going to do through our youth on today we are excited about his word but first we have some announcements that we want to bring to your attention project dream time for you to be moving up we are be free food school supplies lot of activities for the whole family music and community resource connection if you would like to donate any school supplies uh please bring them to the office and we name is elani and I will be reading Psalm 27 verses 1-6 the Lord is my light in my salvation Whom Shall I Fear the Lord is the strong hold of my life of whom shall I be afraid when the wick Advance against me to devour me it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall though an army besiege me my heart will not fear through War break out against me even then I will be confident one thing I ask from the Lord this only do I seek that may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to Gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his Temple for in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me at his sacred sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of Joy I will sing and make music to the Lord [Applause] good morning my name is jeriah I'll be praying for you today dear Lord thank you for dying on the cross for us thank you for being there for us when nobody else was thank thank you for doing all that you've done thank you dear Lord I bless these people all here today thank you for getting us here sa safely in the name of Jesus amen [Applause] amen amen amen amen it's nothing like Sunday morning you know it's I wake up every day and I'm amazed I'm amazed because because it's another day is I'm amazed because I can still see I can still take a breath I'm I'm I'm still in my right mind I was visiting somebody in the hospital and they said that they said God prompted them to walk around and and just walk around on just their floor and when they said they walked around on their floor they saw all of the sickness all of the struggle all of the sorrow but also they saw the Victory and they witness how many people are in darkness and don't have anybody to even come see them so if made them see how grateful they are even they even though they was in the hospital bed on their own so at that moment we just said Lord I Thank you just for right now Lord you woke me up another day so I'm amazed every day that I wake up and then don't let me get to the end of the day to have me look back over the day and so I can see what the Lord has done for me once again and then don't let me get to the end of the week and I look back over the week and I say Lord I didn't know how I was going to make it through this and Lord but you did it again and then don't mess around and let me get to Sunday morning because you if you let me get this Sunday morning to celebrate with the saints of God all the things that God has done for us individually and we celebrate what he has done collectively oh the enemy ain't got nothing on me God has WN again do I have anybody that's Victorious here today and we I know we I know we winning gold in the Olympics and all this type of thing but I need somebody that already want that know Jesus that's willing to celebrate Victory on today Lord we thank you today something that we do I was inviting somebody to church the other day and they said well I'm I'm not really religious I'm spiritual I said well we are do do I have anybody just love the Lord I'm talking about when you're all alone you know you can be it's great to be in the building but sometimes even in my secret closet I can I can have tears flowing down my face I can still give God the coming all the way from Elk River Minnesota to worship with her today can we celebrate p and his whole family brought his whole family with him one of our partners churches and we're certainly grateful for your presence today now if You' have told me you was coming you probably would have been preaching today but hey it's all right we got a great message coming from Pastor young today and we are so excited um any any um any birthdays that have taken place last week or the week coming up any Sheldon August 18th come on can we celebrate Sheldon August 18th having a birthday [Music] any anniversaries or special days things like that that we want that we can celebrate with you August 21st all right yes yes sir August 21st huh who said that oh up here August 12th we got an anniversary in the balcony can we celebrate I'm telling y'all it's something to make it to another week but then it's a whole another thing to make it to another year whether that's your birthday or anniversary Church whatever it is it's a blessing nine years August 20 a miracle n years ago August 21st a heart and a kidney come on now can we just praise God I mean we looking at a miracle right amongst us thank you Lord that's why he does it for so we can tell somebody that God is still in the miracle working business I thought I know I saw another hand over here yeah let all this goodness flow y'all y'all know we have a lot of things to cry about we have a lot of things that uh uh hold you know keep hold us back and things like that but it's so great to celebrate with each other we got something else come on now come on now another birthday tomorrow amen amen oldest granddaughter birthday is today let's celebrate brother Al y'all dressed alike so I know it got to be something y'all got something going on I mean y'all got the same shade of purple you know that's just that is awesome July was 31 years of my working in child welfare and I it's been a long journey it's been a long journey but uh it was time for me to transition um so I know that the eighth month number eight is a new beginning so tomorrow I begin my new position as a um program director and professor at North