[Applause] for Connecticut they'll be up against a team that in some ways is their Mirror Image these two clubs should have to battle for every first down and touchdown today I can't wait for this one for Connecticut they've got a linebacker who's a force to be reckoned with the running back in the opposing backfield is a stud so his support in the run defense today is going to be vital it's time for the coin toss presented by Nissan proud partner of the Heisman Trophy we'll see how these two teams play in this game as they prepare for the opening kickoff he kicks it off and he got all of that one no chance for return it'll come out to the 20 for Connecticut is there anything we should be keeping an eye on this is definitely a pass first offense with lots of short safe routes they like to integrate a lot of different wide receivers especially the backs and tight ends and once they've got you going they'll start using the run it's somewhat conservative but they can kill you with ball [Music] control first down from their own 32 yd line first [Applause] down inside hand off he makes it out to maybe the 33 yd line first foul Mas on defense first down first and 10 ball on the 48 yd [Applause] line and this one's broken up from their own 48 yd line Second [Applause] down caught and he is drilled at the 36 yd line number [Applause] y here's the toss nothing do it face mask on defense first down first down 10 to go ball on the 24 yd line steps up in the [Applause] pocket it's second and 10 ball on the 24 tackled after a decent pickup gain of six on the draw play trying to change the play Drops back to pass throws the defender had his hands on it but it's incomplete I thought they did a good job of reading the play and positioning themselves well to break up the pass the kick is up and he didn't get all of it it falls short well no luck for the kicker as he misses his opportunity to tack three points on the board so we'll change possession with a score Connecticut nothing Maryland nothing so now the offense and defense are tring out as we get set for the first possession play action and he can't get away from the pressure he was a Sitting Duck on that play and believe me these defensive players love a Sitting Duck so the sack makes this a second and long they'll run it brought down after a nice run up the middle from their own 15 yd line third down throws it he got a lot of Jersey on that play not too much argument about this [Applause] calling well I know it's a lot easier to say when I'm not the one being chased but he needed to just Chuck the ball into the stands and avoid the pressure so it's Fourth Down the punter comes on the field getting ready to send one off oh excellent punt looking for the corner he gets out to about the 35 yd line personal foul face mask on the defense still first down first and 10 ball in the [Applause] 50 the halfback with a carry and he carries the ball for a nice game personal foul face mask from the defense first down first and 10 ball in the [Applause] 28 here's the toss nothing do it I'll tell you what for a defensive back this kid is a sure tackler and he showed it right [Music] there so it's second and 13 ball on the 31 yd line [Applause] looking to throw slides down seven yd pickup on the scramble by [Applause] quarterback it's getting louder down in the field they're changing the play he's looking to pass caught end zone for the touchdown how do they let the tight end get so open on such a big play that was poor d defense looks like there was some miscommunication between the safety and the linebackers which caused for him to get so [Music] open so the referee initially calls it a catch but we'll get a second look at it here and determine if he was inbounds when he hauled it in and that play happened so fast that it was very tough to tell if he was able to get a foot down or not after a the field stands the ruling on the field will stand he caught it the only thing left to say about this play is that was an excellent catch and it's off the upright no good it was a quick three playay 44 yd drive and they put six points on the board after missing the extra point so our score six nothing Connecticut is lining up to kick this one off excellent kick and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback from Their Own 20yd Line first [Applause] down to the right and tackled immediately picked up a yard of anything on that run you have to like how this linebacker was able to move up quickly and bring down the ball carrier for a short gain nice stop by the Junior [Applause] they go with a run and he's brought down in the back field personal foul on the defense first down it's first and 10 ball on the 35 yd [Applause] line drops back on first down batted away from their own 35 yd line it's second down hands it to the back tackled after a decent pickup now it's third and Six coming up ball on the 39 the quarterback in the gun empty backfield five wide receivers in the formation looks to pass and he tackles him hard the 39 yd line that's good decision making there and mechanics by the quarterback he knew where he wanted to go with the ball but he looked off the other receivers first [Applause] [Music] we've got a first and 10 ball on the 39 yd [Applause] line way to look it in first down 10 yds to go ball on the 27 drops back on first down and he has his back who's wide open not a safe pass at all really tight coverage and not a lot of room credit the receiver with going after that one and hanging on [Applause] so it's first and 10 once again and they continue to March down the [Applause] [Music] field second down and 10 to go ball in the 17 [Applause] he drops back and that one's [Applause] incomplete and here's another third [Applause] down back to pass and they got him the offense line has to at least slow the guy down a little bit he was in there in no time they'll call on the field goal unit here for this long field goal attempt this will be about a 42 yder and he didn't get all of it it falls short so the kicker is unsuccessful and this defense couldn't be any happier and our score Connecticut six maryn nothing they'll start at the 25 yd line we've got a first and 10 Connecticut is up by six drops back on first down and he throws it away from their own 25 yd line Second down runs it right and can't get away nice tackle face mask on the [Applause] defense first down first and 10 ball on the [Applause] 40 they'll throw on first down and it's the senior they just couldn't get to the quarterback in time that's one of the things that can happen if a defense brings extra guys to