there needs to be a resolution between the San Francisco 49ers and their two stars who are seeking new contracts wide receiver Brandon aak and left tackle Trent Williams aak has had the far more high-profile contractual standoff with the Niners one in which trade requests and rumors circulated for weeks but no trade and no new contract materialized leaving IX future in a state of limbo despite still being under contract through 2024 Williams meanwhile has flown under the radar a bit despite being arguably more important to San Francisco's success while a potential aak absence SL trade could damage the 49ers depth chart Head Coach K Shanahan has plenty of other offensive weapons at his disposal including running back Christian mcaffrey and fellow wide out Debo Samuel the drop from Williams to his backup Jaylen Moore is significantly bigger with only one more week remaining in the preseason and the days counting down before the ners open up their regular season against the New York Jets on September 9th it had be reasonable to assume some sort of agreement is reached with both aak and Williams not yet though and what Shanahan just told reporters is a bit deflating speaking to reporters on Tuesday Shanahan didn't exactly offer a promising update regarding the two players when asked whether or not any progress had been achieved Shanahan bluntly responded with zero updates nothing has changed not exactly the news fan want to hear aak has been physically present for training camp and has attended San Francisco's preseason games despite not playing thereby avoiding significant fines while awaiting his inevitable fate Williams meanwhile has remained away from the team during his hold out incurring fines equivalent to one week's pay for the two preseason games he's already missed it's a bit of a financial gamble to do so but considering Williams is arguably the best offensive tack in the NFL and recently held the title of highest paid lineman in league history it's a gamble he feels is worth the risk if there is a positive resolutions in such situations can happen quickly a standoff between player and front office often gets resolved in a quick turnaround the back-end discussions rarely making headlines those are likely going on right now between the 49ers ax camp and Williams Camp even though Shanahan has indicated their aren't any developments still the longer this plays out the bigger the chance of regular season setbacks at both spots on the roster and no one in Niners circles wants to see that Deshawn Jackson has message for 49ers fans about Trent Williams it has been slow goinging for the San Francisco 49ers as far as any progress on the contract disputes of wide receiver Brandon aak and left tackle Trent Williams while aak has has been demanding a lucrative contract extension Williams who has 3 years left on his current deal wants his contract to be restructured presumably so that he will receive some guaranteed money on Fox Sports One speak Deshawn Jackson said he just talked to Williams and that Williams is working out and will be there once the real games begin next month Williams who is widely considered the NFL's best left tackle and one of the best overall players in football has been holding out of training camp as a result of his contract situation he is the Cornerstone of a 49ers offensive line that is lacking elsewhere and he has made the Pro Bowl in each of his last 11 Seasons he missed all of 2019 due to surgery and has been named to the allpro first team in each of the last three years least somewhat makes sense as the team would know at that point what its financials will look like but if both situations work out in the 49ers favor they should be the favorites to win the NFC again their preseason win over the New Orleans Saints a less heralded rookie stood out wide receiver Jacob coing veterans on the team were impressed with the fourth round pick from the 2024 NFL draft according to beat Rider Jennifer leechon coing had four catches for 51 yards and provided a couple of highlights first was this 38- yd contested reception off a pass from backup quarterback Joshua dos banged up over the last few years but if his Medicals check out that would give the club a former first team allpro to turn to a left tackle in case of an emergency plus it could help that the San
