The Ultimate Cord Cutting Live TV Service? Cheaper Options Coming to YouTube TV, Fubo, Hulu, & More?

hey everybody welcome back to a special breaking news edition of c cutting today the cord cutting dream about to become a reality since I've been doing cor Cutters news now for over 10 years the number one thing people have wanted is small Affordable TV packages just uncontent they want mainly revolving around two main categories I hear most people ask for Now Sports and news well we may just be getting that according to a report from Bloomberg um now we've already known that venue Sports the live TV streaming service from Disney Fox more Brothers Discovery was going to launch a sports only package with like 16 channels and a couple locals ABC and fox own locals while now Bloomberg is reporting that Disney is open to letting other TV providers primarily Direct TV who needs to reach a new deal with Dre TV by the end of the week and September 1st they're scheduled to go black if a new deal is not reached they're reportedly open to allowing Dre TV to have a small sports package DirectTV would love to do a news package an entertainment package and others but for now according to Bloomberg Disney's open to the sports small package we're going be breaking down everything you need to know about this new story why this could be the ultimate core cutting package and how this could help core cutting going forward um first all if you want to learn more about this check out the little bit so the idea here is for a long time if you're a TV provider and you wanted to offer ESPN you also have to agree to offer Disney FX FXX free form all these other channels this is a big part of the lawsuit from fubo against Fox Disney and warm run Discovery you know they're launching a sports only package without all those other channels that people may or may not want but by sports fans don't and they're suing saying that Disney launching their own service like that after denying them the ability to do it is a breaking laws anti-competitive and all that fun stuff now Disney's reportedly Corin Bloomberg interested in allowing other TV providers to do it and Direct TV may be one of the first as they reach a deal this is great news for cor cutting because it really is the truth since I've been doing cor cars news for over 10 years the number one thing I've been asked for is how can I just pay for the channels I want or at least the genre of channels I want I don't want 80 I don't want 120 I don't want top 160 whatever all those channels you see now in packages are I just want sports or I just want news those are the two big ones but also ones like entertainment and movies and that seems to have been true because you look at the success of Pho and friendly TV both focus on the entertainment side without the sports and news mostly and so far it has done very well and attracted a large audience now venue Sports has been blocked in court by fubo and now Disney's may allow other providers to do that YouTube TV for years now has been saying they would love to do this even before I sold the site and bought back um uh YouTube TVs talked about wanting to do that so what do we do what does that look like well in short we'll have to wait and see Direct TV came out with alista three key demands number one being flexible packages related to people's interests like sports news and the like lower price Alternatives they want to do this cheaper to try to check people and an aggregate experience basically they want bundle in streaming services into their um TV service much like spectrum's done this could be the watershed moment we've all waited for and I think the fubo lawsuits probably a big part of this Disney's probably looking at this as a way to defend themselves from the lawsuit because they can say well yeah just because we weren't able to reach a deal with fubo to do it look we did it with Direct TV we did it with whoever else they may do it to offer a sportson package no matter what plays out this is kind of the dream of cord cutting smaller and smaller packages ultimately allak cart TV where you just pick the channels you want will be what we want unfortunately it's kind of tough there's a few issues with it number one these bundles keep a lot of these channels alive I think I even read that CNN would not survive if only the people who watch it had were paying for it it relies on people who don't watch it to pay for it and that's true for many many channels and that's why when you hear things like oh ESPN's going a stand alone it's going to cost a lot more because yeah they may get $9 in change from every cable subscriber but they also getting money from people watching or who watch that but don't watch the Disney Channel Disney plus free form FX Etc they're getting a cut from that that's why it's been long rumored that the ESPN streaming service would be closer to $20 to make up all that lost revenue from ESPN Watchers who are still paying for those other channels but not watching them we'll see what happens I do think that this will probably result in many smaller cable networks going under if this ever becomes a reality because increasingly people would stop paying to watch MTV 2 FXX and other channels that really don't attract a large audience nowadays and their content available on Hulu Disney plus and others this is great news will it happen right away probably not even if a deals struck to allow this we're still probably months away from this becoming a reality but the dream of smaller cheap TV packages seems to be very close becoming a reality well that's it for today if you want to
