Boy, just listen uh to those waves, uh hitting parts of southern Louisiana. Some families are facing a scary situation as we come over the air tonight. Hurricane Francine made landfall about an hour ago and this is video from DAC about 70 miles south of New Orleans and we're seeing miserable conditions along I 10 right now. Here's a look at what's happening in LA Place about a half hour west of New Orleans between powerful winds and storm surge. The interstate is barely visible. Meteorologist Jesse Huila is in for Pete tonight and he's got to look at where things stand. Let's take a look at radar here. So we have hurricane Francine, a category two made landfall around five o'clock. Now, winds were 100 miles an hour when it made landfall in Trebon County, uh parish rather uh with gusts up to 100 and 20 there. It is the flooding rain. There's uh Dulac right there. New Orleans, very heavy rain, flash flooding, a real concern here tonight for New Orleans and Baton Rouge seeing very strong winds and heavy rain as well. Now, the latest update has gone back down to a category one hurricane. So it very briefly made it up to category two status before making landfall again. Now, down to a one with winds of 90 miles an hour gusts up to 100 20. There again is the landfall information 5 p.m. near Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana as a category two with winds up to 100. There are the hurricane warnings tonight from Baton Rouge down through the coast, New Orleans under a tropical storm warning for storm surge. 2 to 5 ft, 5 to 10 ft. That's what we've seen there in the south, uh, southern coast of Louisiana and 5 to 8 inches or more of rain for parts of New Orleans.
