Chartrand and like uh Minister Campbell had said meal Care Pharmacy there's probably not anyone in the world that cares more about the Red River matey citizens and uh their Destiny and their future and their past than president Chartrand he has done a lot of things he's always traveling and it's always grateful to have him with us making time in his busy schedule to attend our openings and uh just speak with those that need it so welcome was a pretty awkward setup put it ahead there you go yeah good thank you thank you for the kind words PJ again uh Elder beus thank you for your prayer and your message uh to help those that can help themselves help the poor help the sick help those that are struggling it's always wise when our elders tell us not to forget those sometimes we walk by or forget to think about them in our busy schedules but again uh to all the elders what kind of city are you running here anyways uh you get that guy get his plate he probably only got a four cylinder in there anyways let me start off again thank you to the vice president uh for hosting this event today and it's great to see Fran the work that they've been able to lay out in this beautiful city and of course of course this entire region uh Richard of course being here is great to see him here and of course Peter Fleming uh our other executive member of this region it's also good to see the president of ma here Dave gray Dave nice to have you here Susie I think is somewhere in the crowd Susie it's good to see you here from the Friendship Center I think she's there somewhere where uh she has gray hair I used to have brown hair and I used to knowwhere a long time ago but I haven't seen her in a long time but it's good to see I think uh all of our people uh coming out to support this event now this didn't just happen overnight uh these are long-term discussions we have in cabinet these are matters where we find ourselves trying to plan the future and you know when you talk about what is the biggest challenge as country faces Healthcare it is the biggest biggest challenges from jobs educ ation all the rest of things of course are priorities but Healthcare is a big fundamental one that every Province and the federal government of this country are struggling with how do you deal with it the costs are rising the challenges are getting greater and people can't afford medicine it's getting to that point in fact when we did a study I'm talking quite a number of years ago the number one uh cause of early death of our citizens we are dying faster than anybody else the number one cause out of 72,000 surveys we did was our people were dying faster because they couldn't afford their medicine our elders are always good at paying bills they're always on top of their bills my mom never forgot our water bill forgotten this bill to always make sure a bill was paid same thing most of our elders across our Province across the north the west where people live our people our elders always want to make sure they take care of the bills so when they get one ambulance bill and any pensioner out there whether it's meal or non-meal can can can test to this when they get an ambulance bill if they got to go to to the to the hospital whether your Ukrainian what your M we're your first nation and if you can't pay for that bill you're in trouble so you start paying your ambulance bill first then you find out now after you pay your rent after you pay your food after you pay you can't afford your medicine so Elders would put it off next month I'll pay next month I'll I'll get it and not realizing they're doing a lot of damage in their internal organs and we saw that they were dying faster than everybody else that's scary very scary so we said to ourselves well we can scream and yell and cry like we've been drawing for so long to get this country to recognize matey Healthcare or we can do something about it I said let's build a pharmacy if we're the highest chronic illness users of me of prescriptions that means we're using a pharmacy more than anybody else so we can convince our people and the friends of our people to come and join us and help us and put a prescript a pharmacy in place where we can provide medicine we can make a difference and that difference came so now we provide free free medicine to Citizens 55 and over and we're looking at and right now we're negotiating with Canada a new change that's coming that's supposed to start happening this fall uh Health legislation for a me the first ever in Canada that discussion is going to start to happen and negotiations will take place but we started with a 55 uh uh age group uh because we know there the ones at the hardest time a lot of them are retired a lot of them are not working anymore and we said well let's give them free medicine so we take our profits in fact the Federation doesn't touch any profits from our Pharmacy it all goes back to our citizens and uh so when we look at uh the need for Walkers the need for even adjustments to their house bathrooms just to get their wheelchair to fix to be flexible to fit fit in their house all those things cost money and a lot of these people don't have the money to pull out of their pocket to pay for that bill so we take the profits from our Pharmacy and spend it back to our people and it's working well and we not stopping it's justes clinics are coming next foot clinics there'll probably be one here soon and the third Pharmacy is going to be in selker uh we're almost finished our apartment block a beautiful apartment block I'm sure many you saw it you'd want to move there uh and leave off and I think the mayor would not be happy with that he lose his tax base but if if you looked at a beautiful apartment you would be quite impressed and in the bottom of that uh Pharmacy will be included in that apartment now so that's going to be underway and the Tim will find us another recruit like you found Susie and the rest of the group I think Susie came from Swan River and welcome on board and Wendy and the rest of the crew Welcome to our government welcome to your Pharmacy that you'll be running and they will serve you with a smile that's one of the priorities I have in my government is you always make sure you serve your your customers with the best you have because I always tell my our staff your staff you have about 1300 now remember I started with three staff in 1997 now I got three 1300 staff but I always remind every one of them from the Jan to the executive directors the all the senior positions we have never forget what you're here for you provide service for our people you here to make sure that they can talk to you and don't you put that damn handing machine on over and over and over like I was on the phone the other day again with uh CIBC