VILLA GET BAYERN MUNICH AND CELTIC AT HOME! | CAN EMERY GUIDE US THROUGH?!

m hello everybody Welcome to a very very special Villa par podcast reacting to the Champions League draw from Monaco and wow what an experience for all Villa fans to have tonight unbelievable it's me Kev I'm here tonight with from location in Europe potentially scouting out some of the teams will be playing it's Rich from it from his holidays joining us rich how you doing mate I'm very well I'm very well sorry if there's a bit of background noise just doing this from the hotel reception but had to jump on to react to this fantastic Champions League draw I mean as if we're saying it Champions League and obviously the teams that we've drawn in this champions league league ladder stage we'll go through it but it's absolutely unbelievable yeah it's absolutely magic as we said we had to jump on to talk about it um as always the usual uh admin please give us a a subscri subscription if you can it'd be great please give the video a like that's so important for us it help more people find us we're rapidly approaching 5K if we could do that in the Champions League season and Beyond and would be fantastic for us but but yeah let's jump in we won't stand for too long which wanted to react to it there's only one place to start Aston Villa's greatest night in their history Rotterdam 1982 you and I were Babes in Arms there's Villa fans that experienced that art now heners in the sky there's Villa fans that have only ever heard about this from old old people basically it's happened we've drawn Bayern Munich at home under the lights Villa Park what are your thoughts on that Richard absolutely unbelievable mate and you just said it there I think it was kind of written in the stars and maybe it won't me too much in the grand scheme of the champions league and all the teams and the Champions League draw but for Aston Villa Bayern Munich it means a hell of a lot and like you said 40 odd years since we won that European Cup against Bayern Munich to get them at Villa Park again the meaning of that game and for players like Tony moley Peter with Sid cow to ex re-experience that it'll be a magical night for them be a magical night for the fans and the players and hopefully we can put on a show and potentially get a result against them yeah there there's so many different uh plot twists possible with this isn't there and obviously just interesting points related to this fixture is it an opportunity for Watkins after tough start of the season to show that he is better than Harry Kane you know on a magical special night you mention that team of 1982 and of course I I do think about Sid kons the likes of Sid kons obviously he's had his unfortunate sad diagnosis of dementia um we hope he'll be at the game we don't obviously know what condition will'll be in but what an opportunity what Memories you know I'm sure there might even be some of the old Bayern team there you know in terms of being such a historic fixture so just think it's absolutely magical and it it promises to be a really really special night under the lights at Villa Park of course the other team we got from po a was you would probably argue a slightly more winnable fixture um because obviously there were some absolute Giants in in this pot and that was obviously um leig and of the German team what's your thoughts on that draw well like you say I mean the glamour tie would be like a in Real Madrid or barcel or something but leig big ground good s good city and everything to go to you know over in J we've played before in a preseason friendly we've had some experience against German teams obviously we played Dortmund in pre-season this season so yeah like you say it's a potential game that we can go away to take a lot of fans with us and out of all of the teams in that part A it's probably one of those that you think you know what if M Drew them probably got a decent chance of getting a decent result however very very exciting young side they always have good young players and they've established now Champions League side so make no mistake it will be a tough game but one that I think Villa fans and Villa players will go into thinking you know what we can maybe get something here yeah and obviously we're currently in a bit of a battle with them apparently for the final right back luch Al hruda so um to draw them um he might be choosing who he wants to uh he wants to play for in in that big match um the other thing I thought was intered about the draw and this was the thing that I think was so magical for Villa fans you don't know who you're going to play and of course you really want to get some big ties at your home ground so to get Bayern to then miss out on you know a a PSG a real Madrid of Barcelona you're looking then into pot two who you might get wow the uh what's known as the Enzo barena Samuel lilling Jr and potentially Douglas Louise Derby we got Juventus at home mate what's your thoughts on that absolutely incredible I mean the home games don't think you could have asked for Better Home ties I know we'll go into it a little bit more shortly but Bayern Munich at home then Juventus at home absolutely phenomenal team and such history such proud history with Juventus but a special special night that will be had at V Park and added to that you know Douglas sise potentially coming back to Villa Park as well he'll want to get one over on Villa but we'll also want to do that the same to him so it was definitely a game that again we we probably would look at and thinking you know what that's a team that we can probably make really really difficult night for them at V Park and maybe get the three points so I'm really happy about it I think another interesting sort of dynamic to this match is which I don't think a lot of the initial reaction I've seen we're only recording this