amen the Lord be with you and with your spirit Jacob and Candy the church shares your joy and warmly welcomes you together with your family and friends as today in the presence of God our Father you established between yourselves a lifelong partnership may the Lord hear you on this your joyful day may he send you help from heaven and protect you may he grant you your heart's desires and fulfill every one of your prayers glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace to people of Good Will We Praise You we bless you we adore you we glorify you we give you thanks for your great glory Lord God Heavenly King oh God Almighty father Lord Jesus Christ only begotten son Lord God Lamb of God Son of the father you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us you take away the sins of the world receive our prayer you are seated at the right hand of of the father have mercy on us for you alone are the Holy One you alone are the Lord you alone are the most high Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the father let us pray oh God who since the beginning of the world have blessed the increase of Offspring show favor to our supplications and pour forth the help of your blessing on these your servants so that in the union of marriage they may be bound together in mutual affection in likeness of mind and in shared Holiness through our Lord Jesus Christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit God forever and ever please be seated bridal party you can take your seats and I invite the first reader to please come forward a reading from we doing are you nervous still or no good all right it's it's all downhill from here I promise okay procession was the hardest part I know you're you're worried about the dance at the at the reception but that's all right um so it's a joyous day that we come here together to celebrate the union of the matrimony of Jacob and Candy whereby they will be establishing their home and their family together the first reading we hear in Genesis God says that it's not good for man to be alone so he made a suitable partner the the word in Hebrew for spouse means helpmate god makes a helpmate for Adam Eve is much more than just a friend or someone with whom Adam can talk Eve is this perfect helpmate to help Adam to do the will of God now of course in the beginning they mess up we have original sin they fall Adam and Eve uh become prey to the Ws of the devil and so we recognize from that first moment that though the world changed though creation changed forever marriage remained marriage is the only institution from creation that Still Remains it survived through the flood where God said let's start over again it survived throughout the Old Testament throughout the Israelites Disobedience to God and into the New Testament what was Jesus's first miracle does anybody know water and wine right but more importantly where would where would where did that take place at a wedding right everybody thinks oh Jesus is this kind of like you know frumpy sad you know he's telling everybody what they can and can't do um but it's important that we see that his very first miracle took place at a wedding I think that this is so important because it highlights the importance of matrimony it highlights the uh principality of matrimony it highlights this great importance that Society is built on man and woman coming together for the love of one another but also for the procreation and education of their youth and so marriage is this beautiful institution in which we recognize that God gives us an example he gives us an example of how to love the second reading um St Paul to the Corinthians um St Paul speaks a great deal about love here and he says if I have let's see seeoo if I don't have love I'm nothing more than a clanging gong or a CL clinging Bell or clashing gong right love is one of those words that we throw throw around very lightly today we talk about things that we love we say we love lamp right if we're going to go with Anchor Man um I say from time to time that I love Chick-fil-A that's not true though I don't like actually love Chick-fil-A love is an act of the will it's so much more than emotion often times we think of love and we say well it's just those good feelings that I get inside you know and it's you know I I I love somebody no love is so much more than just an emotion you're getting married today but if you ask any married couple who's been married for longer than a day or longer than a week or longer than a month or if you look to your parents your grandparents these examples of faithful matrimony that has endured throughout the years you'll recognize that love isn't always easy love is a sacrifice we didn't have it in the readings here um but I like to often quote St Paul to the Ephesians and his reading that sometimes people get a little upset about it but I'm going to I'm going to talk about it anyway it's when Jesus says let's see let me find it where I had it here um I'm lost anyway it's where Jesus says wives be obedient to your husbands right and everybody bristles at that part I don't I don't like that but then what does he say to husbands next he says husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church well how did Christ love the church he died he died on a cross and so marriage is this opportunity in which as the couple comes together the two Wills become one where you are united Jacob and Candy you have to set aside your own desires your own Wills your own passions and you have to recognize what is God calling you to God is calling