I love the fact that he knew where his answer was against that Blitz he saw man coverage on the back end of that immediately knew where he had to go with the [Applause] ball on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it makes the grab and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one he just keeps piling out numbers with completion after completion in this standout performance I think some people might say late in the game you got the win everything's in hand be a little bit conservative or you just say I'm just going to keep doing me and what I do with this offense is throw the football all of the yard and I'm going to try to win me a big trophy at the end of the year they're in the red zone and they'll pass it and the rush will get to him at the 25 play action pass success has a lot to do with selling that fake you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big [Applause] play this drive was rolling and then it got thrown into reverse here's a second and 18 he's looking to throw unloads to the right he got it and he'll be run out of bounds and these guys are piling up some serious yardage totals and it looks as if they Buzz down replay wants to have another peek at that last play and the play will stand after the replay booth just does a little double checking to make sure keeping it on the ground on first and goal he works his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line second and goal second and goal for the offense tries again to get it in touchdown Eagles and the puming has started touchdown eag the offense strikes again to extend its lead here in the second half and they got everything working how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage of the situation and building on that [Music] lead P unit on the [Applause] field and they t on the extra point it's 3513 that score about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown on the run from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 boyy State ready to send out that offense wasting no time throwing on this drive he'll try to do it himself on the run and he'll slide to avoid the hit a Nifty pick up there nice job by the QB sitting back in the pocket you can tell he wants to throw the football go through his progressions nothing home take off and slide I love the slide at the end don't take a big shot offense gets set for second down to the air it's Nelson and the pass is incomplete but it might not matter flag is down and it looks as if the defense was roughing up that receiver Defender gets a little too aggressive there and this offense gets some free yardage he's going to pass fires to the wide out he makes the catch good pick up there as he gets the first down and they'll Mark him at the 48 well offensively they knew they were going to have some matchups they could take advantage of in this one and all of a sudden this quarterback has now over 300 yd passing in the game defensively David he has got them on their heels and he's been showing you a little bit of everything he he can throw it all over the field to all different receivers to his tight ends to his running backs really has the ability to spread it around and now over 300 yards still some time left and he can put up even bigger numbers and heck go chase some awards man get some postseason Awards get an allamerican just put up a day finally some signs of life from this offense which has done nothing in the second half it's first and 10 he wants to throw just a short pass to the tight end and that was some kind of collision between a couple of big bodies there and he stopped from getting the first [Applause] down now after the short completion it's second down he's looking to throw he's got his man and the defense stopped him just short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the sticks throw a little hitch route nice job getting the ball out of his hands quickly wide receiver quarterback nice job being on the same page nice completion nice catcher this third down play more than manageable from the 24 can the defense Stand Tall looking for a man it's Nelson oh the quarterback can make a big play when he starts moving around and this defense came to play they know about the high-profile QB they Rose to the challenge and dominated the competition today they took care of business and they made no doubt about who's the better football team down in the fourth quarter it's too late for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down fires to the middle makes the grab well past the sticks turns out to be an easy conversion for this offense as they move the chains on fourth down that's a great example of the receiver knowing exactly where the first down marker is he got the depth he needed to get so once he was able to make the catch he already knew he had it now a fresh set of downs and the Broncos have it in scoring position on first and goal the snap sets up to throw he caught it takes it to the house touchdown BSU and it's now the second time this wide receiver has scored another outstanding job with the route great job during the catch now a two-point conversion attempt coming up trying to pound their way in they'll get the two-point conversion and now the lead is 14 76 yds on the drive for the touchdown and they CA the drive with a four yd touchdown pass they've got it down to a two touchdown deficit trailing by 14 and about to kick it away and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer's a different animal now you got to protect you can tell they were paying attention in the practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page Georgia Southern in a hurry comes out throwing on first down and here's the pick and oh did they need that right now and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception we still got time great job by the defense doing the most important thing getting the ball back to their offense now the offense has to answer the Bell but good job creating the turnover now the offense your turn [Applause] the Bronco