Central University so I solicit your prayers in this of the social work program I'm a I'm a social worker a clinical social worker and therapist but um this is new be a new beginning for me and it's something it's being a professor is not new to me because I've adjunct for years uh but this is a new beginning for me to walk away from Child Welfare so I just want to solicit your prayers your love your grace and your mercy God's grace and God's mercy because I could not do this without God so I just want to thank you all we celebrate transitions together we family y'all so please keep on pray and y'all do look beautiful today y'all look very beautiful I want to tell you about greater friendship you know we had uh National Night Out the other uh last Tuesday uh where it was great I mean we it was a great time so we appreciate uh everyone that that worked to uh really put that event together uh yesterday we had a um a a event for our Joy Ministry that was just wonderful so thank you for all of those that put it together mother eart you know and your team thank you and everybody that came out um it was a wonderful event at the same time the women Ministry was doing uh their purse sale across the street and was was willing to get some great support uh to raise money for the women Ministry and the uh the youth ministry so if you didn't get a chance to come yesterday there are some purses in the back uh I think they're half off uh for today uh so you know that is going on and if you want to the women Ministry is having their annual Retreat coming up the first weekend in October and last year it was something new that um it was a banquet okay that Friday of the retreat um and this year it's open to everybody the banquet is open to everybody whether you're ATT tending Retreat whether you're a man uh it doesn't matter we just want to come together and I don't she said I don't know if this a uh really encourage people to come or not but uh lady Sharma says she will be speaking at that banquet so if you don't buy a ticket for nothing else like what does she have to say what does the Lord have to say through her and then at the same time yesterday we had Friendship Academy of the Arts Outreach team was in like three different locations trying to uh really spread the word heard about friendship academy of the artarts and enrollment being open I'm telling y'all friend greater friendship this Friendship Community is all about Outreach so can we celebrate each other for for really doing what Jesus called us to do and let's go we got to get out we got to get out we got to engage with the people and today we will be going to uh Macedonia right after uh our services today uh as another way of going they doing they back to school cele cration so if you have school supplies or if you just want to just come hang out come down to Macedonia after service um and we will be there just fellowshipping uh with them uh and as the announcement said the baptism is next Sunday so next Sunday after service uh we will have our next baptism service so if you are interested please see any Minister any Deacon any Deaconess any mother um and we will uh make sure that you are prepared to be baptized next Sunday after service and uh as minister Darnell stated uh uh we well in the announcements that Minister Darnell is celebrating 20 years of ministry with the remnant uh and he has a special uh offer for uh greater friendship uh in terms of tickets those tickets will be $25 for greater friendship so you see Minister Darnell and he will take care of you so uh right now is anybody excited to give back to to the Lord today the Lord have the Lord provided for you this week giving back should be something that should be exciting you know we talked about the giver we pre one of our sermons we preach in this series about the giver and it's given from our heart because we know what God has done for us and continues to do for us because I can look around this room right now and know that I see some blessed people and and and we just got the chance to uh welcome each other into the house of the Lord and I and I know that You' seen some blessed people do I have anybody that's blessed in here today okay I'm so I'm so glad God has blessed me in so many ways and now this is our opportunity to give back uh you can if you need an envelope if you want to give in the sanctuary uh you can W ra wave your hands and uh the ushers will bring you an envelope um and they and you wave your hands when you're ready to give if you want to give in the sanctuary and then we had rehearsal yesterday and then we sang For The Joy event and I said we got to go back up and have rehearsal rehearsal again I said yes we got to sing on Sunday so they said okay so they worked hard they are a blessing to this to me and to this church and we just want to always you know talk to them about God and I'm telling them I said look I'm going to give you some $5 when you start coming to rehearsal giving me a scripture that you read this week and you're going to tell me what it mean to you and you're going to you know apply it to your life and if you can tell me that I'm going to give you $5 they like okay and then they tried to read the scripture they read that day I said no so I said next week so this morning we're going to sing war um I plead I plead the blood he's doing doesn't he always you can ask him to do some things and some things just won't happen the way you want to them to happen so I'm grateful to the god that we serve uh I wrote I typed out my sermon guess what it gone it gone so I'm going to do what the Lord has called me to do Psalms 4 Psalms 4 Psalms 4 if you put that up on the screen Psalms 4 I think it's the eighth verse he says I will lie I will both lie I will both lay me down