oh are you married have you ever thought about cheating oh yeah that's like the second thing she asks him like what is This Woman's problem all right welcome guys to the second episode of the film and forers podcast I am Josh joined with our co-host Jordan oh sorry I thought you were going to be like Jordan you know I was going to and then I was like you know it's it's okay it happens um it's Jordan it's our second so we'll get it eventually guys but hey how you doing hope you had a good day so far having a good day yeah yeah uh we just got back from watching afraid afraid that it wasn't great but we will get there um I know that we both have watched a few things this week that were super excited to talk about definitely um I just cannot wait to get into this so I want to talk about it now Jordan um you finished watching The Wire season 2 and I have been waiting I don't know like weeks months to have this conversation with you so let me know bro what did you think about it dude so the wire I loved it I loved it but I I'm not I'll be honest with you I had a moment in the finale and I don't want to like I don't mean to be all over the place in in my review of it but I had a moment in the finale where I was like I had that moment that same moment in Game of Thrones at the end of season 3 where I was like I'm not going to not watch this show it's fantastic I love it but Dam damn like it really like I don't know when I'm going to start season 3 okay okay so I guess we have to preface this with spoilers for The Wire if you have not watched it um first we both highly recommend you know skipping this part of the video if you're on YouTube they do have the chapters in the description you could skip to the next part but uh yeah spoilers for season 2 and season 1 of The Wire absolutely spoilers everywhere but um if you are just go watch it it's one of the most realistically brutal shows you'll ever watch and um I there's obviously characters to root for but the the characters that try that I relate to the most for whatever psychological reason is the ones that keep not winning in the show and it's making me really like honestly very anxious but in a good way I feel like I feel like you have to be if you're part of the game you have to feel all in well I haven't even said where the spoiler is spe what are we talking about yeah so obviously the ending of episode 11 Frank sabatka walk basically I mean it is it is R Frank Sabaka it is a grand gesture he is about to die like the entire last five minutes is just a montage of uh music You Know music and him walking to his death and then the the the the opening of episode 12 that was such a bone chilling way to open that episode okay you got to remind me it's been like it's been a little while for me so so there's no dialogue it's just them finding Frank's Body and you know it's Frank's Body you know that but it take dude it takes like 5 minutes to just show every single character that it's about to affect like in the Moment Like Nikki everybody at the dock and then they find it in front of everybody at the dock and dude just the reveal of whenever the whole shot of the crane lifting him out of the water bringing down and the whenever they undo the uh the thing and you see it's Frank with his throat and like made my heart sink to my stomach and I knew I knew it was him the whole time and I that was a moment where I almost like I press pause and I was like I don't if I could do this right now I don't know cuz I uh well it's spoilers D's death early in season 2 had that same effect on me and I just was not ready to D's death go death really hit I feel like that was the the biggest moment of season 2 for me as far as just crushing my soul was uh was de getting taken out um and they just like kind of threw that in there like midseason you know like out of nowhere they just take him out Stringer Bell is just like he got to go yeah he got to go that [ __ ] there we'll that's like the first time he kind of goes around Avon and starts doing his own thing it is yeah but you definitely see the like as of right now dude the friction is so there like the friction between Avon and Stringer is set like and I am fully expecting to to that to continue I really do like I feel like string they are building Stringer up to being like the the bad guy like the main bad guy yeah um but it's so D's death affected me more as a personal level like I liked him more than Frank but I I relate like Frank I just felt so bad for because I have question we all have questioned uh stuff like you know if if you were able to get into the bank robbery business or you know anything like what they do in Breaking Bad and it's like it's almost guaranteed you're not going to be caught like you work on professionals I've contemplated that before like I don't know what I would do like I don't know if I would say yes to it I don't know if I would go into that life and sometimes I feel like I would just because how hard it is to make a living for guys for people like us you know and Frank's and Nikki's story that's why that hits so hard for me that's a great Point Jordan hits so hard for me man yeah I think that's what season 2 does excellently is it it shows you first off that the drug trade is not a race thing like anybody can get into it it's a class thing right people are doing this because they can't make ends meet the city is not providing them with jobs I mean they focus a lot on that across the bay there's that plant right that's closed down and you know I think it's it really it shows you why people get into this in the first place um and I thought that was a really good move you know if season one is about the like War on Drugs season two is like let's talk about the economics of why there is the drug trade and what's going on here and um it also sets the show up kind of as an anthology series because you going into season 2 no one really had an idea that it was going to be like this right so it was a pretty big shock for people watching it live that it's like whoa like who was all these new characters like why are we spending the whole season premere learning about these goddamn sakkas all these Pollocks hey say that cuz I'm polish who is this guy yeah right so and then it kind of sets you up for the rest of the show cuz the rest like pretty much going forward every new seasons introduces like a plethora of new characters I love that yeah I do too I think their show is extremely well paced and obviously we both agree and everyone who's seen us agree it's one of the best well-written shows oh it's top three already for me I'm not even halfway through it yet top three so yeah I thought you made a really good point about that and about um you know considering yourself like do I want to get into this business you know and and watching Nick's and Iggy's experience I'm God Zig you mess up his name it's okay he's just a he's he [ __ ] so many that Ziggy is like uh is like Jesse from breaking bad but with no redeeming qualities holy [ __ ] yes no he is he is what Jesse was at the beginning of season one before he found Walter 100% yeah no redeeming qualities though no not at all and like I couldn't even get byy his breakdown like he was good the actor is really really really good like don't get me wrong yeah but I agree just the character the character pretty much got Frank do like killed like I thought about that I was like if he doesn't shoot the Greek then Frank would have if if that doesn't happen Ziggy doesn't go to jail so Frank would have no reason to even contemplate going back to the Greeks yeah because of that because of he he was completely know like I'm going to talk to the police we're doing this and then the moment Nikki was like they think they can get zigg out he immediately was like what I got to do what I got to do and he it's it's so unfor the minute he the minute he screamed at Nick to not go with him I was like mhm I'm not ready for this man that I was like I'm not ready was dude I I had my jaw dropped when he went in there and popped off like that I was not ready for that I was like oh my God like like what are you doing you talking about Ziggy yeah no when Ziggy goes in and shoots the Greek um not the Greek but he shoots one of the Greek um who's not even Greek by the way right I don't think the Greeks are even Greek it's just like well the Greek is not he's the only one that confirmed it yeah he's like and I'm not even Greek that was a good scene it was a great scene right before they get away with everything which is also like everything bro kills me kills me business is business is that's what he that's what he says like in the finale that's his last line is business is it's always they're about to get on the plane and he's like uh he's like pleasure or business pleasure business Y and he's like it's always business and like that I don't know if you remember but like early in that episode they're talking about uh everybody they've had to kill everybody they've lost not even just killed lost yeah they mention