Iowa State lost one of its top linebackers in the season opener against North Dakota on Saturday. Head coach Matt Campbell provided an update on Caleb Bacon's status yesterday confirming that he suffered a lower leg injury and had surgery to repair it on Sunday. Now, Campbell didn't give a timetable on when he expects Bacon to return, but did say there's a possibility he could return later this season. I do think he'll be back though here at some point later in the season or have the opportunity to get himself back later in the season based on recovery. Um, but, uh, obviously, you know, that's, that's a tough blow for Caleb just because he's done such a great job. But I think the great news is that, you know, from what it could have been and what it was, I, I think there's a lot of positivity around it too and, and obviously, there's light at the end of the tunnel that, you know, he can make it back this fall. Iowa State will head to Iowa City this weekend to take on their rival, the 21st ranked Iowa Hawkeyes
