[Music] preseason polls probably don't really mean a whole lot at the end of the day but they do them so the least we can do is talk about that Oilers preseason rank number one and as we talk about when you talk about losing a quarterback couple of running back some of the other key for your peers to have you guys rank preseason number one says a lot about what they think you've been doing in the offseason yeah I mean I I don't think that uh there's any doubt that everyone's goal at the beginning of the season is to be standing at the top uh when when all the dust settles that you're at the top of it and and that's something that certainly is an expectation in this program and that's something we want and uh and I and I don't think you want to undersell and overd deliver I think the bottom line is is that we expect to be competing for and winning the conference Championship year in and year out every year here that's the standard and then some into the national playoffs and so if people think uh that that we're going to do it well then let's roll the ball out kick off at noon on a Saturday and and go to work take a look at the schedule opening up on the road first two games that's come kind of common place for you guys spend a lot of time on the road long trip out to Missouri to Truman State and you follow that up with an old gak appoint uh uh opponent in Wayne State up in Detroit uh getting off to a good start certainly is going to be key for you guys I think so and I think trumman state is a very formidable opponent uh when it comes to opening the year uh they are a very detailed football team they're a physical football team uh you're going to get a really good college football game out in Kirksville Missouri between two good teams uh they return a number of key pieces there's been change out there longtime head coach uh has stepped down his son who's been with him for 14 years has moved into that role on an interim basis and so even though I think you're going to see a lot of things similar to what we saw last year there'll be new wrinkles uh there's no doubt and then when we take that trip up to Detroit uh you know we know when when you when you strap up against a Gak team it's going to be a physical game uh in Detroit and we're looking forward to that as well then you get into of course the conference part of the schedule and it feels like almost every week once you're into the conference schedule it's a rival week every you got Ashlin you got Hillsdale you got the team up 224 since we're not saying their name anymore but I mean it really does become a bit of a gauntlet for you guys well yeah I think when when you talk about these these teams in our league with the exception of a couple of the outliers obviously Kentucky Wesley and um you know we we we dip down into Kentucky and do some recruiting in in Louisville and Lexington obviously Jaden farmer uh Brian Faith who's our starting center they're both Louisville kids so we're no stranger to recruiting Kentucky but when you look at the Pro imity up here when we line up against some of our conference opponents they're our former high school teammates or they played against each other uh in their league growing up in the Columbus and the Cleveland and the Toledo area so uh I think there's natural rivalries just based on the proximity and such a familiarity uh with each other well coach we appreciate your time we'll talk more as we get closer to the beginning of the Season go Oilers go Oilers all right this has been Oiler outlook here on uftv
