Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max is here! iPhone 15, 15 pro, iPhone 16 pro Max… one option
might be to even skip the 16 this year! shoot that wasn't meant to happen yes the new iPhone 16 is
here and whether you are upgrading from another iPhone or maybe jumping from Android to Apple
there are many choices when it comes to the useful table for the recommendations iPhones if you don't want to wait for the Nuance
in this video in the detail that I'm going to share here or if you just want a little screenshot
to refer to throughout the video as we go through all the options I put together this little table
here for you whether like me you've got a recent iPhone this is the 15 Pro or you have a much
older iPhone maybe the 14 the 13 this is that time An exciting time - But how to avoid the hype? of the year for many people including myself to
consider an upgrade this is now the fifth edition of this video and like I do every year I'm going
to try and help you and potentially save you and your wallet from Apple's marketing let's take a
quick look here at what we're dealing with when 'Regular' iPhone 16 we talk about the iPhone 16 lineup quite a lot of
changes on the regular 16 to be fair out of all these changes though the one that caught my eye
was the macro lens did they really do something for the regular iPhone that will make this finally
worthwhile the camera placement is obviously interesting for me and is supposed to support
Vision Pro videos but I like this camera placement for a different reason I personally much prefer to
watch videos in landscape mode and this placement is supposed to encourage people to record less
vertical videos I presume anyway which I think What's new on the iPhone 16 Pro Max? is awesome sorry Instagram and Snapchat the pro
range though is a little bit less exciting but I will say this the changes in the software this
year will actually make you feel like more of an upgrade than the 14 to 15 or 13 to 14 on one hand
yes the iPhone 16 will bring a huge camera upgrade especially from a camera sensor perspective on the
pro range but on the other hand it looks and feels Lacklustre design changes exactly like it did for the last five or six years
not the most inspiring Design This is the 15 Pro for example and this is 16 Pro Max and yeah very
very similar the this is a dummy device by the way this D that they send me is definitely going to
be what the iPhone will look like but it's just so you know I don't get the iPhone ahead of time
and it's a shame about the design because apple as a leader by doing this sort of encourages other
brands to do the same and they do right though to be fair other brands do bring in like new form
factors so at least their customers will feel like Mind the Pro o tricks from Apple! you know they have more choice and as always like
every year there's always that trick with the pro range right some key features that you could argue
could also be on the standard iPhone 16 are only available on the pro range Apple are the Masters
are making people overspend what can I say right buy shares this first scenario we're going to go
through here is where you already have an iPhone What to do if you have an older iPhone but that iPhone is at least 3 years old now so
we're talking iPhone 13 and older if you have an iPhone 14 or 15 bear with me because I've got
some options for you too whilst the features have moved on considerably since 2021 the iPhone 13
especially the pro range is to me an incredible phone I honestly think that if I wasn't doing this
YouTube video here that would be my driver right now I I had no reason to upgrade since that phone
we do have much better cameras now of course we finally have impressive displays on the iPhone on
most models anyway and of course battery life on Should you go straight to the iPhone 16? the 13 we'll be getting on a bit now but should
you go straight for the iPhone 16 and this is where the Nuance comes in taking the iPhone 16 Pro
Max as an example as you can see here let's pick a budget of I don't know let's say you've got $500
to spend it's going to be virtually impossible to upgrade to the 16 Pro Max because when you
sell your 13 Pro Max being quite optimistic here between $400 and $500 it's going to be
tough to do that you're still going to need at least $700 extra of course this will vary from
your operator as well your maybe your contract is due for Renewal and you might get know an extra
deal there but just looking at this total cost as a as a reference point here I personally think
getting the 15 Pro Max and I've already started iPhone 15 Pro Max - upgrade scenario to see them selling for $550 $600 unlocked for the
128 gig version even the 256 gig selling for that price yeah it's hard for me to recommend the 16
Pro Max and getting you to spend another $700 when An important factor before you upgrade one point though that I'd like to remind myself
even that if this makes sense financially and it makes you happy as well why wouldn't you upgrade
right your happiness is an important factor that doesn't matter what any Tech Creator tells you you
know there's something about owning that premium Tech that is something you know it goes beyond
the features and you know whatever the device does these days there is an aspect of having the
latest in great is that may be important to you it could be useful for you as well for your job and
if you can afford it without you know overspending and kind of getting yourself into debt or whatever
you know you worked for it you deserve it why not and depending on your current plan like I said
you might be able to get an upgrade anyway with your current provider or even better you took my
advice in the last 2 three years and you saved up for the 16 in which case yes the latest iPhone
16 Pro Max will give you that piece of mind that you don't need to upgrade anytime soon which
brings me to the iPhone 14 option personally When the iPhone 16 makes sense that was not a great phone for me I had all sorts
of problems with my 14 pro Max I got rid of mine pretty early in the cycle and was happily using
the s23 ultra at the time and then the fold 5 as well as a second phone but most of my issues were
iOS 16 related I think the improvements on iOS 17 and now 18 will make the iPhone 14 a decent option
but I would say if you really want the iPhone 14 pro or Pro Max I would wait a little bit for some
comparisons to come out including on this channel and let's not forget that even the iPhone 14 plus
or 15 plus could be a decent upgrade too because iPhone 14 Pro Max option. iOS 18 consideration in my reviews I found that device to be a really