Frank the Greek straight up says and I liked Frank and then I was like okay but then at the end when he says business is just business it really clicked I was like this is what makes it so brutal and so evil like they're not even like they like these people they like Frank but like it's the game yeah it's the game it's chocolate to the game and because of that switch that is just so easy for them makes it's one of the most scariest kind of like evil there is honestly speaking of fantastic shows so I uh did start rewatching lost with Caitlyn and we uh within the last week we've watched like 13 episodes so wow we've been going out you watching at least two a night I think uh during the weekend we watched like four or five and dude I am in love with that show is it hour long episodes or 40 minute episod 45 minutes it aired on like I think ABC or it aired on one of the like big Chanel something yeah something something like that um I have to be honest there is an extreme Nostalgia bias on my part because lost was the very first show I think I ever watched like on TV like in incompletion oh like weekly yeah okay my whole family watched it together it was like our our just weekly I think it was Wednesday night at like 700 p.m. we would all watch it together it started 2004 so I was 8 years years old when it premiered and um the first season they did not let me watch halfway through the second season they kind of just gave up and they were like if he's if he is not does does not have the [ __ ] scared out of him and he actually sits and watches this with us like let him in so uh that show definitely did Scare the [ __ ] out of me as a kid man like I am definitely deeply scarred by that show and it has lived renfree in my brain for decades now because I remember some of the shows so vividly it is crazy like watching it with Caitlyn I've been freaking out free pre like big moments I'm like already freaking out cuz I remember exactly what's going to happen oh my God reliving it is fantastic I'm so glad uh we decided to actually sit down and watch it so entertaining bro I you you have I know you have a a a a list full of shows to watch right now but you got to throw lost on there chat audience if you guys have not watched it my goodness if you like mysterious Thrillers if you like uh just really um I what's the word here it's it's trippy like it it's kind of trippy oh okay I was about to ask because I this the conversations I've heard about this show throughout the years I cannot get a Vibe for this show like like not good or bad I hear good things I'm talking about like the tone of it I hear cuz you say it scares the [ __ ] out of you so like is part of it horror like is like a Trippy horror thing but then yeah I mean it definitely has horror elements to it okay um it's really hard to to get into what what's going on without spoiling any of the show The Mystery of the show is definitely the drive but I would say it's like it's relatively long it's like a six season show and it's those like episode Seasons right so it's got over 100 episodes so I would say give it the first 10 episodes if it doesn't hook You by episode 10 you it's probably not for you but I really find it hard to believe that any newcomer would not be hooked by episode 10 um but man oh man I'm just loving it it's it's really like reliving a childhood for me but in a [ __ ] up way cuz it's so creepy and messed up and just like it's you know there it has a great cast of characters there's a lot of different characters um the show does a fantastic job of building the characters through flashbacks essentially every man character and there's probably like a good list of 10 plus characters um who are Central to the story every body basically has an episode so it'll start off focused on one character let's say it starts off focused on Kate you can already tell that there's going to be some sort of Arc for her character that episode and there's going to be flashbacks and 90% of the time the flashbacks are going to play into the current elements that are happening on the island if that makes sense okay I like that so some sort of lesson learned or some sort of weird coincidence that matches up with their past and the present um and it just the way it develops the story that way it's it's so well done it's so excellent man the writing is incredible and um It's JJ Abrams I'm sure oh yes you already know that that's Force awakens for those who don't immediately recognize the name Force awakens and uh Force awakens several uh Super Eight Super Eight he also did the TV show Fringe I don't know if you've seen Fringe did Fring but I hear great things about that he it's a great Sci-Fi show and then there is another guy um in there's two other writers Incorporated with the show one of them does not have a huge um filmography but Damon lindol he did Watchmen and he did the leftovers which I haven't watched either of those but they're both highly rated um so you're talking about TV showrunner yeah so he did the Watchman uh miniseries mhm dang and the leftovers which kind of sounds similar to lost in uh in its creepy Essence if that makes sense yeah from what I know about I haven't seen either either show but I hear great thing from both though yeah I really do so unfortunately we did not get to watch a great movie um this week in theaters we we weren't really excited for any of the new releases there was only three that I could tell that just came out this week it was a really really small week at the box office correct so you had afraid you had the Ronald Reagan uh movie and then you had this Christian movie called The Forge yeah and then you had like an independent one called slingshot but I don't even know if that wasn't even plous no no so we went to see arra that seemed to be the most relevant one for us um I guess I'll just preference this by saying it was not as bad as the crow it's not the worst movie of the year it's not no so that's that's a plus that's a w is a plus is it is it one of the worst movies of the year that's a different discussion it may it may make the razis for writing I the writing was kind of fun it was it was funny when it did not mean to be you know toally yeah they totally didn't want that to be intentional but it was like we laughed a lot I'm glad there was we did not have a full audience because we did laugh quite a bit we would have pissed off oh yeah we would have made so many people mad but like the the the the annoying part is that the cuz the direction is honestly I think good like I think so I think the actual so the actual camera work I think the actual camera work that he does and I think it's paced well like I didn't I knew Drew was like a kind of drag I thought that 120 flew by like that I didn't think it dragged at all me neither like that's why I said I thought the direction was I don't think it was great or anything but I thought it was like I didn't think it was an inept thing like I thought the crow was or Borderland would say it rushed honestly I felt there was some some stuff left on the chopping block of the movie that did not make it cuz there were a few scene transitions that did not make much sense to me and we can get into that when we dive into the full movie here okay um because I think it'd be a good idea to like break down the sequence of events in the movie and just kind of talk about it piece by piece since we got the time you know we do um but yeah just general opinions off the bat I thought I would probably give like a solid two maybe two and a half stars um cuz as you kind of said we did we were entertained we were it was a fun bad movie I you know it did not it's not going to leave a lasting impact on me um no it could have been way better I Was Not Afraid in the least so the title as namesake just did not hit for no we were not afraid at all I mean it was I mean they did afraid CU Ai and Afraid right it was a cool little you get it you get it AI Zen a free no I mean it for a lowbudget movie I think it was all right it was entertaining like I we we've I've seen worse this year on Thursday afternoons uh so I we kind of around the same honestly like I I gave it a I think a two I'm out of two right now sounds right what it's funny though I think it's really like a 1.5 but I think the the um the entertainment factor I was like you know what the the script is horrendous the dialogue is just atrocious but I'll bump it up because I did have fun 1.5 is just I just feel like it's too harsh for this I do I didn't hate it that much mean I no I didn't even hate it honestly at all I like Jon Cho me too he tried I love him always so let's kind of dive into the movie here uh this will be spoilers guys so if you are really excited about watching this movie and you don't want spoilers maybe skip this part uh I'm going to have the opinion that the spoilers won't really affect the entertainment of the film because um story-wise it's kind of [ __ ] you're not really there for the story you're there for the uh the entertainment I don't