in sleep not preach and for thou your Lord Oh Long maketh me to dwell in safety if you turn to your neighbor and say neighbor neighbor just go to sleep just just go to sleep just just go to sleep as I look around this room today there are many of us who can attest to the fact that in this World in this country things have changed because there used to be a time that many of us would work a nine to five job don't don't yall act like y'all don't remember them days there was no second ship or third ship many of us worked nine to five we all got up around the same time we all showered and ate at the same time yeah we all left our homes around the same time don't y'all don't y'all get booy on me now don't act like and then we all went to work to our same employment around the same time we ate lunch around the same time yes we we we took our 15 20 some of 30 minute breaks around the F same time and then we left home well we left our jobs around the same same time we went home around the same time ate dinner around the same time we also went around the television watched some television most of us were watching the same thing Andy Griffin and all that stuff around the same time but however my brothers and my sisters life has changed because now we all on own a different schedules our children are on their schedules the the parents are on their schedules most of us don't even eat at the same time because most of the time most time somebody is walking out of the house while our children are come into the house but you got to understand there is a constant that that that keeps us together and that is the constant of we we worry about this we worry about that where is the atheist of Peace did you know that and if you have no peace you have no joy and I'm glad I've got peace and joy at the same time because you got to understand my brothers and my sisters as we go through this life we going to have some trials and tribulations and somebody's probably thinking how dare he he does not know what I'm going through but the good news is I know somebody that's able to carry through whatever you're going through I ought to have some good witnesses there today to to know that in spite of what you're going through we will make it I talking about the schedules the schedules has agitated us the schedules has frustrated us the schedules have changed uh the perer of our lives but the good news is my brothers and my sisters you can go to sleep no no matter what you're going through in life you can go to sleep because I know somebody who's better than cidi Pastor Peter his name is Jesus won't it rock you to sleep well let's look at this text here it is here it is here it is I'm not going to be long because my sinus is jacking me up and I've been feeling bad all week long Pastor said you going to be able to do it I said yeah I'm going to work in the morning if I'm going to work in the morning I need to be able to work for Jesus today isn't that right so here here it is in the text David this is about a man by the name of David David is probably the author of this text this this text is really a text of Thanksgiving a than a text of Praise a thanks a text that says thank you Jesus for what you brought me through here it is it's a text that is really used for the smoothing of your soul because it's a text that deals with the string instruments such as the lyrics and the hearts and those are smoothing for your soul here it is here it is D David David he he he comes in his bed chamber after a long exhausting day and he he begins to reflect on on what the Lord has done for him he began to take a look at how the Lord has brought him through and I need to tell you my brothers and sisters don't miss past go go past reflection because you have to thank the Lord for what he's done for you this [Applause] day I'm talk I'm talking about showing up this day because in the day in the in the morning we get up and say Lord give us this day our daily bread but in the evening we have to pause and reflect on what the Lord has done for us this day because David had to pause and reflect on how the Lord had brought him through many dangers TS and snares y'all do know David's story don't you David had issues in his own family like many of us do David had some issues with those who was in his regimen so so David had to reflect and pause on what the Lord had brought him through and David probably sat down and said I know the Lord has been good to me me because even after all of my sinful ways and sinful thoughts the Lord still took care of me because I was a man after God's Own Heart and you see when you after God's Own Heart God will look at the heart and that's good news so David began to reflect What the Lord Has Done every now and then my brothers and my sisters you need to pause and reflect because pause and reflection will give you ammonition to fight in your next anxiety in your next battle in your next frustration and you can roll the tape back and say Lord this is August 11th and I'm going through some stuff but on May 31st you brought me through something worse than this you can roll the tape back and say Lord this is August 11th and I'm about ready to lose my mind up in here but January the 1st Lord I was going through the same thing and you brought me through so pause and reflection will help you make it through your next destination and I wonder is there anybody here that's going to have some pause and reflection and if you pause and reflect you can go to sleep at night you don't have to worry about counting sheep don't have to worry about what tomorrow's going to bring you'll be able to go to sleep at night well how did David do it David David says to himself that the Lord has caused our gave have done something for me that and I'm going to say