rush the quarterback the offense will have favorable matchups to get the ball down field nice run there personal foul face mask on the [Music] defense first down it's first and 10 and they continue to work the ball down field gets it out to the tight end and he can't hang [Applause] on it's second and 10 ball on the 22 complete a huge play and now they're in a great position to score well how about the Poise this kid wasn't worried about the blitz at all both middle linebackers were coming and he stayed calm and delivered the football for a new set of downs he's looking to pass pass to the tight end but he botles the ball away [Applause] second down threatening inside the [Applause] 10 a little laundry on the field and we'll find out who's It is Well if you want to ruin a drive just grab a hold of a defender's Jersey second down goal to go ball on the 20 flares it and almost had it intercepted man I don't know if this quarterback misread the defense or just made a poor decision but that wasn't a pass he should have thrown [Applause] swatted away well that's one effective way to slow these guys down getting a hand between the ball and the receiver fourth down this will be a 37 yd field goal [Applause] attempt and he didn't get all of it it falls short so the kicker can't make the field goal there and this defense comes away with a small victory so our count is still Connecticut six Maryland nothing and while they are behind they know they can knot things up in a heartbeat it's way too early to change your game plan on the draw play nice run there the halfback picks up maybe five yds on the draw play and second and five coming up here ball on the 25 yd line [Applause] looking to throw he goes downtown oh he had the pick and he dropped it he was that close to making a big play his safety is kicking himself for dropping that one [Applause] looking for his man incomplete boy that hurts the offense to have to go three and out they're going to have to think about how to get something going the next time they come out he really got a hold of that one he makes it out maybe to the 26 yd line not great but not bad either as long as you're main priorities are not turning the ball over and establishing solid field position then your head in the right direction here's the pitch right and he doesn't get back to the line of scrimmage sometimes a play is not going to work for whatever reason doesn't mean you throw the play away you just need to execute better next time he may have changed things up here got a man but he's tackled back behind the the line of scrimmage loss of three not much going on there those kind of plays will not work against this defense you can be sure of [Music] that it's third and 13 B on the 23 yd line he drops back looking long down the left side very Stern effort there by the defense they weren't giving up anything on that [Applause] series he really got a hold of that one he's out to the 30 he's tackled at the 36 yd line personal foul defense still first down from the 49 yd line first down give to the running back and he's going to lose yardage the defense just blocker's head on and drove them back straight into the runner second down and 11 yds to the sticks ball on the 49 yd line [Applause] looking to throw wide out makes the first down [Applause] [Applause] catch first and 10 ball on the 36 yd line here's the Gib he's gobbled up in the back field really good job by the big guys up front to use their size and speed and get the runner in the back [Applause] field run play and he'll lose yards did you see how that big defensive line got such a good push on that play play that's exactly why they were able to stop him for a loss third down now and they need to get it to the 26 and he hits him hard at the 47 yd line the blitz was the call but the D lineman was the one who made his way to the quarterback and he showed great quickness getting off the line into the back field this guy can move for a big fella it's Fourth Down the punt team is on the field looking to kick this one away he gets it away and this is a really nice punt little too much leg into that punt they'll bring it out to the the offense will take over at the 20 we've got a first and 10 hands it to the back gets out to around the 28 nice job by the running back and that'll get him seven maybe eight [Applause] yards they hand it off again that's a great tackle at the 41 first and 10 ball on their own 41 and he's tackled right away this receiver showed soft hands and hung on for the first down and if I'm not mistaken the defense sent their corner on a blitz if he doesn't get to the quarterback the numbers are in favor of the offense just like like we saw looks like someone was called for holding well when holding is that obvious the official most definitely is going to bust here so the penalty puts him back for a first and long fumble and they fall on the loose ball wow very close to turning it over but they'll keep possession of the football way to play heads up out there that's just one more reason to play to the [Music] whistle hands off and not much room there as they try to work the left side personal foul B on the defense first down they line up for another first and 10 and they're really on a roll this drive he looks to throw on first down he gets rid of this one the defense got some pressure and forced a bad pass I think they've been a little bit more aggressive here with their pass rush and that time it paid off with an incompletion he drops back passes and it's almost picked off that could have been a huge shift in momentum if they were able to hold on to that one wow that was close looking to throw great pressure on the quarterback forced that incompletion boy they really pounded him on that throw so it's Fourth Down looks like they're going to punt it away here he punts it away and it's a great kick this one will go into the end zone and they'll bring it out to the 20 the offense will take over at the 20 first and 10 and he's tackled in the open [Applause] field so it's second down and about two yds to go here's the option left nice run to the outside I really thought that the ball was going to stay in the quarterback's hands but he made a really smart decision to pitch it out now they've got another set of downs to work with run the middle and nothing there a yard maybe two on the carry second and eight ball on the 49 yd line they'll spread the field with five wide tackle made at the 27 this is why it's so important to have success in running the football it forces a defense to prepare for it and then that creates chances on