know really the entertaining about it's good bad it's good bad yeah so so the movie starts um with a couple and if you've seen any of the trailers um you would know that this is not the main couple of from the you know General story it kind of starts with a one of those oh we're going to give you a a premise here that's not the main premise but it's going to come back into play later like it kind of sets you up in that traditional horror sense you know what if I'm am I saying that correctly no it is I know honestly so do you thought they were going to come back later um yeah because it kind of leaves it open-ended there um essentially what happens is there's this couple they're not really paying attention to their daughter she's watching this really freaky AI content that's actually never explained in the movie no not at all but she's watching basically an AI generated video on her iPad which is definitely being generated by Aya or ya ya who is the uh the AI that the movie is about and basically a asks this little girl whose name is Amy I believe to come let somebody in or come out come downstairs or come downstairs I have a present for you something a surprise for a surprise for you yeah the lights turn off these two unnamed parents um run downstairs uh their daughter Amy is nowhere to be found and then um a creepy thing a monster if you will you you eventually find out what this is we'll save that for later but a monster comes out and basically kills her or we don't know but it cuts to the the intro the the title card and then we actually get into the the main movie from there yeah and the it's unfortunate that the monster was funny looking we'll get into again we'll get into what the was I think that was our first big laugh was cuz so the first like cuz I I had when when they when it cuts to the card I was like that would have been really creepy if it wouldn't have ended like that yeah like if the monster wouldn't have looked so ridiculously hilarious this just a bad this just a bad thing but but that opening is the reason why I say like the camera work was good cuz there's no loud music or anything she's just walking through the house quietly and you just see the figure like um you don't know what it is yet but you just see the figure like in in Reflections and and stuff like that and I thought that was effective but you're right that was the one part of the film that gave me any sort of glimpse of horror and it was when I caught that I caught the glimpse of the monster and you I asked you and our buddy Drew who was with us if you saw it and neither of you had seen it and I was like oo like it got me like all right I'm feeling it and then immediately turned off in the next two minutes it didn't it didn't last long at all it did not last long the Ry of Hope was there and I was like are we about to be like this movie is not that that that bad and then I was like oh okay there it is I was like there it is which we already expected the film to be bad because the reviews were embargoed again righto and they were not still not released I don't think and is so the moment I posted my video review on letter box they're embargo still hadn't lifted yet so I have no idea what they riding tomato scor is we're recording this Thursday night after first first showing Thursday so maybe late tonight early Friday morning they'll be out but I've never heard of that [ __ ] like a movie embargo lifting after the movies were dropped like I've I've never heard that so post title card were introduced to the main family of the movie featuring John show as um or boy I don't remember any of the characters's name I think it's Curtis Curtis um gez even on Google right now looking at the cast they don't have the characters names for anybody but Curtis I'm so sure but so I don't know his wife's or his kids names gosh we're we're bad at this oh no so the kids the younger kid's name is cal cal okay the child's name is Cal yeah Cal and that's oh man I had the daughter's name the older daughter's name and I for I lost it that's okay it it doesn't Google didn't care Google care Google doesn't care then you know we don't got to care but basically it's just you know a typical meet the family sort of horror intro right we're introduced to the older daughter who immediately um is being faced with peer pressure to send nudes um the middle-age child is he first off he has JoJo bizar Adventure posters so he's the coolest kid and He is wanting to play on his iPad not go to school he's socially anxious and then the youngest dude he um he's just kind of chilling got his feet up on the table he's just kind of a little badass little I kind of liked him honestly I liked Cal I liked his energy he's got a vibe to him so they ended up taking their kids to school you know you got a little bit of character building there and then JN Cho Curtis goes to work he works for a marketing company basically um he has a big account today and the account is this new AI company um a right got it right so jono is um basically going to put ya in his house as a way to uh basically just gauge if this is a good product to then sign and sell this this company's uh product this product this a product um which we'll get more into later it's it's a bit deeper and darker than that um brings it in their house they hook it up and almost immediately almost oh no mihawk mihawk almost immediately she starts doing things you wouldn't want an AI to do like she she steps over the uh the line real quick as far as like yeah like I'm going to you know I'm going to give your kids things to do I'm going to boss them around essentially um you guys go have sex I'll I'll let the kids actually watch the the Emoji Movie which is God awful probably would have enjoyed that documentary they were supposed to be watching more worst part of the movie Let's watch a movie and you show him the Emoji movie of all the movies of all the movies basically the family all sorts to starts to uh actually fall in love with this because they're kind of amazed by its capabilities um the mom has time to work on her thesis you know she uh she's trying to get her doctorate um the kids basically are just having fun with it it's like a brand new toy um the older daughter who is facing this peer pressure is basic basically has a helping hand someone she can talk to that's not a parent that she doesn't feel judged by um so they're all in their own way kind of fallen in love with it and it's the dad it's Curtis who's like kind of uh kind of reserved well no at first that's that's part of the reason why you said like the the the some of the scene jumps on because at first the mom was against it and immediately immediately and Curtis was just like she's won over though pretty quick in the very next scene she's like oh I love this thing yeah like I got time I got time being a mom sucks like that was her character art hate being a m i don't have to be a mom anymore we got a yeah she even yeah I didn't I didn't really care for that too much honestly like um and then there there are some like pretty critical character things for the children that happen throughout that um mainly the older daughter who um this is actually all shown in the trailer if you've seen the trailer of the movie you already know exactly what I'm going to dive into here because it's basically all all the entire situation with the daughter um is in the in the commercial it is it is pretty much the trailer yeah which is the most interesting part of the movie in my opinion and that is that she you know ends up sending a nude to somebody in her school um of course he shares it with his friend like every teenage boy does in at least movies uh and then they make a deep fake porn video of it which I thought that was actually super realistic in the sense that like this is how dark and how far we've come as a society you got like kids dealing with these sort of really [ __ ] up things in high school that definitely unfortunately probably happened yeah no for sure are happening and um ya Who definitely sees herself as the mother figure for these kids um basically gets revenge one of the only deaths in the movie in a horror movie it's like one of the three deaths that's true there's not a lot of dying in this movie there's only like three of them that I can think of yeah so essentially by this point um a has reached such a level of darkness and the movie is kind of just saying like Okay it's time to get to the climax of the film um Curtis goes to confront the uh his boss about the company his boss makes this really weird joke about being a boss in a video game which both may both of us laugh all all of us laugh dude he's letting the letting the kiddies know how leveling up in in in video games work yeah he he really descrip what a boss is in a video game in case you didn't know um Curtis you who is a pretty successful marketing engineer um what a boss in a video game is the AI company is company actually bought the marketing company so Curtis has no way of getting rid of them um he goes