you to Holiness God is giving you this gift this Sacrament right at kaaa Jesus didn't just turn the water into wine to say like here we go let's party but rather he highlighted the importance of marriage making it a Sacrament a Sacrament is an outward sign of an inward Grace right and so marriage isn't just some institution it's not just some piece of paper I already signed the piece of paper by the way U because it's not just some piece of paper it'll it'll you know all the legal stuff and get you a discount on your honeymoon probably but but marriage is so much more than just an institution or piece of paper it's a covenant right God made covenants with man God made covenants with those who he created God made covenants with those whom he loved God made covenants with those who disobeyed him who betrayed him and the new and eternal Covenant which Jesus Christ made on the cross and when I say Eternal I mean Eternal not like until the end of the world but forever outside of time Jesus made this new and eternal Covenant this new and Everlasting Covenant so that we may recognize the love that he has for us we may recognize the love that he gave his life for us and in return he calls us to be obedient to him to strive to do his will we live in a time in a world where it's really easy to want to do our own will where we want to do our own thing where we kind of can look around and you know we can kind of get whatever we want we can get on an airplane and within you know 18 hours is wherever we want in the world we can go on Amazon and uh you know by 7:00 the next morning whatever you want is at your doorstep we live in this world of instant gratification I want a good marriage okay that's going to take work right I want a good marriage that's going to take communication I want a good marriage that's going to take some compromise that's going to take exchange that's not just for Jacob and Candy of course that's for all of you married couples that you recognize as husband and wife you strive to sacrifice for the sake of one another and marriage is this perfect image of the love that Christ has for his church and so with every Sacrament right I said there's kind of an external sign the external sign is you you show the world the love that Christ has for us through your own self-sacrificial love not not a love that is self- serving not a love that is um only one-sided but a sacrificial love one of my friends moms used to tell us in seminary the best way to keep a marriage together is not to get divorced just take that word out of the vocabulary altogether say no we're going to sacrifice we're going to love one another we're going to strive to be holy Jacob it's your job to get candy to heaven and Candy it's your job to get Jacob to heaven you have kids they'll come along you know and they'll they'll they'll test you and they'll try you you know and yeah they'll probably kind of be opportunities for you to grow in Holiness as well but that's not your main concern it's not your kids that get you to heaven they might make it easier but it's not your kids's job to get you to heaven it's your job to get each other to heaven and your kids see that your kids will witness that they will see the love that you have for one another they will see that self-sacrificial love teaching them not to be selfish teaching them to serve others teaching them to lay down their lives for the sake of their friends Jesus says I no longer call you slaves but friends you are my friends if you do what I command you and I've laid down my life for you that's a big task to lay down one's life to set it aside to say God I want to do your will Jesus tells us in the gospel as the father loves me so I also love you remain in my love remain in my love it's easy for us from time to time to get distracted and to get discouraged and to think ah I I'm just I'm too far gone God doesn't God doesn't care I messed up too much but yet we recognize that his love for us is this infinite love that we cannot comprehend we cannot fathom the love that God has for us and so candy and Jacob it's your responsibility after you're married to show the love of God to one another marriage isn't always easy right married couples marriage easy is that F matrimonio no no okay yeah that's see no yeah oh no yeah pada graas seora yeah if it were easy everybody would do it and you know the world would be this great place something that transcends culture and language but we recognize that God gives the grace that we need you serve as an important part of Christ's Church as members of his body to help those around us to know his love for us and so I challenge you that when marriage perhaps becomes difficult when there are disagreements when there are arguments when there are you know little squabbles and whatnot that you always remember that remain in the love of the father as the father has loved me so I love you think of that your own minds as God the father has loved Jacob as God the father has loved Candi so candy and Jacob love each other you'll have arguments you'll have discussions don't go to bed angry always reconcile always recognize that God is bigger than just the two of you that God can do marvelous things that through you God will work in this world to lead others to grow in Holiness to lead others to recognize that love that he has for us so as we celebrate this joyous day as we continue with this uh sacrament of matrimony it's my prayer for you Jacob and candy that God may continue to pour his love into you you may always love one another with the love of the