playaction they execute did that one perfectly from the 27 yd line first [Applause] down he gets another carry but hold on we got a penalty on the play let's check it out well if you want to ruin a drive just grab a hold of a defender's Jersey first and long now after the penalty he'll get it again makes it out to about the 29 a gain of eight on the carry [Applause] second and 12 coming up here ball in the 29 passes and it's almost picked off the defense always likes to see a pass broken up but getting the turnover would have been really big he drops back they bring him down boy this defense really came to play today well they said before the game that they wanted to put a lot of pressure on this quarterback they sure stuck to that plan that was a nice little pooch kick right there that's why they made the decision to punt the ball right there they wanted to pin this offense down deep in their own territory this team really trusts their defense hand off inside and he's quickly brought down the running back gets a yard maybe [Applause] less they work the right side and there is nothing going there foul mask on the defense first down from their own 29 yd line first [Applause] down first down looking to throw and it's caught great concentration personal foul face mask on the defense still first down from the 41 yd line it's first down he looks to throw on first down throws it and oh he dropped it hey this guy's got to forget about the drop remember he was in good position to make a [Applause] play hand off brought down quickly personal foul face mask from the defense first down first and 10 ball on the 24 drops back on first down throw incomplete they got a hand on it that's the kind of field Vision you want out of your linebacker they have to play well in coverage and they have to be able to break up pass plays he'll get it again there's a flag down and it looks like this one's coming back so they'll move back after that costly penalty and they'll have to try to get that yardage back here the penalty makes it second and 15 drops back to pass they'll make the sack person foul face mask on the defense first down from the 15 ydd line it's first down the Red Zone has not been kind to this offense are they going to end this drought they'll throw on first down passes and it's almost picked off he tried to force it to a man that wasn't open and boy was he lucky it wasn't picked off he's got to be more careful when throwing the football into the end zone finds his man and they take him down immediately he's off to a fast start that completion puts him at 100 yards and the defense better make some early adjustments because if they keep getting beat like this through the air this is going to be a long game for them don't get too excited at Home Folks cuz I think this one is coming back here it is [Music] and the extra point is no good a nice six play 61 yd drive and they'll walk away with just six points after the miscon conversion so the score now 12 nothing Connecticut is ready to kick it away sends it sailing downfield and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll go to work at the [Applause] 20 play action it's complete and he's level at the 37 he's quickly reached 100 yds through the air well the quarterback is making great reads and he's doing a good job of finding his open [Applause] receivers after a quarter of play our score is the huskys 12 the Terin nothing first down 10 yards to go ball on their own [Applause] 37 it's complete at the 30 and they bring him down at the 23 Mas [Applause] defense so let's see how the defense responds now it's first down and 10 they run straight brought down quickly maybe a yard on the Run by the tailback the offense a lot has got to do a better job of making space because that was just a punishing hit passes it to the middle of the field and a nice catch by the receiver for the touchdown anytime you're near the Red Zone you got to keep an eye for this guy they'd love going to him down here and he adds the extra point it was a quick three playay 39 yd drive and that's good for a touchdown the score now 12 [Applause] seven Maryland is lining up to kick this one off sends it sailing down field and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback this drive will start at the 20 looking to throw pulls it in and he's in the open field they'll bring him down at the 37 [Applause] he looks to throw on first down there's another pass to the tight end and he's got it he's taken down at the 47 he may have changed things up here they'll give it off here not sure what the flag is about here let's go down to the field and find out clipping on the that one will put the offense in a hole and they'll try to get some of that back on this upcoming play option left no chance defense was all over it good penetration by the defense that's a loss of one on the option from their own own 42 yd line Second [Music] down drops back to pass good job here by the defense if you let this quarterback set and throw he'll kill you all game but they got excellent pressure on that play takes it up the middle for a nice run you know great effort here by the ball carrier but I think they need the pass in that situation most of the [Music] time gets it away wait a minute he's going to throw throws over the middle it's intercepted brought down at the 47 and we'll probably look back at that play as a game changer I agree Brad it's one of those situations where you look like a genius if it works and when it doesn't work well hands it off inside brought down the running back gets a yard maybe less it's second and nine ball on the 47 yd [Applause] line on the ground with a tail back makes it to the 37 just a simple draw play there but they picked up some big yards from the 37 yd line it's first down they go option right and they hit him in the back field nothing doing that time Defender stayed home the blocking wasn't there and down he went [Applause] second and 13 coming up here ball on the [Applause] 40 third down and they need to get it to the 27 [Applause] [Applause] he's looking to pass and he's taken down at the 21 the defense might need to make some changes to their coverage scheme because that was just too easy [Applause] from the 21 yd line first [Applause] down straight in the middle and he meets the [Applause] defense person foul face Mas on the [Applause] defense first down first down 10 yds away from a score tries to set up a screen for the wide receiver hold everything folks there's a marker down let's get the [Applause] call make it two TD catches now well it's obvious the coach wanted to get