Stand by. Welcome back to Houston's morning show, everyone. We are keeping an eye on Hurricane Francine as it is inching ever so close to coastal Louisiana. But we do want to bring in Fox Weather's Brandy Campbell, who is actually live in Baton Rouge this morning. Good morning to you, Brandy. How are things looking out there right now? Well good morning Alison. It's actually been a quiet start for the folks here in the capital region of Louisiana. Not much rain. Just in the past 30 minutes. We saw the first bit of the rain, and it's a very light mist at this point. Temperatures pretty nice. We're in the mid seconds, so it feels good outside. And if you can take a look behind me, just looking at the trees, you can see not much action. So as far as wind and breezes go it's also pretty calm this morning. But we know this is just the calm we can say before the storm. Just looking at our Fox weather app and the radar, you can see the rain bands just really approaching us, getting very close. Probably will see more rain in the next hour I think, but overall there has been a sense of urgency here just coming in town. I came in from Miami yesterday morning into the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Shelves in the grocery stores were bare in some aisles, especially if you wanted some water. Gas stations in some areas had no gas left or only had certain kinds of it left over. And here in Baton Rouge, the city, they are doing things to be prepared for one doing that emergency declaration. So freeing up resources, clearing some of the water basins and also checking out the water levels in the area and making sure they have crews on standby to go ahead and pick up any trees that are falling because of the storm, and also being able to close off roads if there are flooding in the area. They're also saying or the mayor just noting on behalf of a resident, she is concerned about their safety, but says they are prepared for what's to come. So we'll be here, live throughout the day providing updates as the storm does get closer. Hopefully things won't be too bad, but we will be on that northwestern side of the storm. So after landfall, we are expecting a lot of heavy rain and we could get wind gusts up to 70mph. Allison. So Brandy, I just wanted to ask you a quick question. Have you talked to folks? And, you know, a lot of people in Louisiana have been through this before, but maybe there's some new folks that don't really know what to expect with the hurricane. What are you hearing on the ground? Well, one person that we spoke to here in Baton Rouge, she was saying she lives here, and she just yesterday just trying to get out and come to work there was noticing just the lack of resources when it comes to gas. I mean, it was scarce. She said she was out around 530 in the morning going to the grocery store as well, and it was packed and the water was already gone. So I think there's just a sense of urgency, but it does appear a lot of people, they are going to stay home and ride it out. I even have family. I'm from New Orleans and my family still lives in the area. In Slidell, which is across Lake Pontchartrain. A lot of people just riding it out and making sure they have what they need to stay home for a couple of days and hoping that the power doesn't go out, if anything. Yeah, that's going to be really