probably an hour or so after the draw but is that the last team we played in the European Cup was Juventus they beat us in the quarterfinal stage of 1982 83 when we were the holders so I hope that Bayern don't get revenge on us but if that does happen then I hope we do get revenge on on UV so yeah another giant of European football I think the era that you and I were growing up as football fans probably in our you you know mid teen years Juventus were probably arguably the biggest team in Europe at the time you know mid90s with um the likes of obviously Del Pierro uh just just obviously some some massive massive names in that team so yeah um huge huge tie the other one just to jump to uh to part C which is just standing out like a massive massive fixture the Battle of Britain is reincarnated he's been there over the years when Rangers have played people s have played people it wasn't quite there when we played Hibernian in the qualifying stage of the conference league but Celtic Glasgow Celtic massive Club European Cup winners themselves at Villa Park Villa Celtic tell us your thoughts on that Richard unbelievable mate unbelievable I kind of wished from my perspective being in Newcastle that we had them away because it's a little bit closer for me but yeah I mean getting the Celtic at any stage is phenomenal Battle of Britain see Brendan Rogers and a huge Irish contingent in Birmingham as well so it'll just be massive in the city as well and again maybe not not a glamour tie especially for the champions league as a whole when you look at all of the fixtures but for meaning for Aston Villa and I guess meaning for Celtic because every time they come up against an English Premier League club they'll always want to get a result so for that let's ask it's an absolutely massive tie and again you look at it Bayern Munich Juventus Celtic all at Villa Park I don't think Chris heck un emry whoever it is the Players could have wished for anything bigger and better and then obviously talking away games in in pop b as well Club Brugge I mean villans going out to Belgium going to Brugge I mean that's a great great City to try and visit as well yeah Bru is a great I've been to brge myself Bru is a fantastic City great to to party in but also it's so picturesque whether you going as a couple whether you're going as a group of mates where you going to football fans whatever I think the interesting about Celtic as well just like uve just like Bayern there's also a lot of interesting points around the history of the clubs obviously Martin O'Neal was a massive manager for both teams we've got Stan Petrov massive iconic figure for both teams you know we've obviously shared players over the years from from a Shawn Maloney to an Alan Thompson you know plenty of people from a Chris Sutton lesso Tommy Johnson but plenty of players have played played for both clubs but they maybe not obviously the team they used to be but I tell you what the one thing you'll say about Scottish teams is they often do overachieve and I I've seen saltic over the years you know have some fantastic results in Europe so that won't be an easy tie um let me pull up the um the actual fixtures because we'll just we'll just fire through the uh the other ones obviously you know none of these are any any less than any of the other ones just tring to um pop that up now here we go so obviously Bayern U we've discussed Leipzig uh Bru Celtic so rich tell me about your thoughts on um on on on the rest of the fixt just some interesting ones there Monaco I think is an interesting one that that that stands out what are your thoughts on the other three fixtures well look uh bologna again they'll be they'll be a team that will want to get some results and they probably look at Aston Villa as a team that they might had to get some points against similar to Monaco so but it's a massive opportunity for us if you look at those games if we can pick up two three four wins against you know young boys Monaco bologna Celtic then the other four games you're thinking right one or two decent results there you're probably getting in that top 24 teams so what equally those teams will be looking at the same thing you know again a trip out to Switzerland lovely country lovely place for Philippines to go to absolutely fantastic but yeah you know I think it's a it's it's great experience for the players but also huge opportunity because if you look at the quarterfinals well even the the last 16 the quarterfinals and the semi-finals of the conference League playing olympos Le and Ajax you arguably you're talking about three bigger clubs than bologna Bru bologna sorry young boys and Monaco so it's a massive opportunity there for us to get some points but you know equally they'll be looking at it exactly the same way absolutely so just to summarize it Villa fans we've got Bayern Munich wow Juventus Celtic wow wow and bologna at home at Villa Park in the Champions League and Away we've got liik Club brouge young boys who play in a very interesting stadium name Google it I'm not going to say it on air um and obviously Monaco who again you know big historic Club it's going to be an expensive traveling experience for some Villa fans because Monaco won't be cheap Switzerland won't be cheap Belgium won't be cheap but Villa fans I've said this many many times before we have to soak it all up we've got a villa fan there in the background Rich how's Aiden feeling about it he's loving it mate he's absolutely loving it trying to think of where we're going to go are we going to go to Belgium are we going to Monaco Germany or Switzerland so we we we're working it out at the moment well listen um we that Villa up with pride around the resort um Rich andless has anything else you want to say I think I think we'll call it a day there for this for this brief um summary plenty more content from us