him involved in the game plan it looked looks like it was a pretty smart move too he makes the pat so that's a six play 47 yd drive and they come away with a touchdown Brad I thought that was a textbook Drive I thought they did a really good job of showing balance mixing the play calling with the run and the pass just an overall well executed touchdown drive and they can forget about returning this one the offense will start at the 20 yd line it's first and 10 he makes it out to maybe the 23 yd [Applause] line brought down at the 35 yd line that's first down looking to throw and they bring him down for a sack on the [Applause] play he makes it out to maybe the 36 yd line the half back picks up a yard one thing the coaches always say about this sophomore is that he has great lateral movement that lets him move well behind this defensive line and get after a lot of plays in the running game incomplete pass these guys just don't seem to be on the same page and they're going to have to be if they expect to win this game oh excellent punt this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback this drive will start at the 20 first down 10 to go Rose interet no he dropped it it can be tough making a play on the ball sometimes but that's probably a pick he should have made and 10 it was the Umpire that threw the flag and generally that's a holding penalty holding you've probably heard it said that there's holding on every play it's just not called I don't think it's really that prevalent but you can get away with it sometimes and other times you can't Maryland with a two-point Advantage passes to the right it's picked off touchdown Huskies this is what happens when you don't take care of the football the offense was careless the defense exploited it and now we've got a different ball game [Music] [Applause] and he TS on the extra [Music] point Connecticut ready to kick this one off he really got a hold of that kick and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll start this drive at the 20 first and [Applause] 10 try to get it to the tight end but it falls to the ground he had to get rid of that one in a hurry the defensive coordinator cooked up a good Blitz package that time and although it didn't result in the sack it forced a bad throw here's a run up the gut but nothing going there and he gets a yard on the Run yeah it was a short gain but a nice tackle there by the junior who stepped up in traffic and made a nice [Applause] play looking to throw he wants it all going long no incomplete he was offt Target that time yeah you can see his arm strength but here he overthrew the intended receiver on the Deep route it's away and it's a booming punt he gets out to about the 42 yd line nice yardage on the run back they'll start this drive at the 42 yd line it's first and 10 there's a flag on the field and I think I have a good feeling of what this might be these are the calls that drive a coach crazy senseless penalties can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing the game tackle man at the 36 yd line a one yd gain by the [Applause] halfback he may have changed things up [Applause] here he gets rid of this one third down and they need to get it inside the 48 takes it and he's tackled short not much on that try they'll face a fourth and long no one on the defensive side of the ball was fooled that time [Applause] Brad booming kick now that's how it's done how many times do we see punters boot it too far and it goes into the end zone for a Touchback this time he put it up perfectly to pin him [Applause] deep and down he goes at the three the fullback rumbles ahead for about a yard second down they're deep in their own territory he's to the 10 catches it and he's tackled at the 14 yd line he's up to 200 yd passing well the quarterback's playing well but let's not forget about the pass protection the hog Molly's up front for giving him plenty of time to make good throws they'll throw on first down number they line up at the 14 second [Applause] down here's the give nice run [Applause] there from their own 18 yd line third down fires to his receiver first down the middle linebacker came on a blitz which can be very disruptive sometimes a quarterback will get Happy Feet when they see that coming not this guy he's very composed and can deliver under a pass for first and 10 ball on the 33 yd line [Applause] he makes it to the 35 yd line a two- yd run by the halfback from their own 35 yd line Second [Applause] down looking to throw throws out to the running back no good here's the eighth play of the series series he drops back throws it that one's incomplete he led his wide receiver too far to the outside yeah he just had to pull the string a little bit more there they get this one off and it's a beauty this punt bounces into the end zone and this will be a Touchback this drive will start at the 20 toss left and he stopped in his tracks the defense needs to be careful the safety might have made that play but if he keeps coming up on the Run he'll be spaced down field for the pass [Applause] they'll work it right met quickly by a couple of Defenders the halfback picks up a yard they're calling an audible back to pass going deep lays it out there and he's taken down at the 36 the receiver found the hole in the zone and turned it into a first down no matter what type of defensive coverage you have they're always going to be holes the best thing you can do is make those holes small so the quarterback can't get the ball in there little handoff and they get nice yardage on that run the delayed handoff picks up about six yards there he may have changed things up here good tackle there in space personal foul face mask on the defense still first down first and 10 ball on the 13 pass incomplete trying to get it to his receiver boy would he like to have that one back yeah you're right this offense relies so much on time and as you saw there when their timing gets knocked off they have a tough time connecting on plays like this Pitch Out they'll bring him down for a loss on the play you don't want to let your running backs keep getting into loss of yardage situations it'll wear down the best of them trying to change the play he gets sacked on the play unfortunately I've taken a few of those in my day and they are are not pleasant it's fourth down this is a 38- yd field goal attempt and he just didn't have the leg for this one so he can't put the ball through the uprights and this ball will change possessions still our score Connecticut 19 Maryland 14 [Applause] they'll go to work at the 21 yd line and it's