Intro hi billy hi katie how are you i'm good you finished the book the excerpts are out is the reaction you're getting now what you expected well the reaction i'm getting by everyone who's read the book has been incredibly positive and exciting i think initially for people who hadn't read the book i think they were led to believe this book was something it's not because it was sensationalized and cherry-picked and strung together in a way that really didn't resemble what i wrote in its totality what do you hope the best case Why she wrote the book scenario someone takes away from your book it was really interesting it was authentic it made me think i wrote the book because i've had this big uh wild unexpected life where i've been so privileged to do the things i've done to meet the people i've met to cover the story i've covered and i've had a lot of challenges losing my husband jay to colon cancer when he was 42 and we had two little girls my sister a couple years later you wrote this book in part Her daughters reaction for your daughters to record all those feelings that you had when jay was living and fighting cancer how have the girls reacted they have been incredible i have two amazing daughters and they both read it and they both called me and they were both in tears they were six and two when jay died so they could never fully conceive nor should they have what that time in our lives was like i wrote about him as a living breathing person who was so magnificent and so smart and so funny and loved them so much so he came alive for them in these pages and i think they feel very very grateful for that you think jay and your current husband john mullner would have been friends i do think they would have liked each other john often says that i wish i had met jay katie a lot of people are gonna Relationship with Matt Lauer make a fuss over your relationship with matt lauer do you think that that ever gets uh better or it is what it is i think it sort of is what it is at this point i really hope readers understand the process i went through to square the mat i knew with the mat who emerged in the midst of these allegations and it was hard and you know it's still hard it made it very very difficult for me to come to his aid and support him as i learned more about the situation National Tour you're promoting this book in a major national tour here what do people get when they come to see you on stage i'm going to nine cities i'm really excited because i'm going to talk a little bit about my book and my journey and then i'm interviewing people i really admire like tan france and boston i'm interviewing chloe feinman and melissa senor two superstars from saturday night live kara swisher and nicole hannah jones who started the 16-19 project uh for the new york times jen garner in l.a leslie jordan in san francisco i love leslie jordan savannah guthrie in philadelphia chance the rapper in chicago a night where people can come together hopefully be inspired by some of the people they they meet and and leave feeling energized and and more connected after a very very difficult period in our history thank you for watching if you want more extra hit the subscribe button and the bell so you'll never miss a video