it real loud if you don't mind man the Lord has caused me to D dwell in Safety Not only did he give me some peace but he allowed me to dwell in sa y see when my enemies had to come up on me the Lord allowed me to have some peace as well as to dwell in safety and that's good news because even though when you lie down and you got trouble on your mind the Lord will allow you to dwell in safety even when you wake up in the morning your your angry boss is getting on your last nerve the Lord will allow you to dwell in safety every now and then we wake up and we got we got conflict on our calendar brother pastor but the Lord will allow you to dwell in safety that that's me Lo that even though I'm going through the Lord has a way of bringing me through it that's good news isn't it to know that the Lord will allow you to dwell in safety well well I I I I'm I'm trying to leave you but I got to tell you something else about this dwelling in safety I don't know about you but I've got enemies all around me and that's where it was down in in in in Israel they had conflict and they got conflict right now conflict in the East conflict in the north conflict in the west but David said that the Lord allowed him to dwell in safety and I don't know about you but I'm so glad that I have my peace I'm so glad that the Lord allowed me to dwell in safety so I just want to encourage you today as I take my seat to tell you just go to sleep don't worry about tomorrow cuz tomorrow will take care of itself but just hold on to the one who holds tomorrow is there anybody here that know he holds tomorrow and he'll hold your hand I'm not going to worry about what's going on in the world not going to worry about what's going on in my family I'm going to go to sleep tonight I'm going to say my prayers and tell the Lord thank you anybody got thank you praise in their spirit I'm going to tell the Lord thank you for bringing me through thank you for keeping me thank you thank for holding my hand thank Youk you for picking me up and turning me around and then I'm going to go to sleep I got some comfortable pillars I'm going to lay my head down and thank the Lord that he's alive ow me to dwell in safety well how did he do it it was out on the hill called Calvary anybody know about that Hill down on Calvary he was stretched wide hung up all of my hangups he bled and died brought him down from that Old ruged cross put him in a bared grave didn't need it too long because early Sunday morning he got up all of my hope and my peace that's why I say my hope is buil on nothing less than Jesus's blood and his righteousness ah D not trust the sweet is frame but holy leaning on Jesus's name on Christ I say on Christ on Christ the sh Rock I stand all other ground may be troubled all other ground may be tipy topic but I've got peace that flows like a river his name is Jesus he'll walk with you he'll talk with you he'll tell you every every every every every every every every thing going to be all right to just go to sleep tonight knowing that God will take care of you be not dismayed whatever be TI God will I know he will take care of you won't he do it won't he do it H won he do it stand on your feet give him some praise and tell him thank you cuz I'm going to sleep tonight knowing that the Lord will yes yes he will I know he will take care of you and David said he took care of me even in my sinful State Lord God took care of him oh I wish I feel a little better because I got some more to tell you but I've got to do what the Lord told me to do did all I needed to do for him but I'm thankful that I'm going to be able to go to sleep tonight because I've got joy down in my soul I'm going to rest like I never rested before because I know somebody with open arms going to rock me in the Cradle of Love going to rock me like my Grandmama used to rock me going to rub my head and I'm going to go to sleep because he's good to us and he'll take care of us won't he do it I don't fool me now won't he do it and not only not only not only does he watches over us he watches us all night long that's why I like the song that says all night long I've got angels watching over me he just don't take care of you through the day but it's a continuation that's why you can go to sleep tonight because he just not he just not protects you through the day but he protects you all all night long something he's been doing all my life even when I didn't know him he took care of me while you was in your mama's womb he took care of you he took care of you while you was going to school he takes care of you on your job he takes care of you in school I'm just glad that the Lord takes care of me and I'm so glad that trouble is not going to last as always because I've got a god do you know him for yourself want he take care of you and beneath his wings his love abides God will take care of you God will take care of you God will take care of you don't worry about tomorrow don't worry about the day and some of us are going through some trouble right now and you the song says you got to cry sometime but Jesus he'll fix it for you [Music] do you love him I'm talking about do you love him will you obey his word we obey his will he'll fix it for you I'm a living witness that he'll fix it for me he's fixed it so many times and that's why I can go to sleep at night I I don't have time to be worrying about what what going on in the world because he this is his world and he holds the world in the palm of his hand as well as he holds my trouble and problems in the palm of his hand I hear him say I hear him saying just be of good cheer why because he's overcome he's overcome trouble he's overcome frustrations he's overcome earing and everything that we experiencing today he's overcome and I got to say this