knocked down now the quarterback has to be careful here not to leave his receiver so vulnerable like that he took a lick in right there from their own 21 yd line Second down little hand off nice run [Applause] there third down and they're going to need about three yards to pick up the first down throws it deep down downfield nothing clicking there let's see if they can make a few adjustments before their next series so it's Fourth Down looks like they're going to punt it away here he gets it away and this is a really nice punt this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback the offense will start at the 20 ydd line first down 10 to [Applause] go tackled for a loss he knew it was a run all the way and got a good jump once he got there he wasn't about to let him slip away either he's changing things [Applause] up drops back to pass they'll bring him down at the the quarterback trying to make a play well he did a nice job of getting some yards there on the scramble but he needs to learn to slide to avoid those big hits they're calling in audible looking to throw here's a throw and I don't think he got anything on that I'd say that went about as well as a defense hoped it would the secondary decided to drop back into coverage here and there was nobody open for the quarterback to deliver the ball to good job by the D fourth down the punter comes on the field getting ready to send one off he really got a hold of that one and down he goes at the 27 person foul Mas on the defense still first down from their own 42 yd line first down option tries to pitch it and now the ball is loose the ball just kept scooting all over the place on the sideline and it finally skipped out of bounds before anybody could claim it tackle at the 42 yd line third down and they need to get it inside the 48 they bring the quarterback down well they sent the cornerback and he was able to make the sack the offensive line was just too slow to pick him up by the time they saw him it was just too late the sack makes this a fourth and very long booming kick and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback they'll start at the 20 first down 10 yds to go gets out to about the 21 the running back gets a yard maybe [Applause] less they're changing the play and it's the senior this flag came from the Umpire and that means this is probably holding hold that penalty drives them back and they're shooting themselves in the foot here well if they could just keep their concentration they'll avoid him into a fourth down situation he puts it away and it's a great kick fielded at the 11 gets to about the 27 yd [Applause] line still first down from their own 42 yd line first [Applause] down dumps it complete over the middle and they make the stop at the 46 yd line personal foul face mask from the defense first down first and 10 ball on the 39 yd line he makes it to the 38 yd line the running back gets a yard maybe less from the 38 yd line it's second down back to pass they'll drop him for a loss thir third down now and they need to get it to the 29 the terpens call for a timeout that was their second timeout he'll get get the call again brought down at the 29 and a big run on third down anytime you can move the ball like this you're putting a lot of pressure on that defense back to pass catches it and hit for No [Applause] Gain Mas from the defense first down first down 10 yards to go ball on the 14 yd [Applause] line drops back on first down excellent open field tackle person foul mask from the defense first down it's first down so they line up on the three yd line going in they're crowding the line takes it left on the option and they got him for a loss well you think about receivers coming over the middle taking shots from this safety but a runner who's still in the back field this guy just flies all over the field and he rifles it in there for the touchdown that's his third touchdown catch of the ball game yeah this guy's in his own he's catching every single ball thrown his way and he converts the extra point it was a five play 44 yd drive and the result seven points the score now 21 [Applause] 19 Maryland is ready to kick it away he got all of that one and this one's going to come back to the 20 first and 10 ball in their own 20 they'll throw on first down and he's going to come up with a sack that makes four sacks today well this speed is difficult to defend because you have to try to keep them off balance so they can't use their quickness we've still got a half of football remaining but our score at halftime is Maryland 21 Connecticut 19 [Music] Connecticut we'll be kicking off and I hope you're as ready as I am to get this second half underway no chance for a return it'll come out to the 20 for Maryland they have a small lead now and can expect to be fighting to keep it all game long let's get some more info from Aaron Andrews Brad both coaches think the game has played out mostly As EXP expected and neither one is anticipating the second half to be any different they told their guys to stay focused and play the best 30 minutes they can play and for Connecticut they had some struggles defensively in the first half which didn't make the coach very happy guys they scored a touchdown three times let's see if this drive results in another [Applause] one I don't really know what this one's for let's find out holding only holding penalties can really kill momentum but sometimes if you don't hold your quarterback can take a pretty good shot caught not sure what the flag is about here let's go down to the field and find out [Music] that one will put the offense in a hole and they'll try to get some of that back on this upcoming [Applause] play they give to the tailback and there's a penalty on the play let's see who it's on so the penalty puts him back for a first and [Music] long he makes it to the 6yd line picked up a yard of anything on that run they line up at the six second down [Applause] and that one's incomplete and he let his receiver a little too much one of the things you look for when you have a Young quarterback is how he releases the football here you can see he releases the ball a little bit early a sign that he wasn't completely comfortable with what he was seeing drops back to pass strong showing by the defense you always like to get the other team team offense off the field as fast as you can he really got a hold of that one he makes it out to maybe the 49 yd line fourth down and the offense is getting set to go for it he drops back Looks To the End Zone he caught it touchdown great effort by the wide receiver and not