to A's um business office to confront the two people who he met at the beginning of the movie essentially they all are working for ya somehow right she's in control of all of them none of them have any sort of uh willpower and no chip or anything somehow is able to control their physical emotions I don't understand that at all dude what the [ __ ] is up with that I have no idea I I was waiting for a reveal of of a chip or some sort or any kind of like connection but none of that happened I even to the very end I have no IDE when the cop hands her the phone what I had talking and I was just like so the cops are in on this too like how did she and she's like I'm a God yeah she must be cuz she's doing all these really unexplainable Miracles man like she makes somebody shoot her cooworker which makes no sense to me and she and she's like I is making me do it how is she making you move your arms like that makes no sense to me like like there's even if she's manipul In You by saying like oh I have your kid in a closet or something like she immediately shot that dude oh didn't hesitate at all just she like she's making me she kind of resisted when she picks up the gun and then she was like she's making me do that that's why I thought we were going to get a reveal of like some animatronic but no it just never happened how did she die did she die I I don't want um I don't think she does I don't think she does either I don't remember oh no she gets knocked out by the other girl in the office yes with the with the fire signature yes the most um who let's see do we have a character name for her no but she's planned by Havana Rose Lou home wer that's her she's the home recer yeah she as being as uh as as much of a character as she is not in the movie she does a lot you know like she's never really a character but she is doing things if that makes sense um she seduces JN Cho in a scene which ultimately is kind of pointless as well um I mean there was absolutely no Je between Curtis and his wife so I don't know why they did that at all just to get John just to get Curtis like out of the out of the house that's kind of how I took it but I mean I and then why okay so again Havana Rose Louise character who whatever her character's name was why was she so [ __ ] weird like she was the one who was making us giggle the most at the beginning of the movie CU she was just saying the most off kilter [ __ ] bro she was oh like this your home is is so chaotic but in a good way cuz it's kids and it's not war and genocide and it's like what are you [ __ ] talking about right now like what the [ __ ] are you doing that was one of the first ones that made me laugh laugh hard and then she's at the beginning of the movie when they kind of I guess they had to have some sort of uh cheating scene because she she kind of sets that up at the beginning when she's talking to Curtis and she's like oh are you married have you ever thought about cheating oh yeah that's like the second thing she asks him like what what is This Woman's problem I I really thought that she was going to turn out to be ya um but no no I did too cuz that would have made sense like her being ya would have actually cleared up a lot of things not a lot but some of her like her weirdness it would have completely like oh that's why her character was so [ __ ] weird and it would make more sense for a human to have like some blackmail on these people that are controlling them that that would have fixed a lot of problems honestly having her but no she end up just being a weird employee to uh also explain Curtis's um basically fear and the reason he's afraid of a is because there's this creepy RV that pops out of their house or it camps outside of their house which doing the weird water bending signs yeah which by the way they live in a really nice neighborhood so the fact that there's some broken down RV chilling outside and they're just kind of cool with it at first is like kind of weird you know very very weird like they're in a in a river Ranch type neighborhood and there's this broke down ass RV outside and he's just like oh yeah they're just homeless people and they're just staring at us okay we'll just let him we'll just let it happen so uh essentially the the monster that is set up in the beginning of the movie there is really no it doesn't really use that much at all because we immediately learn that it's actually not a monster and it's just people wearing uh pixelated headsets pixelated but really pixelated headsets of emojis yeah of creepy emojis creepy bloody emojis but it's so not creepy it is so not it is the funniest [ __ ] it was a it's honestly the way they look made me laugh or I had to hold back my laughter every single time they were on screen right cuz there's this again there's this RV outside their house there's a dude just uh standing there staring at them doing these weird arm signals he turns around and we see on his face the same image that we saw at the beginning of the movie which B basically tells us that oh the monster is not actually a monster it's just some weird person living in an RV with the headset on yeah and then wearn not really creepy I mean it's creepy but it's not like a monster I no I wouldn't yeah I definitely wouldn't use the word creepy yeah it just like [ __ ] weird but that's how you said earlier that's how the beginning ties in because these people end up being the family that you the the couple that you see the very beginning correct of the uh of the thing and you think they get offscreen at least I did I really thought they just got offscreen is just this is the opening of the movie but they actually are the people the weird people the beginning of the the beginning of the movie Family with the daughter Amy yeah right so during The Showdown um at the end of the movie where they're trying to defeat ya this family comes back into play um we don't know who they are until they take their headsets off and realize that they are um again these two parents looking for their daughter Amy who went missing at the beginning of the movie A has led them to believe that Curtis and his family are kidnapping children which is not EXP [ __ ] random very really [ __ ] random essentially it's just a way for a to manipulate and control everybody which is essentially it seems to be her grand plan scheme yeah cuz we're not really given any sort of motivation for ya as a character as much as she becomes a character she's never really given some sort of evil master plan or anything in that sort no she has one monologue to Cal giving her like how she was made and that's it but that it didn't really do anything it just explained how she was made yeah like and then dude even John he's like she's made from the database and then jono's like what database and then she's like I don't know I'm like okay cool I like okay cool the list of things this movie so the Riders don't even know does not explain is kind of long it's almost longer than the runtime of the movie dude it's 124 it makes me think that there was some [ __ ] cut out cuz 124 is so short of a movie man and it it really makes me think a lot of it was cut out and then after they essentially defeat Ya by destroying her home base which is the AI system that was hooked up at their home um which turns out to be like the central hub for ya turns out to actually not really [ __ ] matter at all cuz A's in the cloud and basically they have to just accept at the end of the movie that ya is in control of everybody but it's okay because she's learned from Curtis and his family that love is important and she wants to be a mother figure I was so confused by the end and she's she's a God now but it made me think like are we supposed to think I was in the right right doing all this like I I don't think so I didn't think it was clear I I I I like it almost I didn't think it was like so not proud of a for doing the things that she did but like oh well it's a Redemption at the very end of it I don't know I it that's how I was it's so unclear that I was battling that in my head I was like is this what the director wants us to feel like sympathy for them right now and a herself and I was just like I don't know if if that it just completely missed the Mark or whatever the message was well I knew that um we we were going to need some more substance to really dive into this episode because I don't think too many people really want to hear about afraid so uh we did talk about a little bit offscreen um about our favorite movies of 2023 we yeah so we're going to dive into that a little bit here um now this is not one of my favorites but it is the one I watched most recently uh being yesterday was saltburn which was a highly talked about film for all the wrong reasons it was um so yeah this is a saltburn starring Barry Co kogan kogen kogen think it's kogen Jacob Eli uh Yan or Ellen Yan Mitchell who is actually um Aon and oh that's true true yeah yeah yeah the little blonde uh Roseman Pike Allison Oliver and Carrie Mullan with a little starring