James Earl Jones: A Legacy in Voice and Film | Murtaza Ali Khan | Cinema Reporter

hello today at Cinema reporter we are going to take you to a galaxy far far away a very strong and powerful voice uh which really transported us to a galaxy far far away James L Jones is no longer with us the voice is most famous for the Epic uh portrayal of Darth Vader all of you must have remembered that amazing scene from The Empire Strikes Back which happens to be my all-time favorite Star Wars film and that scene is something you know that we're trying to you know pay tribute to we all remember that epic uh Star Wars scene wherein a lightsaber duel is happening between Luke Skywalker and the evil Darth Rader and in that moment on Cloud City when you see all those amazing clouds you see an certain kind of animosity between these two characters the final Revelation that happens that Luke I am your father I think that's a scene that really shook the pop culture that redefined cinematic expositions to a Next Level uh and I think a lot of the credit should go to the portrayal of James L Jones voice because that was really a menacing way to bring the character of uh Darth Vader in the first film Star Wars A New Hope and we had no idea that this character who's a very super villainous cyborg can have different layers it can have an inner conflict and at that point in the Empire strike back when we get to know that this character has far more depth than we had ever imagined we have to thank only the great James aljon for bringing the gravitas in his voice and the same gravitas he brought to another iconic character which is that of Mufasa and the LI King now if you look at Darth Vader and if you look at Mufasa both are Larger than Life characters both are mistrial Imperial in their own ways but Mufasa has a certain kind kindness that you would not relate with dart Rader but at the same time at very critical junctures in both these story lines you see them at their vulnerable best and I think that again goes to uh show how wonderful a voice artist James L Jones was and of course his career and his life goes well beyond being just a voice artist he was an iot Legend having scored an Emmy having scored a Grammy Oscar and two time Tony with actor amazing actor known for his amazing work in Shakespearean space on theater at the same time more contemporary role in movies a lot of you must not know that he actually made his film debut you know with Stanley cubrick and dror Strange Love is the film with which he made his debut and I think after that slowly gradually his breakthrough role happened with this amazing voice for Darth Wier as menacing as ever we all know that the physical part of Darth Vader was played by the bodybuilder actor David prow but it was the voice which really made Vader this menacing epic character and so I think today uh even though he has passed away at the age of 93 we need to celebrate him we need to cherish his wonderful contribution to cinema to Stage to the voice artist space because let's not forget that he may have left us in his physical form but he'll continue to inspire generations of actors generation of voice artists and gener of people who have been able to inspire you know at a time when they were facing All Odds let's not forget that at a very young age he had a stutter problem so he used to stammer as a kid and he overcome that through his love for poetry and his africanamerican Heritage also has made him a trailblazing figure for a lot of people in the community to come to the four and really at a time when it was not easy for African-American actors to break through into the mainstream he was such a trailblazing figure so let's celebrate James aljon his life his career his journey and that is what we are doing here at Cinema reporter