one of the ways you can tell folk are having [Music] trouble is because it's not in their conversation but the reason you can tell somebody's having trouble because they wake up early in the morning and the eyes are bloodshot red and they walking around mean as a rattlesnake and it's because they had not had a peaceful rest they took their trouble to bed with them they wrestle for the control of the cover with their troubles they did not tell the Lord thank you I'm turning it over you they just they just wear it and wear it and wear it wear it will send you to a early grave and your problems will still be here just go to sleep tonight I have decided to follow [Music] Jesus I have decided to follow Jesus see when you decide to follow him you can go to sleep at night I have [Music] deciding to follow Jesus no turning [Music] back no turning back the world be before me the cross have you decided to follow him today if you decide to follow him you can go to sleep tonight because he will give you exactly what you [Music] need this is our invitation time and somebody needs to follow today Jesus you need to make a decision right now tomorrow the next minute has not been promised to you the next second the next hour has not been promised to you and if you are out of the Ark of Safety and you're wrestling tossing and turning and can't sleep at night because you have not met Jesus because if you meet him he will just allow you to go to sleep he allow you to dwell in safety he'll allow you to have some peace if you're here if you're online wherever you are we we don't care how you come you can come ragged dirty but God is able to clean you up our concern is that you come and get to know him for yourself because he's able to do wonderwork power in your life if you don't believe me just take a look at me and then take a look at yourself I I know where the Lord has brought me from so when I extend the invitation I have to take a look at myself and say lord it's me I was there one day I was down and out didn't know which way to go didn't know where to turn to but then I met Jesus because somebody prayed for me and so if you're here today of you're online wherever you are make Jesus your choice he loves you he cares for you when when when friends are gone you got a friend in Jesus you you can come by letter you can come on your Christian experience you can come as a candidate for baptism we don't care how you come we just want you to come and get to know a savior who's able to save you from whatever you're going through again he loves you he loved you so much that he died gave his on life you don't have no friends going to give their life for you and if they do they not going to get up like he did with all power in his in their hand he's got saving power he's got power to to turn your life around he's got power to make you live right make you talk right make you walk right he's got power to change the direction of your life if I was you I wouldn't I wouldn't delay I wouldn't put off what you can do today I I wouldn't I wouldn't say well I'd do it next week when pastor preaching nope wrong thing to do you might not make it the next week Pastor may be preaching your [Music] eulogy you ought to come and get to know him for yourself and then Unite with this Fellowship body above Believers because you can't get to know him and not be a part of a family that's that's great that's wonderful yeah you say well I'm going to be a part of the family of God well you're not there by yourself no man is an island you need we need each other and so God has if you here and God has placed you in this place this is your moment I'm I'm going to say like Pastor say every Sunday I'm welcoming you right now you are welcome to the greater Friendship Baptist Church right now we have a dynamic pastor we have a dynamic first lady we have Dynamic just put like this we are just Dynamite here on fire for Jesus of Christ and we want you to be a part of the dynamite we want you to be part of the Holy Ghost spirit fire that won't never go out so if you here come my brother come my sister Jesus loves you he cares for you you have people standing around just waiting on [Music] you and I love my pastor we just don't rush through through this hour because somebody's contemplating today I just believe somebody's thinking somebody's don't don't don't don't wrestle with the devil and the angel in your mind the de the he has given us today and then praise God for his Messenger on today we thank you Reverend young you know I often get the question asked you know you know since being Pastor what have you learn like how do you you've been a little bit over two years and I my response is basically I've gotten closer to God than I've ever been I've gotten closer to his people than I've ever been and I learned how to go to bed at night I remember brother Kevin I remember when I first became Pastor Minister Gordon he said you got to figure out how to get rest and that really stuck with me because it's not just about closing your eyes at night because just like he said you can close your eyes at night and still be wrestling in your mind real rest is when you lay down at night and say God I trust you God I still believe in your word and I'm just going to leave it all in your hands and then when I wake up in the morning we going to do it all over again you are going to bless me once again so we thank you for that word today as we prepare to leave can we stand and have can we have all of our youth all of our youth come down to the altar I want to ask that my son um Billy come there there he is right there y'all have seen Billy since he was 2 years old as he entered into this family you all have nurtured him uh you all have supported him come on all of our youth your families