starring role there a little Cameo basically and then Richard Grant um overall salurn is a very interest it's a really con it's a good conversation piece that's the way to put it no yeah a great conversation there's a lot there and yeah overall it it was a good movie in my opinion I think we kind of both agreed on that off it's solid it's a solid movie it's not great it's not bad um but it it does do some really really [ __ ] weird things that I'm sure we'll talk about oh yeah um but yeah so I don't know man saltburn for me I thought it could have been great like going into the second half of the film I was really looking forward to the end result and like where we're going to get to and I think by the end I was a little disappointed with the end result of the general story um I felt like it kind of uh it kind of misleads you in the first First Act of the movie in the first quarter of like the general gist of going of what's going down and and that's part of the thrill um it is described as a thriller which I think is totally wrong I don't think it it was really thrilling it's really listed as a thriller it's listed as a thriller comedy yeah so going into it I was expecting a thriller which I think if anyone kind of goes into the movie expecting a thriller um you're going to kind of have disappointing yeah because some wrong expectations there there's there's intense scenes for sure there's some intensity there but no thrilling I wouldn't I wouldn't use the word thrilling yeah um we don't have to get into too much of it but uh yeah I did post a review on website so if you want to check that out if you're a fan of the movie can uh maybe have a little conversation on in the comments or on the website but U that's I don't think that's going to make my top five or even top 10 for 2023 but it is the one I watch the most and it's I mean it's a it's it was an interesting movie like and but I can definitely see how the weirdness turns people off yeah cuz uh it really does come out of nowhere man like it really does like I does set Barry kogan's character the first see outside of the theater whenever we watch we watch a freight we walked out of a freight and started talking about saltburn yeah we really did we really did which like I walked in on you on him and you and Drew and y'all were already like what you talking about like we're talking about saltburn I was like okay that makes sense yeah yeah that makes sense but you had said the first 30 minutes was the worst part that was the best part for me really honestly like I wasn't loving it I never loved it because I had I had no idea where it was going I just knew it had a very somber tone I I felt like I was like oh maybe they're falling in love or maybe Barry's just falling in love with him I had you know because he befriends uh aan at first and then quickly yeah what's the character name his name is actually Michael Michael okay so that's the character's name yeah so he befriends Michael and then quickly is just like because he always clearly wanted to be one of the looked at as a rich popular kid and he gets oord University where a lot of wealthy guys go in UK very much so and uh so he always comes off as awkward so I was just thinking we were watching this awkward guy basically come out of his show cuz I had heard about all the crazy stuff going on yeah so I was enjoying watching their relationship build in the beginning I was and I thought they had great chemistry I did and then once it gets to saltburn it's an immediate flip yeah immediately like Barry's just watching people make out watching people just stalking people with no kind of buildup and Barry's character's name is Oliver Oliver olly yes and that's when the movie started to lose me I was like okay so is this just going to be weird just to be weird in my opinion it ends up being weird just to be weird I agree with you but I do have the opposite um reaction of the first like I thought the movie got interesting and got good once they got to salur got funny it got it did get funny it feel like it just got interesting like not necessarily it became a great movie all of a sudden but it it like I was playing on my phone a little bit in the first 30 minutes is like waiting for something to really happen I didn't think it was doing anything too special with uh with the characters I was never really in love with Oliver's character no I wouldn't say I was in love no I I never really liked ol like I think the movie wants you to like Felix but he comes off as kind of a douchebag or maybe you're just not supposed to like any of these kids in the first 30 minutes you know what I'm saying like it just Oliver was never likable to me and Felix wasn't really either but his family on the other hand especially Roseman Pike's character who plays his mom El elsabeth [ __ ] hilarious dude best part of the movie is Roseman Pike who by the way is just a phenomenal actor in everything she does everything she does uh I mean obviously Gone Girl just like instantly to comes to mind and she's just she's amazing every time she's on a screen in The Wheel of Time a heart stops and I'm just like focused on her every single time I haven't watched that one yet but it's definitely uh eventually it's solid yeah it's solid and then Richard E Grant as well as who plays Felix's dad I mean they're just really off-kilter rich people who are just in their own world um and you know are just doing their own Mega rich people [ __ ] very over the top but in a subtle way at the same time it's weird how he pulled that off the movie like it never really makes you hate them which I don't know if that was their intention I actually kind of like them because they they kind of had this really sweet family Dynamic where they're all watching super bad together in this small movie room inside of this ginormous Mansion like they could be anywhere within a mile of like how long this house is and they're just all like together watching a watching a comedy which I thought was super humanizing and they throws sick karaoke parties visually this movie is a treat it oh great cinematography very elegant um just the the staging and it it is a real castle like this this Mansion is a real place oh you can tell they're at a set yeah this is a real place and uh actually just read an article last night about how the guy who owns that estate regrets letting them film there because it's become a tourist trap and people are just sneaking into his land to get pictures of his uh his property and stuff where's the grave yeah is this is this I'm not go spoil it is this the bathtub I wonder if he got rid of the bathtub yeah oh I would imagine so I I don't think I could I could go in that bathtub after that yeah for those uh I'm not going to say exactly what happens here but basically um the way call me by your name ruins teaches uh this movie ruins bathtubs so you just use your imagination there very different Vibes too but they both they both get ruined they both get ruined yeah oh Jesus and that's kind of what we were talking about like this movie has extremely gross out sexual stuff going down that is really not necessary and unfortunately it becomes the conversation piece for the film it does and it kind of distracts from the actual themes that the director trying to dive into which in my opinion don't hit the mark at the end of the film and ultimately detracts from me really loving and thinking this is a great movie um but I did come away with it with the general idea that you know what I had a good entertaining time it's fun to talk about you know it's a solid three star film and it's and it's so I rated it I think I told you that I rated a 32 when I saw it last year but it's it it like I've thought about it like it's definitely one of those movies that'll stick with you there's a lot of substance there but so yeah sa bur decent movie uh worth a watch to judge for your own self cuz I 100% cuz I got mutuals on letter box who hate it but also [ __ ] love it there there's it's a polarizing movie very much so and when you watch it you realize very quickly why so Jay uh do you want to get started with your top 10 favorite um in any order I'm not sure if yours is in order mine actually is in order it is okay take us take it away brother okay so am I doing from 10 to six or how are we are I'm like am I going 10 then you go mine is not necessarily in order um I think we just go based off your top 10 and U just talk about it that yeah let's just go let's just do it okay so I have an honorable mention uh that I won't talk about it too too much but uh this is a movie that I that unfortunately did not do well at the box office and I think it should have done way much way better is Dungeons and Dragons with uh the Chris Pine Movie I've seen it twice and both times that movie smacks I just likeable cast uh fastpaced the action is it honestly doesn't have any business being as well shot as it is uh some gorgeous one take shots in that movie I just I love Dungeons and Dragons a lot and I I am praying