solid phone to use the display on the plus isn't as good as the pro range but I was impressed by
the general use of it when I tried it if you want iPhone 14 Plus or 15 Plus that bigger display without the extra cost and the
weight of the pro Max then the plus is definitely a decent option for you and there's also the
aspect of the dynamic Island right you might not mind the fact that it's that older Notch
rather than the Monkey Island Dynamic Island What if I need a new iPhone but my budget is tight? and another scenario here you might be like I need
a new iPhone but my budget is really tight right now as an example right it could be an iPhone 11
that you've got right now even the 12 you know is getting on a little bit now so you could have
an iPhone 12 Pro Max even right now and thinking yeah the batter is dying a little bit the camera
you know is not on par with everything else that you see on social media I wouldn't feel too bad
though by not getting the later 16 but there is an option for you that I hope I can help you here
that feels like a stepping stone it will still A stepping stone upgrade 💎 a hidden gem? feel like a a decent upgrade without you having
to spend you know almost like $1,000 on this phone right and that is the iPhone 13 Pro range
I think the 14 could become that as well if iOS 18 runs well on it and the battery is decent but
if you're really limited on budget the 13 Pro you know it's a fantastic phone you're getting a great
Camera Awesome display without the crappy Dynamic Outland as well I actually regretted selling
mine I had the Safara Blue version such a good iPhone 16 Pro vs iPhone 16 Pro Max phone that iPhone is to me anyway bit of a Hidden
Gem that not many people would be recommending it because you know of the shiny new object syndrome
but yeah it's definitely worth considering now this one here is always a bit of a tricky scenario
what if you know you're going to get an upgrade doesn't matter what I say or anyone says right
you know you're going to upgrade but you're not sure whether to get the regular iPhone 16 the 16
Pro or indeed the pro Max I realized very late in the game that I've been buying the wrong iPhone I
always go for the bigger iPhone and recently all the pro Max is the version that I go to but apart
from showcasing the features here for these videos I never personally end up using all those features
I know not many YouTubers will admit to that but An important consideration: Zoom lenses yeah it's true I've recently downgraded from
the pro Max to the pro I gave the pro Max to my wife and I honestly believe that this is the best
one for me for my use anyway is a more manageable size to be fair this is not my main phone either
but there is something right what is it that I miss on the pro Max version and there's only one
thing which is the 5x lens and it's not because Saving about $300 just by choosing wisely of the zoom but because I really like the look
of that lens you know the the way that it just photographs things is just C I mean that there
are other phones that achieve a similar thing but the 5x on the pro Max is one thing that
I miss the 3x on the pro is superb though and it's been really rare when I needed to get that
close from a zoom perspective so I'd say one if you really don't want that massive screen on the
pro Max but you want all the pro features and two you need that Pro Image quality for your photos
and videos but you don't really need that extra telephoto reach then the 16 Pro will be the best
one for you typically you end up saving $300 just by being sensible in that choice alone between
the pro and the pro Max now for the regular iPhone 16 models I would say a key area here you
know where you can save more money is on storage Avoid unnecessary storage upgrades size definitely consider moving your photos and
videos to a different cloud service instead of keeping them on the phone or even within iCloud
it's not as convenient but it will help you save some money as well not just you know in Hardware
but in monthly subscriptions as well Apple upgrade on the storage St are crazy expensive right not
just on iPhones but across the board so I'll try to avoid that if you can personally I've been
going for the 256 gig on the pro and the thing that helps me every year is the fact that I use
Google photos right there is a cost associated Android users - What to watch out for (AI features) with that every month but I like the flexibility
of not being tied to yet another Apple service a huge consideration that may actually sway you
towards the new iPhone is the software and there are two main sort of profiles that Apple could be
targeting here one is the current Apple user who is bored with iOS probably everyone the other one
is actually Android users who may be bored with Android as well and fania switch to Apple there
are loads of people in my comments that that say that as well in both cases and I think this is the
first year in the last five or six years where the new iOS features will actually make the iPhone a
viable option for for those two type of users even more so if you're coming from an older iPhone or
another Android phone and that's all because Apple When is it best to wait for the iPhone 17? intelligence some of it will be quite gimmicky
no doubt but this space is not slowing down we've got to be real here right AI features will just
keep improving and if you're know the type of person who upgrades every year the iPhone 16 with
apple intelligence will be a great choice from a longevity perspective as well but you knew that
was coming right if you have like an iPhone 14 or a quick reminder... 15 already I think the iPhone 17 will bring even
more changes from a hard drive perspective and potentially is the one that would get me really
excited about iPhones again because there's rumors about an iPhone 17 Ultra coming then later
potentially affordable from Apple too so if you are on the 14 and 15 I would say consider
just skipping the 16 as well and the final What about business users? consideration is business if buying a new iPhone
you know helps you create more opportunities in your business you know get more clients grow
your social media which then generates more clients you know just generally be more efficient
with your mobile device as well then the upgrade Will the iPhone 16 be more productive? even though may seem like a big expenditure it
could be very quickly upset by the fact that you would be bringing in business as a result of
that improved quality in your work so definitely consider the aspect but don't expect the iPhone
16 to be a productivity Beast I definitely think there are better options for that got to be honest