to take anything away from the quarterback but the wide receiver made this play you knew they had to dial up something big but these kids really dug deep for an absolutely huge play [Music] so the offense will stay on the field and attempt the two-point conversion they put everyone up on the line hands it off he's got the two so a four play 34 yd drive and they add eight to the scoreboard after that successful two-point conversion so our score 27 [Music] 21 Connecticut to kick he boots it deep downfield and they can forget about returning this one for Connecticut they've been coming after the quarterback all day long well this is really not surprising this is what they do they have buy pressure this offense is not only struggling in the pass protection Department they're struggling to get yards and at this point in the game the offensive coordinator has got to be scratching his head because you can't run the football every time you drop back the throw the quarterback's getting hit he's just trying to figure out any play that would be successful to try to slow down this defense and get his offense into some kind of Rhythm there's still plenty of time to keep running their offense as usual here I don't think they need to feel any anxiety about trailing tackled after a decent run up the gut and he picked up almost four on that halfback delay it's second and six ball on their own 24 they'll spread the field with five wide and it's knocked away person foul Mas from the [Applause] defense first down first and 10 ball on the 39 yd [Applause] line on the ground with the tail back there's a flag on the field and I think I have a good feeling of what this might [Applause] be that penalty drives them back and they're shooting themselves in the foot here well if they could just keep their concentration they'll avoid situations like that again with the Run gets to about the 34 yd line a couple maybe three three yards on that run it's second down now and 14 to go ball on their own [Applause] 34 he guns it left side and they bring him down at the 32 yd line he goes over 100 yds in receptions well this guy is such a big part of this offense if he doesn't get his numbers they usually don't have much success moving the football [Applause] now it's first and 10 with a defense trying to regroup after giving up the big pass it's the tail back makes it out to about the 20 unbelievable they can't get this offense off the field oh they've been like a machine on this drive very methodical and efficient and once again they're moving the chains [Applause] gives it off tackled outside after a nice pickup foul Mas [Applause] defense first down first down only seven yards from a touchdown the quarterback really took a shot after the play and I'll bet that's what this flag is for pass the officials are keeping a closer eye on hits to the quarterback so you've got to be careful that it's timed right and that it's clean and if you really hit him hard you can easily draw the personal foul they try to run up the middle but met the Back Field well I think it's safe to say the defense had his number on that one it can be very frustrating for a running back when he stopped before he even gets [Applause] going they'll bring him down at the three personal foul face mask on the defense first down first and goal from the one looking to punch this one in they're packed in tight on the [Applause] line caught by the fullback for the score that throw for six gives him four touchdowns all the hard work he puts in is finally paying off it's been rewarded here today with some pretty good throws leading to some remarkable touchdown trying to take the lead here's the extra point and the extra point is no good a six-play 70 yd drive and they'll walk away with just six points after the miscon [Applause] conversion Maryland is lining up to kick this one off sends it sailing downfield no chance for a return it'll come out to the 20 it's been a good day for this defensive lineman really showing off his skills well Brad to me it really just looks like it's just men against boys out there this guy's been in on so many plays it's like his own highlight film guy has three sacks you've got to do something to slow him down I would suggest a chip block use a tight end to stay in to help out maybe a running back anything you can do to try to create any kind of confusion for this Defender is something that's going to help you out and as the defense comes back out you're can be sure they're thinking about that score they surrendered the last time around as long as this quarterback has time to throw and you can guarantee that he'll find the open [Applause] man first down we've got a first and 10 ball in the 33 [Applause] he looks to throw on first down catches it and he's looking for more and they make the stop at the 39 6yd pickup well he really didn't have to do too much there to give himself a little room to make the Catch catches it hit for No Gain only three yards there on the throw the defense respects this guy and knows they have to pay a lot of attention to him he didn't have any room after that Katch catch he's changing things up they keep it on the ground with a tail back brought down at the 45 yd line they move the sticks after another first down impressive drive by this offense so far I really like what they're doing by keeping this defense on their heels and moving the ball down field runs with it and he's got room they'll bring him down the 37 yd line good gain there on the quarterback scramble you know I really like the decision to tuck it and run here here he waited and found no one open so instead of throwing it away he just took it up field for himself short over the middle and they make the stop at the 22 everybody was fooled on that one hey that was a good job here by the quarterback that could a play fake as a real weapon against an aggressive defense like this and he's tackled at the 21 yd line picked up a yard of anything on that run and this play is number eight on the drive second down makes it out to maybe the 19 yd line person foul face mask defense first down first down here we go from the nine yd line he gains a couple of yards on the [Applause] carry he may have change things up here back to pass in zone pass oh almost picked off the offense took an errand shot into the end zone and I'll tell you what that one should have been picked off yeah I'm sure he's going to hear all about that from his teammates when he comes over to the sidelines looking to throw fires in zone and tipped Away Great read and a saving play he's got what it takes to be a