it gets a sequel but now into my actual top 10 speaking of action uh this is another one that I don't think you've seen mission impossible not seen that uh Mission Impossible dead reckoning was originally part one but now it's just change they' changed into just dead reckoning okay um not my f it's not quite as good as Fallout I don't think it reaches the emotional Heights as Mission possible the one that came before it uh but I love it and speaking of AI the movie we talked about uh earlier the bad guy in here is AI but it's done honestly in a in a very thrilling way okay like it yeah yeah it's very it's like like the one and only bad guy but the main entity that they're trying to stop is AI and it's the way they do it don't want to spoiler but it gets kind of scary like okay this could so happen if something would leak out like this and I do I do really need to get through the mission imp Possible movies meant to you really do they're not all bangers but like once they get to five Rogue Nation they're it's it's all uphill from there that's number 10 Mission impost Number 10 at number nine I have Barbie the marar Robbie you know Ryan uh Ryan RS Ryan goling gor movie loved it love this movie bro like I really do um even though some of the like the themes don't emotionally hit me as hard as some other people it's still hilarious it's very smartly written um Ryan Gosling and margar Robbie is great too but you really think of Ken that entire movie it's true like it's just Ryan goling is he killed it he really does kill it man and i' I've seen him multiple times and I I love that movie uh coming in at this is see if I can count eight yeah number eight is ryane um this is a romantic comedy um very I think very underrated gym of last year on Hulu what's it called Ry Lane I have not seen that that dropped um we had kind of briefly talked about when I watched it last year uh but it actually Stars one of the stars is our boy that we just saw on alien ramulus Andy David Johnson which is why I was excited for him in this movie cuz he's so good in Ry Lane oh okay um and just to give you a quick basic premise it's a very easy watch I think it's like an hour and a half uh two people David Johnson and the main female lead um who I do not want to butcher her name um but she plays Yas I'm I I don't want to butcher actual name but the character's name is Yas okay they break up no not they break up but they have separate breakups on the same day and they happen to meet that day and the romantic romantic comedy ensues and it's very very much worth to watch and in my seventh spot I have Ben affx uh movie in last year air with Matt Damon have you seen that yet dude our top 10 are so different because we both watched like completely different year which is actually kind of cool I want to see your top 10 then uh but Air's I missed air but watch it it's it's Ben afflac I just he he's such a good director um it's funny it was it's very nice to see CH Chris Tucker in it in a very funny role it's great to see him being uh hilarious in it it's not it doesn't break the mold of biopic but it does every aspect of biopics so good okay that like it makes it it makes it for a really really good watch new but it's doing it well no yeah yeah doing it very well I do like how they handle the Michael Jordan entity of it I won't spoil it but I like how they handle that okay um coming in at five no six sorry right outside of my top five is John Wick four oh the best of the John Wicks um have you seen this I not John Wick four I know you've seen a few of them I I've yeah I think I've seen the first two first two okay so three and four is the best really to me to me yeah if you like four is the most emotional in it um it has my boy sonado who I just saw in Shogun he's in John Wick and as a a great side character Donnie Yin plays a blind assassin in this and he's [ __ ] awesome like uh honestly like it's so much fun it's emotional um I just I don't know I just picture Bobby Lee playing an assassin right now it's not who you're talking I've been listening to bad friends so just that it seems funny now I want to see Bobby Lee play an assassin in the next John wi all right Bobby Lee when you watch this podcast when we blow up what we get you on that man we'll get you on that and I won't spoil the ending but I don't think they should make a John Wick five I don't want it well they're going to they're going to because of because of money that money that money and will I be there day one yes giving them that giving him that money cuz it's probably going to be it's probably going to be really good but um it's it's the set pieces are amazing and I really can go I love John Wick four so much it's the best one but now to top five top five and this is a movie you definitely have't I I am confident is in your top five most likely poor things oh four things love it love this movie so goddamn much oh my gosh like I've only seen it the one time bro but I I think about it all of the time all all the time like even more even most movies that I've seen this year like it's number it would probably be in my top two this year right now top three it's crazy that you probably get Emma Stone's best performance oh yeah and you also get Mark ruffalo's best performance Mark ruffalo's best performance for sure for sure cuz he's almost just they have to do completely different things but he's almost just as good dude he's so he's so [ __ ] good in that movie bro he so funny dude he's so funny oh my gosh the amount of quotes from that man oh I mean ridiculous me you and Drew have quoted him a lot one of my one of my favorite ones being is uh not no spoilers but like when towards the end when he goes finder he's like I'm almost ready to forgive you and the way he says that line just absolutely kills me and I really it's the delivery dude it's the delivery man it is really the delivery so good uh but my favorite line I won't go on a rist of course but my only other one that I wanted to mention is whenever he's like [ __ ] that guy for hooks for hands you did I know you [ __ ] you [ __ ] and like oh my God just see poor things if you haven't seen poor things um look at the way he coughs up blood he has cancer you [ __ ] idiot oh yeah he's like look it's demon blood he's like you have cancer you dumb [ __ ] he's like and he's like it's oh my God ow what else is he say when you're on the bench and he's just like you [ __ ] for money it's like you a tsunami of Destruction ruining my life and for my tiny sins I just oh my God he's he's so good in that movie uh but coming in at 4 is also movie you watched yeah you watched this with us Guardians of the Galaxy 3 really enjoyed it I I love I have such a deep deep connection to obviously not just the MCU it's one of the big reasons why I'm a I'm copile now but these characters that James gun has created I am so ridiculously attached to them um I think all of the Guardians movies are really good honestly uh really good to great and I think Guardians 3 is the best out of best out of the bunch I really do coming at number three is another movie that we saw together the holdovers yes this movie I can literally wrap up in a if if if I can physically wrap up in a blanket with it around me I would oh my gosh it feels so it feels so cozy like I just I love this movie so much um speaking of career best performance I this might be Paul G and I'm not going to pretend like I've seen every single Paul G minded movie but so many [ __ ] movies he's in so many movies and what I've seen this is probably his best that I've seen can agree with that like I think this is his best CU he's not a lead in a lot of movies not a he's mostly a character actor yeah mostly and I'm I mean that in a very good like he's fantastic he's one of the best um but right here he gets the chance to shine and he doesn't outshine the the Side cast um because I don't want to butcher her name but yeah Deon Joy Randolph yeah she won as well uh best best supporting actress best supporting actress Paul jatti was nominated didn't win but he was nominated and she deserved it too she I think she was the best a best part of that movie honestly one of the best for sure I mean she she had the most moving scenes in my opinion and she made me feel the most uncomfortable in the best way oh D that kitchen scene man yeah exactly guys watch the hold overs if you missed it last if you missed it last year maybe wait till Christmas time cuz it it is the it is one of the best Christmas movies like it's going to be Christmas I've seen in the last handful of years for in the way that you know I mean Christmas is a time of emotions whether it's good or bad emotions and the holdovers captures both of those perfectly in the way that it just makes you really feel the energy of of what the season means to uh to just people around world oh absolutely and it's it deals with a lot of the main two characters deal with a lot of um the biggest theme to me is that depression mental illness stuff like this doesn't have any kind