all of our youth and the families and then I would like our spiritual leaders to surround our families and our youth the deacons deaconness mothers come on Nia so you all have seen him grow you all have seen him develop and on Tuesday he leaves for the National Guard basic training to serve this country country he's going to be back he's going to be gone for a while then he's going to come back then he's going to go to school in January so I want with along with all of the other youth that we pray for our youth and and those of you that have poured into Billy life pray for him as he goes on this new Journey I'm going come down and lay my hands on them so I can Unite with our fath family and pray um but this is what youth Sunday is about families coming together supporting our youth from our Sunday school lesson today's Sunday church school lesson to the video that you saw at the end to right now to to the worship it's we have to pour into our young people last week God directed us to talk about storing up Treasures in Heaven pouring into each other helping them understand how great they are in the sight of God and the the fact that they don't even realize or don't even know what the what God has for them in their lives that is our prayer as we pray for one another be sure to pray for one another if you are not at the altar be sure to connect with somebody whether that's holding hand hands or whether that's on the shoulder or whether that you on your knees or whatever if you're at home we invite you to pray with us as a community community of Believers we need each other in Jesus name [Music] shall we pray our father and our God as we pause at this moment we pause God and reflect upon this day but most of all God we come in the precious name of Jesus because we know there's power in that name There's Hope in that name there's Deliverance in that name there peace as well as safety in their name we God we pray that you would surround this altar with your grace Your Love Your Truth as well as your mercy pray God that you surround this altar with forgiveness in our hearts because God we are some sinful people but you already know that but we thank you for your grace thank you for your mercy we thank you for your love God there's those around this altar that may be having some situations going on in their lives pray God that you give grant them peace in their spirit and God I pray that you be with these young people these parents those who are going to be leaving the city those who are going back to school pray God that you allow them to dwell in safety we ask oh God that you help us tonight to not worry about bills and trouble and trials and situations God you help us to rest in you because we know God our sleeping is a sign that we trust you so we ask oh God that you would help us tonight let us leave this place God where Joy in our hearts knowing that you already worked out our situations peace in our spirit knowing that you've already moved mountains out of our way and brought us up from the valley we ask oh God that you give parents Direction God around this altar that you would help us as parents God to lead in the way that's pleasing to you and to live lives that's pleasing in front of our children to you God even though God we make mistakes as parents even though God we don't always always get it right as parents we thank you for your guidance and God when we don't get it right I pray God that you help us to lean and depend on you to do what's right now and I pray God that you will allow your spirit to fall fresh among this pastor among his family among these people God will you call the greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church pray God that you help us God to be a perfect example for you in a world God that has so much going on in it but we know God it's your world we know God that you are still in control no matter what's going on we pray God that you help us to be the light in this world as the greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church we just thank you God for all you're doing in the life of this church we praise you God for all the things that you're going to do and all the things that you're already done we pray God that you continue to bless the ministries of this church continue to empower your people continue to give them strength God when they don't feel like going continue to give them hope God when they the only one standing and let them know they're not by themselves we glorify you we magnify your name because you are worthy pray God for those who may be sick those who are dealing with mental illness mental challenges those oh God who are addicted to whatever form of addiction that's keeping them from being close to you we pray God that you touch in a special way be with those behind prison bars God who are those in nursing homes who may be lonely I pray God that you just be with people everywhere and then God there's people who are dealing with the catastrophes of this world or your world deal with floods and fires and hurricanes and dodging bullets God I pray that you would just Comfort them God in a special way because it could be us so I pray that you send Comfort to them and send peace pray for those who lost loved ones God we ask oh God that you en coverage their hearts be with those who are hungry naked and shelterless and then God I pray a special prayer for those who don't know you help them God to get to know you before it's too late let them know God in their Spirit you coming back back one day and we don't know when you're coming God but I pray that you prick their hearts on this day and let them get to know you we just thank you now we give you praise we give you glory in Jesus name we pray amen for [Music] I know that's not yes sir
