Inside The WNBA's Biggest Scandal Involving Becky Hammon!

Becky Hammond coach of the Las Vegas Aces is caught in the middle of one of the wildest stories in sports right now former Aces player DK Hami is suing the WNBA after a series of events that are exclusive only to women's sports by that I mean hamy got pregnant and her coach at the time Becky Hammond was not having it what does that mean well back in June of 2022 Hami signed a 2-year contract extension with the aces in the middle of the season so she just got paid and in that contract were some bonuses including use of team provided housing and coverage of private school tuition for her oldest daughter fast forward a month later to Mid July her and her husband must have been doing some celebrating of that new contract because they found out she was pregnant and they had formed the team in early August to say that Hammond and the aces were pissed off would be an understatement they got the number one seed they're gearing up to make a deep playoff run and your three time All-Star tells you she's pregnant what I'm about to say I need everybody to listen and keep in mind for the rest of the video Hami would go on to play for the rest of the season and in the playoffs she was out there hoop and pray and if we're being honest she couldn't have gotten pregnant at a better time she would then give birth in March of 2023 and then go on to play a full W NBA season she didn't miss any time but you know Common Sense isn't so common and when egos get involved it gets all bad like I mentioned Hami would go on to play the rest of that 2022 season and the aces would win their first championship in team history Becky Hammond on the other hand must have felt like she got played or she just went on some sort of power trip because what would later come out would be the details of a phone call between Hami and Hammond in January of 2023 so after the season and before hamy gave birth months after you guys just want a chip and smack dab in the middle of the off season Hammond must have called Hami with some things to get off her chest everything is alleged but it was said that on the call Hammond would go to question Ham's commitment and dedication to the team after getting pregnant she also accused Hami of signing her extension while knowingly being pregnant hamy said that when the 2022 season ended she lost privileges to the team housing and her daughter's school to was never paid for like damn y'all can't even pay for the girl school then 6 days after that phone call coincidentally Hami was traded to the Los Angel Sparks this whole thing is insane for a handful of reasons this woman not only played out the rest of the season but she helped you guys win your first WNBA Championship all while being pregnant now Hammond who has never given birth to kids and anyone else who has never been a part of that process might not know how hard that is but that's an amazing feat within itself she was out there running around playing defense and getting buckets all while having a whole human growing inside of her so how could Hammond even have the audacity to question Ham's dedication and commitment to the organization just imagine if this was a male coach saying this to a female athlete there would be no investigation it wouldn't even have gotten this far bro would have been out of a job with the quickness Gino arama probably the most famous women's college basketball coach of all time if he said this to one of his players he could forget about those 11 national championships he won forget Sports your boss at your regular 9 to-5 cannot say this to you you would have HR on speed dial and your last name would be on the side of the building the very next week if anybody in the higher ups ever said this to a woman but the world is full of double standards and while this isn't anything new Hammond is completely out of line for this question not only that but if she would have just took a second and did the math in her head she would have said Okay a 9-month pregnancy if everything goes the way it's supposed to go she'll be back for next season in which D Hami was she played in all 40 games for the LA Sparks in 201 23 she didn't miss a single game so supposedly the WNBA did a full investigation and after a few months of digging they would go on to suspend Hammond for two games for violating workplace policies they tried to sweep that under the rug and hamy was not gone rightfully so too Becky Hammond has been adamant this whole time that the aces did not trade Hami because of her pregnancy this is where the gray world that we live in you have to be able to look at things in black and white and take things for what they really are because ain't none of this is by coincidence we're just supposed to believe that 6 days after this phone call where Hammond calls out Hami and accuses her of all these different things that they just decided to trade their three-time Allstar I can tell you exactly why the WNBA doesn't want to make this any bigger than what it already is because not only is Becky Hammond a legend and a pioneer of their game she's one of the biggest names in the history of women's basketball let's not forget she was being groomed by Greg papovich himself to become the first women's head coach in the history of the NBA she was an assistant for the Spurs for eight seasons even becoming the first woman as an active head coach after coach pop got ejected one game Hammond was a finalist in 2021 for the tri Blazers head coaching job before they gave it to Chanty bips it was only a matter of time before she got that opportunity and with the dynasty she has been building in Las Vegas it was looking like it was going to be sooner than later but this is a really bad look for not only Hammond but the WNBA as a whole whether this lawsuit goes further or nothing comes out of it I think Hammond can forget about any NBA coaching dreams that she had because it's one thing to be a grown woman coaching other grown women it's a a whole different Stratosphere trying to be a woman coaching grown men there's already a million different obstacles and stereotypes that you have to fight through in order to coach in the NBA and sadly even the slightest in your armor or mental lapse that you would have and she would lose the team whether it's the NFL the NBA or any other leadership position it's a hard job being a leader of men now take those men and give them egos the size of Jupiter and more money than they know what to do with it's an extremely hard job and that's why we see coaches in and out of the NBA like it's nothing so I'm sorry ain't no way that Hammond can walk into any NBA locker room with this story lingering over her and players take her seriously it's just a crazy situation in general because we've never seen anything like it like I mentioned at the top this is something that is exclusive only to women's sports where you see a coach get mad at a player for getting pregnant we've seen players hold out because of contracts all the time we've seen guys wait to have surgery but this is a whole different scenario I don't know what the end result looks like all I know is that the WNBA is more popular right now than it has ever been and so far the league has had its ups and downs with the way they have handled their Newfound Fame they can't let this be one of the Downs though because fans and people within sports are going to be waiting to see what happens with this case moving forward
