Lottie Woad finishes the leading amateur | AIG Women's Open

then how does that feel my winner yeah it feels good um I I was watching the scores a little bit this morning so I I knew what I had to do and those last few holes definitely played quite tough so um it was a little bit of a grind but you know got it done in the end a bit anself couple times out there that determination to get the job done is that you that um I mean a little bit both um just bit frustrating on the greens today had a lot of good looks for birdie early on that you know lipped out and you know if those those gone in and suddenly I was right back up there so was definitely a bit frustrated but you know you can't get too high on yourself when the conditions are like like they are yeah yeah definitely it's it's been been really great for me confidence-wise just um getting to playing all these events as well and playing well in a few of them has definitely giving me a lot of confidence going into my next year at College what could you have imagined like that rise from obviously what happened in April Augusta to sort of playing at the old course and being right up there been amazing has it yeah it's definitely been amazing um I mean probably didn't imagine it you know it's all the best players were playing at auster it's you know hard to win and um but I I knew kind of I had confidence in my game but um obviously didn't think I was definitely going to win so after that happened um just kind of been trying to enjoy all these events how have you found the step up to the majors you you enjoying that you're learning a lot from the other Pros as well yeah I think I definitely learned a lot like the Chevron was my first one and um played well at that uh then the US so and the a definitely brought me back down to earth you know um uh you know it's so so tight up there you know you two shots from from kind of being 80th or 40th which is the difference from for making the cut so definitely learn about kind of the small margins so and obviously going to Sun and Dale next week and how much obviously C near you how much are you looking forward to playing in your first curs cup yeah I'm really looking forward to it like curs cup is one of the big goals that I think any animater wants to play in and it to be near I live there going to be a lot of supporters and I mean it's one of my favorite golf courses in the world I just love love heand courses so um it's going to be really fun this doesn't change that thatle yeah probably it's not I don't think this would change anything you know I've still got a lot more things I want to work on and you know I'm in the the open in the US Open next year so get to play those as an amateur and just learn more next year this goes to Wales where you won as an amateur must be looking forward to it already are you yeah definitely um I mean I haven't played that course before but I'm sure it'll be wet and windy as well so you know I'm kind of used to that now did your head coach ever come out yeah yeah Amy stayed she she was the deal was top 10 going into the weekend I was tied 11th but she let me off so she stayed it's hilarious um where was this week coming out of anal like on your calendar like how excited were you for this yeah I was I was really excited like you know being from England the open's the the best one um to play in and it to be at St Andrews it can't really be any better and I was just looking forward to all year and just made sure my summer was kind of tailored a bit towards that when I got back and you know getting more practice on links because when you're over in America for the all the year you don't you don't play links so you kind of got get back into it and like where I live down south it's not links either so I kind had to go and play some other events do the versatility yeah definitely I think um the amount of different courses I've played if they're all different like I mean Augusta's you know austa quick greens and all that and this is the complete opposite so you got to definitely have all the shots and um make sure you you're practicing the right things leading up to each event kind of be a bit more specific which I feel like I was this year um I don't if I'd been that really specific leaning up to events in the past you seem really comfortable out there today even INRI where does that come from you just you been building off is that always I think a little bit of both i' I've always been a fairly aggressive player trying to tailor back a tiny bit just to be a little bit smarter um but I mean I was just trying to focus on the people ahead of me not behind obviously I knew I kind of had a four five shot lead in the amate stuff but I was more focused on to see if I could get closer to the lead just I feel like that help me kind of focus on it a bit more rather than being worried because if you're worried on this course you know a lot of lot of shots can get away from you did you come into this weekend try um I mean yeah I I I was you know nearly in the top 10 so I thought you know why not like there's nothing to lose really as an amateur so just trying to move up you feel Kina can bring to the table that can give you a good chance to win that I think she she can obviously bring a lot you know winning solheim Cup captain as a Curtis Cup captain is is really is really good for us and I think both both teams are very new I don't think many people played curs cup before so um having her experience of these sort of events um is going to really help us just with I think she'll just have a good idea of who to put together for parents and stuff like that thank you thank you
