teenager died after a fight escalated to a shooting and this was all after a football game between Duncanville and South oakcliff Friday night yeah Lacy Beasley joins us live from Kim High School uh where that victim was a student Lacy we know grief grief counselors will actually be on that campus today hey that's right good morning guys Dallas ISD does confirm with us that 17-year-old David Washington did attend classes here and a 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with his murder now Dallas police are telling us the shooting happened after a large crowd gathered at a L's gas station police say a group followed Washington engaged in a fight then Washington was shot we spoke to a mentor and former coach of the 17-year-old who says Washington called his mom to pick him up early Gary Cleveland says David's mom saw the fight and the shooting he tells us he loved him like a son he made everybody feel special he made everybody feel like they was important in his life so I'm looking at him like he's one of my my own kids woke up about 6:30 and seen a text message from his mom who was like oh no my baby gone G he didn't make it and kill me kill me worst text Mees I ever got now Dallas police are still investigating and they're urging anyone with any information to reach out to them and we are learning there will be a balloon release tonight in honor of Washington right here at Kimbell High School reporting live in Dallas Lacy Beasley CBS News Texas