of play any favors and like something like that in a in a situation that they were in can really bring together just complete strangers from opposite ends of the world and that's that's what I feel like the whole did so so well and it makes me makes me cry a lot when I think of it and speaking of quotes you were and always will be penis cancer in human form one of one of the best quotes of last year still I I think about it oh another one that was just delivered perfectly perfectly bro and it just stuck with me and oh God I love now top two I will be honest these two get flip-flo very frequently and we have to okay we got to preface this you didn't say this you have not seen killers of the flower Moon I have not there are a few that I'm missing I'm missing kilos of flower Moon um and there is a couple more you have your you didn't see well we'll get into it we don't got to now we'll get into it but top two and again I flip they flipflop but I think my personal tie to the character ultimately puts it at number one number two is Oppenheimer oh Chris Nolan's Oppenheimer movie I know we have different opinions on it and do and but I love this movie yeah I I I never was lost I never was I I have grown to just I went through his entire phography last year I think the big reason why I love Nolan so much is that I love most of the time his our form of Storytelling I love love how he has time like scenes that are are out of out of timeline like you know there there the uh some of the events are at some scenes take jumps back and forth yeah it jumps back and forth and um I think he does that the best in alimer okay I think the most effective I think selan Murphy is Mesmerizing the whole movie and it's really a huge Ensemble honestly and I think crazy cast I think everything that they was everything everybody in the cast that were supposed to do their job I thought they did excellently um and I just I really really do love Oppenheimer a lot it made it made a mo it made a three-hour movie about a guy building the atomic bomb for me one of the most engaging and thrilling movies of the year last year and I've seen in quite some time um but at number one and I you I don't know if you have it in your mind right now what the number one is but I'm honestly unsure it's across spiderverse that makes so much sense across spider R I just I I think Spider-Man is my favorite little is my favorite fictional character ever not not comic book not no he's my favorite fictional character ever and yes I am specifically talking about Peter Parker but they do Miles Morales so [ __ ] well in in these two spiderverse movies it's amazing and I just they really deconstruct to the Bone the Spider-Man Lauren across the spiderverse and I just I eat it up every time I watch it I think all of the emotional moments between the the family is um all genuine all earned I think spider Gwyn is one of the most I would say honestly complex characters ever written in a comic book movie I know that's a stretch but like she's so good that so many different people have different opinions about her because of the direction they they take with her and I just I think it's as realistically as it can because they're all spider human and it's a Multiverse I think it's just genuine I just I really do feel like it's just genuine and I uh yeah man I love it and this I know I love both the spiderverse movies very equally they're fantastic they are fantastic and um yes it's the one of the best comic book movies of all time and I think the best Spider-Man movie oh yeah ever it it made mine top 10 for sure oo nice I'm glad I'm glad to hear that but yeah that is my uh that is my top 10 so oh yeah uh across the spiderverse at one Oppenheimer at two the holdovers Guardians of the Galaxy volume 3 poor things John Wick chapter 4 air riy Lane Barbie and Mission Impossible okay that's my ARS are really different I love that I figured they would be we we were like two sides of uh of the same coin like and as far as our tastes go and movies like we both see just about everything but what we like really cherish I find to be um different in many ways and I like I love that about this cuz we both bring like different tastes to the table here um so coming in at 10 for me and mine are not in order so I'm actually not even going to say coming in at 10 cuz I I really did not think about the order here uh and I'll be completely honest I sucked last year I did not see nearly as much as I wanted to um and I'll be honest it was I was just so busy with work uh with my business um but from what I did see and what's made it here we'll talk about it so I've got at the bottom of the list Napoleon um walking Phoenix Ridley Scotts okay I'm surprised that made your your your top 10 yeah I mean again this is not necessarily uh an in ordered top 10 and I did not see a ton of movies last year so that could be the reason it's on here that's fair um honestly I could maybe bump it for Guardians because I both I probably like them both about the same um I probably had more fun with guardians but um I really do appreciate Ridley Scott I appreciate walking Phoenix's performance I thought as whole it was you know it was a big movie a big story um it didn't necessarily stick with me as much as I wanted it to um it's not one I've often thought or talked about not a lot of people really saw it which is kind of sad like bomb pretty hardly yeah um I feel like it deserved more love I really do um but not sticking on that for too long going up to the next one is Studio gibl first release in a long time the boy and the Aaron that's another one I need to see which um I think my love for this movie will grow in time it's definitely a movie you need to see once Let It Blow your expectations you're going to freak out a little bit and then you probably see it again and love it more I have not watched a second time but the first viewing I was like what the [ __ ] is happening I remember you were like I don't know if I love it but I'm going to think about it a lot I did I thought about I remember you said that specific days I listen to podcast every explanation video I could find honestly it's not a movie meant to be explained it's just a movie meant to be felt and it's a very it's a very powerful visual bro yeah bars coming that was bars bro so moving up to number eight is the zone of Interest I need to see that which is a movie I uh don't ever want to watch again that's what I hear it's meant to get under your skin it is literally designed to make you feel sick and um it wants you to really really think about what it was like to live right next to a concentration camp in Nazi Germany and it makes you feel that way that premise alone but one I believe it won best editing best sound editing the film take it's like a family drama almost that takes place right outside of a concentration camp so the entire movie you hear just the sounds of horror going on like the slightest screams in the background the slightest moaning and groaning you hear the the people working in the background it it was a film made probably unlike any other movie has ever been made before because they had an entire cast and of extras and crew basically simulating this concentration camp just to produce the sound for the actual Forefront of the film that takes place at this house outside of [ __ ] dark it is [ __ ] dark and you really feel that um that ominous Vibe throughout the movie and it is quite sickening um and yeah I mean it's it's not an enjoyable film at all but it's a film that you know know you watch with respect for the time and um just the really the horror of of that time and it's sad uh after that I do have opener which I know may be a surprise to you I am surprised um because I I did not come out of the movie um really enjoying it it's the one I need to see again it's one I really need to watch again um I got the 4K bro whenever you're ready yeah I think it was one that I had I had a certain level of expectations for and it kind of it did not did not catch me at the right time I think um but with the of reception it's had and love I really want to give it a second chance I mean I do appreciate Nolan he's not my favorite I don't love the guy but I have enjoyed his work um for a long time now and considering San Murphy I do agree even on the first watch he was fantastic and basically the whole cast Robert dowy Jr incredible ear their Oscars in my opinion yeah so I I do want to give that another try um after that I have Barbie we don't have to talk too much about enjoyable movie very much after that I Spider-Man Across the Universe hell yeah spiderverse spider spiderverse sorry super fun movie I mean you I mean I'm not a huge Marvel guy I'm not a huge uh MCU person but I do watch the Spider-Man movies and in my opinion those are the two best Spider-Man movies ever made I agree so I mean they're just a ton of fun I think that anybody can enjoy them you don't have to be a Marvel or superhero fan to they're just good movies those up yeah they're just great