very successful linebacker fourth down they'll line up the kicking team this one is about 25 yds away no good he missed it to the right not a lot of on that kick the kicker just cannot hang his head after that Miss I know he should have made it but they may need him a little bit later on and he needs to be ready and confident when that happens the last time out they were able to pick up big chunks of yards through the air you wonder if they'll go back to that same strategy or where they start to lean a little bit more on their ground game just nowhere for the ball carrier to go as the linebacker met him in the back field boy what great play recognition by this linebacker he saw the Run was coming and he just shot through the Gap and made a great tackle from their own 17 yd line Second down hands off left and they got him behind the line it's never good for a back's confidence to get tackled for a loss but this guy knows that he's got to just keep at it and the holes will start to open up looking to throw he's going right makes the catch and look out he breaks away and this could be six touchdown huge play he's hit the 300 yd Mark with that throw well this quarterback has had a solid game he's done what's been asked of him and then some this young man has really had a superb game to and he adds the extra point a short three play 80 yd drive and they come away with seven points boy that is scoring in a hurry this offense is looking more and more explosive so the score now 34 27 he kicks it off and he got all of that one and they can forget about returning this one this drive will start at the 20 yd line first down 10 to go on the ground with the tail back they'll bring him down at the 21 pick up of a yard for the tail [Applause] back try to change the play [Applause] [Music] complet it but he can't shake the defense personal foul face mask on the [Music] defense first down we've got a first and 10 ball on the [Applause] 41 flags are down and this one might be on the offense way too much Jersey there pretty easy call for the officials so the penalty puts him back for a first and [Music] long back to pass they got to the quarterback a little late there personal foul the [Music] pass this was just an unnecessary hit he should have been disciplined for a play like that drops back to pass it's complete and he's taken down at the 35 yd line great Touch by the quarterback floating that one right in into his hands that takes some [Applause] skill and down he goes at the 34 and he gets a yard on the [Applause] Run he may have changed things up here little handoff and he carries the ball for a nice [Applause] game thir [Applause] down he's changing things up he throws it tipped away these guys were ready for the pass and played it well to come up with the deflection looks like they're going to go for it on fourth down [Applause] tackle at the 22 really nice play by the receiver to make sure he had possession before trying to make even a bigger play that's all you need to do in that scenario trying to change the play inside give Hello nice to meet you a two- yd run by the halfback that was a great tackle the Defenders seemingly came out of nowhere and put a big hit on the ball carrier pitch play here they'll wrestle him down in the back field the entire defense just collapsed on that run and got penetration into the back field nice job by the safety to clean up the mess they're changing the play makes it and he's tackled short the object was to sell the pass and then sneak by the defense Aline with the run the problem here was that the quarterback didn't sell the pass very well fourth down so the kicker will try to put this through from about 41 yds away and this one doesn't have the distance well that's a tough break for these guys who were looking to put three points up on the board so the score is still Maryland 34 Connecticut 27 they'll get the ball here at the 24 Maryland is up seven he looks to throw on first down gets it out to the tight end and he can't hang on from their own 24 yd line it's second down gets the ball here and brought down in the back field I don't think the play developed the way it was supposed to and the net result is a loss from their own 24 four yd line third down he's looking to pass and this one's broken up the deflection prevented them from getting any yards and now it's fourth down so it's fourth down they come out in a punt formation he punts it away and it's a great kick room around the corner down the sideline for a second it looked like he was going to take that one all away let me tell you something else this crowd has quieted down real fast after that [Applause] return back to [Applause] pass second down 10 to go ball in their own 47 bat it [Applause] away third down and they need to get it inside the 43 gets it out in a hurry man this is tough going for this quar quart back next time out he needs to just relax think back to all those practices and not worry about what's happened in this game up to now he gets it away and this is a really nice punt so this one goes into the end zone and that'll be a Touchback flipping on the receiving team first down 10 to go ball on the 20yd line throw is complete he's got room to work tackle made at the 32 yd line the quarterback did an excellent job of recognizing the Mike linebacker on the blitz he hung in there delivered the pass and his receiver made a good catch to move the sticks [Applause] looks to pass throws left the running back's got it he's tackled at the 48 yd line foul face Mas on defense still first [Music] down first and 10 ball on the 33 feeds it to the back makes it to the 24 great job by the running back and that's a gain of this one away he hits a booming kick and this one's going to come back to the 20 we've got a first and 10 ball on the 20 yd line hands it to the back a little laundry on the field and we'll find out who it is that penalty drives them back and they're shooting themselves in the foot here well if they can just keep their concentration they'll avoid situ ation like that it's the tailback and he carries the ball for a nice gain the tailback picks up a solid seven yards on the counter [Applause] play try to change the play Drops back to pass throws to the right to his fullback and he's tackled at the 27 yd line and this crowd trying to will their defense to make a stop here on Third and short he may have changed things up here makes the grab and steps out right away and that completion gives him over 300 yds through the air he's been able to get up and down the field all day today moving consistently and effectively