press this button press that button then they put you on hold and they talk to machine what do you want you know now you're talking to a machine hoping the hell he can understand what you're saying good enough I have a bad accent it makes it even harder for me but when you look at it that's not what I want to see in our people I want to make sure there Services suie make sure if we have to hire extra people when people F they're going to talk to somebody not a machine so that's the same policy we have in the South we'll have the same policy here in the central so again I want to say again with great pride uh this Vision this dream has become reality and thank God I got a good cabinet and uh they support my vision where I want to take us that used to be a funeral home I believe right there is am I correct I had the creeps going in there the other day I'm a chicken I'll be honest so by the way we also now bought Rapid City Memorial uh MMF just purchased that that'll be coming up uh so the all the headstones you get they used to be delivered uh we own that now we just bought it we just finalized the papers so next we're looking at a funeral not here I'm sorry toin I'm not coming here we're looking somewhere else for a funeral right now funeral home but and then well not that we're talking about farmacy I'm talking about death right after I'm just talking about Investments I'm talking about Investments and and we I'm trying to do a holistic approach in our government of trying to get our people services in all sectors of of their needs so this particular one we know will be a great winner I hope that the First Nations will come out and support it I hope the the ukrainians and the citizens of dolin will come here and support it I'm not here to go try to compete or beat the other Pharmacy that's here but it's good to have competition and and I'll do my best to have the best damn Pharmacy we have and making sure we have the best Serv in fact when we Pharmacy I was competing listen to this a little tiny matey Pharmacy I had the Detention of Shoppers Drug Mark Rex all those companies were we got their attention one little Pharmacy and I'll tell you why we got their attention because if you look at the amount of indigenous I'm using indigenous one example the indigenous prescriptions in this country is in the billions not the millions billions so when we open our farmacy in winipeg holy man got attention even in Dolphin here we didn't even come here yet a lot of our citizens were being called by the pharmacy which you're not supposed to do Susie you don't call and sell yourself to anybody you're not allowed to do that in the pharmace pharmaceutical business so a pharmacist not supposed to phone you and say come on stay with me I'll give you a better deal you're not supposed to do that anyways you're supposed to provide good services and the nature naturally come to the services but here we know we didn't even come here yet and the this Pharmacy was phing some of our citizens saying we understand MMF is going to the pharmacies don't leave us stay with us we give you we'll give you a good service so it is very crucial to see that one Pharmacy in the South scared the hell out of this province already now the second one's here the third's coming Brandon will be coming next and I'm going west with phes after that so so as I said this is an opportunity for us to make a difference profits made here we go back to our people we'll continue to provide the best Services we can additional uh uh supports you need when you deal with Healthcare and again uh I want to thank uh I think staff your friend you got their staff Liz Dawson Max and uh uh what shanon yeah thank you for your hard work in organizing all this last time I came here I was grouchy and I shouldn't have been and there was a bunch of staff there and I hope you don't lock your door every time I come here but anyways you have to press a button to get inside here I said you hope you're not locking your door anyways uh there's a bunch of staff there all friendly smiling yeah I was just grouchy and walking up to the vice president's office and I was tired coming in and I felt bad about it so I want to make sure that I always thank the staff CU they're the ones that make things better for all of us so again thank you again for all coming out uh the pharmacy will be there to provide all the best service they can and as I said no matter where we deliver right to Ottawa we deliver a Church Hill we deliver anywhere you want if you have family friends out there tell them to come to our Pharmacy I don't care where you are we'll serve to you and as Anita said we give our our medication ahead of time so if you're a regular customer we try to get a your prescription to you a week before to Tim if not that's my policy you just heard me say so a week before we try to get it out to your house so you make sure you never run out of medicine so again thank you very much for coming to support a dream that's becoming reality and it's going to get bigger thank you very much did you like pictures are we going to make him open it I know uh president likes to open pictures oh it's a banker's box well I just saw the back it's a banker's box what in that world it's for his uh new place as most of you know Francis is my sister my younger sister and I know my mom punished us but anyways so this is what she gives me is my gift how how do people make a true life without a sister don't want to break it here you don't want to break it all right so now the the moment that uh we're all here to witness is the ribbon cutting so vice president chran can I get you to come up uh president chran our pharmacist Minister Janai okay like if I could have um the Elder up feates for the closing prayer I guess I'm the MC Audio Visual guy as well here put it down low four feet four feet fouret yes we want to thank thank the Lord today for this beautiful day for all these beautiful people and we ask the Lord to take us all home safely and we thank ask the Lord to thank to bless the people that are working so hard for all of us and we pray that everything comes out 50% more we ask this in Jesus name amen Don't Run Away uh thank you uh Elder breelan and I we have a small token of our appreciation here for you for joining us today so you can think of us and the warmth of your nation being with you as you cover up and and gain I've been cold the last couple of nights and I was thinking I need my winter blanket thank you well there you go you can think of all of us giving you a big warm hug thank you all right uh let's get to work pharmacist open this door and let's uh let's see what you got thank you again everyone for coming coming and uh please join us for a tour of the pharmacy and and the building
