Yes. Um, and our Alyssa Curtis has been keeping track of everything going on across New Orleans. She's been all over the place today. Yes. And apparently there's a car flooded out. Alyssa at Carrollton and Olive in Gtown. I'm honestly just going to move out the way so you can, we can go straight to show you exactly what's going on here. This is south and street. I'm not exactly sure if these cars were driving or if they were already parked here, but you can tell especially that grayish brown car that is going to do some damage. That car is flooded. The rain has absolutely picked up in the last 20 minutes or so. I actually put an update on my Instagram and I was like, the rain isn't that bad? It picks up. Nope, that has completely changed in the last 20 minutes and you guys can probably hear it. The rain is actually hitting sideways and the wind is picking up too, have some extra layers on because it was getting pretty breezy and we're getting some wind gusts. Every, I would say like a minute or two, we're getting some heavy gusts and I'm not sure exactly if you guys can see it, but you might be able to see it where that water on the ground is. The water is just moving so quickly on the ground. Because of this wind. We were driving around about 30 minutes ago and it was, I would say localized street flooding that likely has picked up because of just what I've experienced in the last 20 minutes. This rain is really coming down hard. The wind is really pushing it too. Again, it's coming in sideways and it feels like it's pelting me on my leg. So that can kind of give you an example in the image of just how hard the rain is coming down. And again, I'm sure that wind is just adding that extra layer. I do want to say a lot of people are still driving around the city of New Orleans, please, please, please. By this point, you should be in your homes, sheltering in place um through the rest of the night. Um There really should be no one driving on the roads. Um Not only are people driving around, they're driving really fast through these flooded areas. Um We don't want your car to stall out for you to get stuck or stranded. Um Again, we've heard all, all afternoon yesterday and today um some or emergency responses may be limited or take a little bit longer just because of these conditions. So we don't want you out on the streets. I will say, um, we are close to a gas station, should we need to take shelter? So we are doing ok out here and my photographer is under the, the trunk of the car. So she's trying to take a little bit of shelter as she's manning the camera behind behind me right here. But again, we don't want you guys out on the streets. I've seen a few people actually pull up to the gas station and do like a beer run. I get it. I do. This is hurricane. A lot of you guys kind of as you say, hunker down in your homes and you like to have a beer too and I get it, but please don't go out and risk your lives to go anywhere right now. I also want to say I've seen a few people not only driving around but walking around in their neighborhood, maybe just checking on some of the conditions. Don't do that, just turn on your TV or just watch us. We're bringing it to you live. You don't need to be walking out, walking around outside. Um, college kids. I feel like you might be interested in what's going on because some of you may have never been through this before. Stay in, inside, in your dorm, in your, in your house. You do not want to be out in these conditions. This wind and this rain are, they're really picking up right now. Again. Um I would say about 30 40 minutes ago. Now we were driving, we saw some localized street flooding that has probably picked up. It looks like the area that we're in right now. I'm going to see if my photographer Robin can pan to the left a little bit. This sidewalk area was not as bad as it is right now, about 1015 minutes ago. So the flooding is increasing and I definitely feel these wind gusts definitely coming in hard right now. I did also see some power lines down. I'm not sure if those had been down or if they came down in the last hour or two, but I did see a few down power lines. Um, I also have seen just a few not huge branches of trees but definitely some debris from trees down on the roads. Another reason why we don't want you guys outside again. Things are just really picking up around here again at South Carrollton and all street. You can definitely see, um, this car underwater. Just some reasons that we don't want you guys out here. Um, it just seems like things, well, things are picking up and have been picking up in the last 20 or so minutes that I've been out here, so stay inside, um, and stay inside until the morning until they start to taper down and so you guys can be as safe as possible. Alyssa, are you seeing any other streets? That are flooded this badly because that looks really high where you are. Yeah, I will say when we were driving around in the car, car in uptown neighborhood, we checked on some streets that we know flood often, especially when we don't, we don't even have these hurricanes and we just have some storms. State Street usually floods off of south near Academy and we went over there and we checked and surprisingly, it was not flooded. I've been over there, some of the residents who live over there, maybe familiar, I've been over there a few times that was not flooded. So we see some localized flooding, not as much as I had thought we were going to see, but definitely now I think it's starting to pick up. So I'm sure as we get in the car and start driving around in the next 5, 10 minutes will likely see some more than we did before. But yeah, this area right now, this corner at South carton and all is really bad. Alissa. Are you feeling those really strong wind gusts? Obviously, the rain is coming down hard at this point. How about the wind? Yeah. Um, definitely the wind, the wind was actually, um, kind of harder than the rain for a minute. Um It's pretty steady of a wind but every so often I'll feel wind gusts right before you guys talks to me. I was standing here and it kind of shook me a little bit. These wind gusts are very, very strong. So yes, I'm definitely feeling those as you go survey the situation in other parts of the city. Please be careful as you're driving around out there. Take extreme caution. These are not conditions that you want to mess with. We appreciate it.