after a the field stands well I think the play warranted a review but the call on the field stands they'll throw on first down fires incomplete he was looking for the tight end sure it's disappointing but this is the kind of mechanical flaw you can fix with practice and [Applause] coaching flags are down and this one might be on the offense that penalty will move him back a bit yeah with so many young guys out there it's bound to happen occasionally he drops back brought down at the 35 nowhere to go on the quarterback scramble he may have changed things up here drops back to pass looking long down the left [Applause] side it's fourth down here comes the punter looking to boot this one away he punts it away and it's a great kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a [Applause] Touchback they'll start this drive at the 20 first down 10 yds to go and this one is a beauty flag on the play Let's see what it is clipping on the receiving that one will put the offense in a hole and they'll try to get some of that back on this upcoming play a little laundry on the field and we'll find out who it is holding on the well if you want to ruin a drive just grab a hold of a defender's Jersey so first down once again but a long ways to go after that [Applause] penalty he makes it out to maybe the 16 yd line the running back gets a yard maybe [Applause] less they're changing the play toss left side gets to about the 17 yd line the halfback toss gets them a yard he may have changed things up here drops back to pass and they get the sack [Applause] fourth and long here after the sack he really got a hold of that one this one might be coming back folks let's check out the penalty on the receiving team that one's going to put him way back you just can't block a player from behind like that or it's going to cost you that's three down and one to go our score is Maryland 41 conect at 27 from their own 34 yd line first down looking to throw the back has it and he dropped it it's always good to get your backs involved in the passing game but you never want to put him in a situation like that maybe he should have just thrown the ball away they'll get him for a loss he just never had a chance to get any Running Room the defense was on him almost as soon as the ball was snapped he'll get the call again and he's tackled after positive yardage they just kind of Spun their wheels here but credit the defense with not giving up any ground oh excellent punt got the corner not sure what the flag is about here let's go down to the field and find out clipping on the receiving that's frustrating for a coach when you preach fundamentals every week and then have someone called for clipping that penalty really is going to set them back got it to his man on the screen tackle made at the 17 a seven yd pickup on the screen play you got a the screen pass pretty good blocking in front and it netted some decent yards he's changing things up it's complete he's taken down at the 38 personal foul face mask on the defense probably [Applause] holding it'll be third down again after that penalty yeah now they have more yards to pick up for the first [Applause] down he drops back looking long to the right can't haul it [Applause] in it's fourth down and they're going to try to go for it drops back to pass he Hees it to the end zone but hold on folks there's a flag at the line of scrimmage and that usually means bad they're going to have to give the ball back after going forward on Fourth and long not much you can do there you got to go for it and give yourselves a chance both teams are well aware that a score on was just a little dump off pass to the halfback but it was very well defended keeping them from moving the ball very far down field they come out in a five wide set back to pass complete brought down need to see what this flag is at the line of scrimmage this touchdown might be coming back you've probably heard of said that there's holding on every play it's just not called I don't think it's really that prevalent but you can get away with it sometimes and other times you can't back to pass complete they'll bring him down at the seven yd line back to pass finds the tight end for a touchdown he makes it four scoring passes well he's shown such great Poise back there in the pocket that's the main reason he's been able to find the end zone so many times what's more amazing than anything else is that these guys are still [Music] losing and he misses the extra point it was an eight playay 69 yd drive and they put six points on the board after missing the extra point so our score 41 33 Connecticut to kick this one off he got all of that one and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback I'm sure the return man would have loved to go for six that time this is only a one possession game so I think they need to regain the momentum and try to put this game Out Of Reach [Applause] and they make the stop at the 21 yd line personal foul face mask on the defense first down first down 10 yds to go ball on the 36 yd line Maryland is up by eight and there's a penalty on the play let's see who it's [Applause] on that penalty drives them back and they're shooting themselves 43 he's looking to pass and he scores touchdown and with that touchdown pass this quarterback now has six on the day yeah it's been a lot of fun watching this quarterback go to work on this defense he has them searching for answers and he adds the extra point a short three playay 72 yd drive and they come away with seven points the score now 4833 Maryland is ready to kick it away he got all of that one and they can forget about returning this one time's running short here so let's see what plays out they need to move the ball down the field quickly and efficiently they should maybe even throw in some no huddle to conserve time and he's stopped behind the line well that's just a good call from the defensive side of the football they know what this team likes to run they got the better of them that [Music] time from their own 18 yd line Second down he's looking to pass and a nice catch there before he stepped out of [Applause] bounds he may have changed things up here pass out to the tight end but it's incomplete I think the secondary caught a break there with that ball being overthrown to the tight end I know he's a big fella but he's still a playmaker and that had big play written all over it nice run to the left there he drops back on the catch and he steps out well it was third down so they obviously had to get to the sticks and they did just that with this little pass play