father okay opport re grand grand compass for excellente [Music] paoo San benedicto San Francis papa papa uh benedicto Papa Francisco um [Music] you know it's see yeah Jacob Jacob and Candy I invite you to stand and the bridal party please to come forward dearly beloved you have come together into the house of the church so that in the presence of the church's minister in the community your intention to enter into marriage may be strengthened by the Lord with a sacred seal Christ abundantly blesses the love that binds you through a special Sacrament he enriches and strengthens those he has already consecrated by holy baptism that they may be faithful to each other forever and assume all the responsibilities of married life and so in the presid of the church I ask you to State your intentions Jacob and candy have you come here to enter into marriage without coercion freely and wholeheartedly yes are you prepared as You Follow the path of marriage to love and honor each other for as long as you both shall live yes are you prepared to accept children lovingly from God and to bring them up according to the law of Christ and his church yes since it is your intention to enter the Covenant of holy matrimony join your right hands declare your consent before God and his church Jacob repeat after me look at her though I Jacob I Jacob take you candy take you candy to be my wife to be my wife I promise to be faithful to you I promise to be faithful to you in good times and in bad in good times and in God has been pleased to Crown and consecrate the love of our sister candy and our brother Jacob let us commend them to the Lord that these faithful Christians Jacob and Candy newly joined in holy matrimony may always enjoy health and wellbeing let us pray to the Lord Lord our pray matrimonial let us pray to the Lord Lord here our pray that they be granted perfect love perfect and fruitful love peace and strength and that they bear faithful witness to the name of Christian let us pray to the Lord Lord Lord here our pray that the grace of the sacrament will be renewed by the Holy Spirit and all married persons here present let us pray to the Lord Lord our pray graciously pour out upon this husband and wife oh Lord the spirit of your love to make them one heart and one Soul so that nothing Whatever May divide those you have joined and no harm come to those you have filled with your blessing we ask this through Christ Our Lord amen you may be seated say put in Cent [Music] Jesus Mysteries they may be strengthened in love for one another and for for you through Christ Our Lord amen the Lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts lift them up to the Lord let us give thanks to the Lord Our God it is right and just it is truly right and just our duty and our Salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks Lord Holy Father Almighty and eternal God for you will that the human race created by the gift of your goodness should be raised to such high dignity that in the union of husband and wife you might bestow a true IM of your love for those you created out of Charity you call to the law of Charity without ceasing and Grant them a share in your Eternal charity and so the sacrament of holy matrimony as the abiding sign of your own love consecrates the gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you [Applause] in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the Chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal Covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the Forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith we Proclaim your death oh Lord and pro your [Music] Resurrection until you come again therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and Resurrection we offer you Lord the bread of life and the Chalice of Salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit remember Lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of Charity together with Francis our Pope and Gregory John our Bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God with blessed Joseph her spouse with the Blessed Apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may Merit to be coars to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son Jesus Christ through him and with him and in in him oh God Almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever amen amen [Music] at the savior's command and sisters God's blessing upon this bride and groom that in his kindness he may favor with his help those on whom he has bestowed the sacrament of matrimony Holy Father maker of the whole world who created man and woman in your own image and will that their Union be crowned with your blessing we humbly beseech you for these servants who are joined today in the sacrament of matrimony may your abundant blessing Lord come down upon this bride candy and upon Jacob her companion for life and may the power of your Holy Spirit set their hearts a flame from on high so that living out together the gift of matrimony they may Adorn their family with children and enrich the church in happiness may they praise you oh Lord in sorrow may they seek you out May they have the joy of your presence to assist them in their Toil and know that you are near to comfort them in their need let them pray to you and the holy assembly and bear witness to you in the world and after a happy old AG together with the circle of friends that surrounds them may they come to the kingdom of heaven through Christ Our Lord the Peace of the Lord be with you always and with your spirit [Music] for peace on your