offense back out there ready to give it another spin they'll crank up this drive with a pass shoots it to the left and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball well that looked like he was going to be a completion but how about the defender making the hit and forcing the incompletion that incompletion leads to Second down and 10 dropping back it's Nelson and he throws his third pick of the day his head has to be spinning bringing it back and he's going to score on the interception touchdown Eagles and that just might do it man offense needed points needed points badly defense comes up with the big interception takes it all the way back just to pad their lead a little bit and make this game almost almost Out Of Reach lining up to attack one more onto that lead and the extra point splits the upright and they're up a full three touchdowns a 21o cushion in the fourth they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff C and he'll be stopped at the 17 boyy state has his back ready to go to work on offense they'll throw it on first down on target to the left and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play defense just can't cover this guy we've seen it all game long whether it's man coverage Zone coverage double coverage they cannot find an answer for him he's already got over 150 yards he had the perfect play to the drive and now they'll snap it again from the 38 using the back as a receiver on the screen they make the stop but a good pick up there on first down coming up the Broncos want to move quickly dropping back it's Nelson going for it all pulls it in in the end zone touchdown boyy statey State man that's a play this kid has been running ever since he was seven years old at the park with his best friend throwing him go routes right down the field I'm running by a guy I'm looking back locating the football making the catch and he does it in a big moment here in this game [Music] now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic right down the middle kick quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and the finisher coming on a touchdown pass from 5 two yds out if they're going to pull off this big rally they'll need to get this one back they line up for the onside kick they got it able to recover the onside kick and they get the offense right back out there boy he stay ready to send out that offense he's looking to throw it right down the middle oh what a spectacular layout and catch good start to this drive and they'll need much much more if they're going to give him a finish they need a ton more of this but you got to start the drives great the first play needs to be really good that was a good start now we got to keep building on it and we got to do it in a hurry they're down to the 20 first and 10 looking to move it through the air fires to the middle touchdown Broncos and they'll put that Scoreboard on operator to work and put six on the board number so they get that score that they so desperately needed and now they've got a chance to pull this one out defense has got to give them a chance the defense needs to get the ball back to them quickly so they can March down the field and try and score and narrow the Gap again this offense they have The Playmakers to come back and win this football game they're going to need some help from the defense [Applause] on to attempt the tryck is on for the exra point and the Pat will draw them one point closer aggressive play calling on that drive just two plays they get the long touchdown pass to pay it off the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one away on the move from inside is five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense boy they hope this next Drive is more productive after throwing a pick last time Jesse Yeah and the coaches did a good job on the sideline there just talking to the Young quarterback and making sure he's able to turn the page calm him down to go out and refocus this drive yeah and some people do that better than others but you got to show some trust in him maybe get the ground game going help around him a little bit with this system Georgia Southern in a hurry Williams looking for a man fires to the big fella and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down we've reached the two-minute warning in this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their [Applause] side defense showing plenty of pre-nap movement of their own third down and one and this is why they call it a gut check the give and tick tick tick tick tick tick tick still running at the 40 timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible there's really no secret to it David when this guy's running well this offense is so hard to stop it opens up everything and he's having a great day showing you a little bit of everything and this offense has got it rolling on the ground and he was able to get away from one tackle but plenty of help was on the way decent pick up on that play defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense now on second down and we'll probably see another run and that might do it if they can get a first down and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here I think that was an example of the offensive coordinator trying to help out his quarterback he's trying to keep these third Downs manageable you know you throw the ball on second down and it's incomplete now you've set up third long and now you're set up to fail he's got first down yardage as they move it to the 44 man that's so tough as a defense because they only got to get inches but I got to find a way to somehow get a knock back stop the running back's feet right there I couldn't do it he gets downhill just enough and he gets the first down it's a good job too there on third down by the offense because a major statistic in football in terms of winning and losing is how good are you at staying on the field keeping drives alive whether it's third and long or third and ined you just have to go execute they do it [Music] [Music]