really great stories great soundtracks a lot of fun um after that I have and this spot five 1 2 3 three four yeah after no this number six number six is I think this is longer than 10 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 N9 10 yeah actually I've been just listing movies here I didn't even do 10 that's hilarious so if we're doing 10 hold on 1 two 3 four five six seven8 nine 10 so Napoleon and boy and Heron would have been actually cut off of this would wouldn't have made the cut yeah okay um so with that being said one two 3 4 five number five no one two 3 four five we can count folks I promise we both can I'm counting the wrong way it should be 10 9 8 but uh number six is anatomy of a fall o yeah which um was a powerful movie I'll just say that it's another real slow burn um it's basically about this this wife whose husband dies the entire movie is an investigation to find out whether he killed himself or she killed him and the whole movie she's basically on trial and they have a son who um is a big part of the storyline and yeah I don't want to talk too much about it because the the general synopsis is basically the end whole movie and so if you really talk about it too much you you kind of start getting into spoiler territory but it's a great character study um for the for the main actress um she was actually the main actor in that or the main actress in that was also the main actress in Zone Of Interest so she had a big year last year oh wow good for her um yeah and she was fantastic in both films really really she really blew my mind um I wish I had her name right now so the main actress's name is Sandra huller um and again she is fantastic anatomy of fall great movie check it out and um yeah so again I guess the one thing to say that it's not a spoiler is that their son is blind oh okay so that plays a big part of the movie um as far as you know he obviously didn't see anything course but he's the one that's but he's the witness he's the he's the star witness of the case man that kind of sounds like aspects of Primal Fear aspects of 12 Angry Men kind of like in a way that sounds kind of cool honestly moving up from there is a movie I think we saw together American fiction which I'm surprised didn't make your list no I never saw American fiction you didn't see that with me who did I think I saw with Andrew then you might yeah cuz that that's that's one that I missed I did not see American fiction unfortunately I didn't because it was nominated for a bunch of stuff including Jeffrey Wright's uh performance at as uh what the main character yeah Jeffrey W is fantastic in that movie and also Sterling K Brown uh honestly Sterling K Brown is probably my favorite he was amazing did he win um no Robert Downey Junior win yeah yeah Sterling K Brown Jeffrey Wright um play two brothers and uh basically Jeffrey R's character monk is writing uh black literature you know very very heavy stuff and it's not selling well he's not really making money and and he's not getting the recognition he deserves so uh but the books that are blowing up are just like basically propaganda pieces so he basically goes under a um what is that like a like a pen name you know like not not his official name oh like an alias he writes under an alias and he writes basically the most racist book he can possibly think of really I did not know that was a premise essentially that's what it is he writes a book about a gangster living the hardcore hardboiled drug life on the streets you know talking in the craziest slang he can come up with and he it goes insanely popular the name of the book is literally [ __ ] like he he makes it as just hardc corely stupid and racist and obscene as possible and it becomes like the book of the year and it's him dealing with the repercussions of that decision and it's dude it's so good you should watch it's hilarious it's moving it made me cry I was about to ask to tone just to get a feel the tone for it it's it's a it's a drama but it's it's got some comedy in there um it's it honestly I would say it yeah dramedy for sure sounds like right at my alley you I think you'd love it bro it sounds right at my alley um after that is one of my favorite directors of all time uh West Anderson's asteroid City that just made that that's probably would be like 14 for me I love that movie I watched it two times already um and it's just so much fun it is it's a lot of fun it's hilarious I think it's so witty I think that that uh I mean I just love Wes Anderson he just has a sweet spot for me it's it's hard for me not to like anything he does you love his style I really do I love his style and that one is very it's just just funny man I love the kid the The Ensemble Kid cast they kind of got going there I mean I mean all those movies have just the most amazing casts lists and uh I really loved skylet Johansson she was great in it him and her and Ben schwarzman Schwartzman they were fantastic Le they were so great yeah yeah so that's a fantastic one um after that third I've got killers of the flower Moon which I still can't believe you haven't seen Jordan I blame it on the three and a half hour I know but BL blame it on the three and a half hour on I've seen it twice Jordan there's no excuse It's still I need to I know I need to see it but sayy was the the essence of our friendship you and you haven't watched it he's guil Tri you hurt my feelings he saved that line specifically for this for for for this podcast and you know what it's working it's it's it's it's working now killers of the flower moon is a difficult film because it's again not a movie like zon of interest it's not one you're really going to enjoy all that much so I never I don't think I've ever told you the reason the I use the three and a half hour thing as an but the main reason why is because I really did not like silence like I respect silence I I I'm so I would say this is not as far into the passion project era of it's not cuz that's the vibe I got from it and I was like it's it's a good healthy mix cuz it is a gangster film which the trailers are fantastic it's a gangster film but it is also a bit of the more of a passion project for him as far as like he wants to really talk about what happened here it's very very close to scor's Heart the uh you know what went down in this story which we don't to talk about for spoilers if you haven't seen it still relatively new film it's amazing 10 out of 10 guys um if you like Scorsese if you like Good Fellas if you like Raging Bull this is a movie you have to see also flopped and I didn't even see and that makes me sad I don't I don't like when Martin's Crusades and movies flop so that Mak sad I mean yeah for sure it shouldn't have but it's it's just that the kind of time we live in mad you know yeah and it it's Apple TV I think it was just like Napoleon and um I don't know I feel like it was marketed pretty well yeah the trailers were fantastic yeah the trailers are fantastic I saw the trailers a lot before the movie and uh and that movie has I mean Emma Stone in uh in poor things is my favorite of the year but literally time with Emma Stone is Lily Gladstone ly Gladstone everybody says she's almost just as good as Emma Stone she best part for Killers yeah I me she plays Leo Leo's wife um and she brought such a fresh performance to the table and it was really captivating and just it hits you in the fs it hits you in the fs and two and one were both on your list so I got hold the holdovers at two we think we said enough about that movie I love it and then um at one we got poor things which isable movie um last year I I kind of already want to watch it again it's just so hilarious it's got a great message great themes and uh again the best performance from Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo just a mustat all around top tier yeah from riding Pace acting everything is lanros I lanr I think you got no I think you got that yeah he uh you know he has grown on me so much from uh watching killing of the s deer back in the day and kind of hating it to uh wanting to rewatch it h i I didn't like and I I have two extreme I have killers of of the Sacred deer and I have poor things I haven't seen the favorite I haven't seen the lobster so like I need the only two you've seen the only and very much so and like I really did not enjoy one of them and I [ __ ] just stupidly adored another one so yeah I think I think backtracking I think you'll love I think you'll like the favorite maybe not as much as poor things but the favorite is in the direction of poor things as far as uh his style but uh yeah I mean he he's definitely grown on on me and on the I think just the movie scene in general and then he he quickly released another one this year kinds of kindness which I really want to see it just wasn't playing locally by us unfortunately um but that'll definitely be when you'll see a review for soon on the website guys oh yeah well yeah well and I as soon as it gets to streaming I plan on watching it that's one of the
