away from the Eagles and Packers playing in the NFL's first ever game from Brazil Philadelphia got off to an excellent start last year the start important going 10 and one in their first 11 games Jaylen Herz ranked sixth in the league in total qbr but then it all fell apart Herz and the Eagles went one and five in their final six regular season games lost the division and then lost to the Bucks 32 to9 in the Wild Card round in Tampa Philly will be the first team to face Green Bay's new defensive coordinator Jeff Halley and head coach Nick serani about that challenge moments ago you have to uh you have to try to dig as much as you possibly can um also knowing that week one there's a lot of unknowns that are going to happen throughout the league right even with people with with defensive coordinators that have been there for the year we we'll have to be ready for for anything but you know without giving up uh secrets of what we've done uh you know we've looked at a bunch of stuff as well um but also knowing that everything's alive yeah uh by the way Hawk's with us now thank you for joining us hey Hawk good to see you best skin routine in telev I know he's just yeah I I need Hawk skin uh all right there isn't any tap Dan that's true of hle as a defensive coordinator in the NFL in the regular season but what do you expect to see from Green Bay on Friday pressure uh and Jeff Halley's DNA kind of where he's cut his teeth it was in San Francisco it was in Houston it was at Ohio State obviously Boston College I mean he wants to play Man coverage and he wants to Blitz you and that's kind of contrary to what Green Bay has been defensively many of us have complained about that and so this boats well for Green Bay cuz Philadelphia the the number one thing that was the issue last year specific to their pass game was they could not handle pressure allout pressure man pressure fire zone pressure any form of pressure that forced that offense to have a plan and then execute against what they were going to do versus blitzes they struggled with so I think halfly for me like this a big foreshadowing game for Philly and and for Jaylen Herz and I'm not saying it has to be perfect but I do think they got to answer and Jaylen specifically has to answer I understand we weren't good at this I wasn't good at this I fixed it and at least having signs that there's growth in that specific area they will get the show that Friday night yeah I mean Hawk Friday is the first time we get to see Jaylen Herz with Kell Moore as the offensive coordinator how can Kell Moore get the most out of Herz in this offense consistency in his game plan like everything Dan talked about is exactly spot on and for Jaylen Herz or any player you go into a game and your apprehension or nerves coming not being prepared they didn't feel confident that they had a game plan last year that had the answers to the test when people sent pressure so for Kell Moore those are some of the questions that I have around him what is his consistency like in his game plan and his strategy that helps fill in the gaps for Jaylen herdz in this offense we know that you can dial up plays for the most talented offens in the NFL which is what the Eagles are they have no deficiencies at any position with your game plan and your consistency in the Run game can you hold on to games late in there and then as you go out there does it feel like you're executing a game plan rather than just calling plays like Dan and I talked about at na a year ago y'all we don't have 10 minutes but what Dan and Hawk just said it's what I was thinking about with the Philadelphia Eagles and when we sat here two years ago and talked about them on their way to the Super Bowl the thing that they did Dan remember is they dictated how defenses would play that I want to see that come back I want to see the RPO jayen being a threat with his legs not meaning he has to be a runner but we talked about I I I I I start thinking about the playoff game against San Francisco or one of the regular season games when it was the first time we saw Fred Warner and Dre green law play Slow football and not be able to impact the game with their speed like they were able to do I'm hoping that Kelly Moore understands now having Jaylen and saquin Barkley in the back field you can dictate a lot about how defenses are going to attack you and get back to kind of being able to use all of the things that he has at his disposal you brought up Halle in this defense he likes the pressure historically I play for guys that he knows and guys with his type of mentality you slow that pressure down by dictating what they can do with their linebackers and I think that's going to be the most interesting thing Friday when they face off in Brazil yeah it's interesting because defenses certainly knew what to do against him last season he had a 43 qbr against the Blitz in the Eagles final six regular season games last year that ranked 24th in the NFL look at that two hours starting atas Terell Suggs won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2003 then one Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 he's one of Just Three Edge rushers ever to win both Awards along with Nick Bosa and Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor the legendary Terrell sugs joining us now we look ahead to Thursday's opener a matchup of two teams you just so happen to win Super Bowls with that's pretty cool I we're so glad to have you here you've got a couple Super Bowl trophies behind you we noticed that you're part of a lot of great defenses Terell uh Baltimore had one last year but they went through so many changes this offseason what needs to happen for them to be a top unit in the league once again to be a top in the league man they one you definitely got to get out get after the passer you know it's a Passing League now so you know it it's time for you know those edges to kind of make make make their presence known you know last year they were talking about you know uh roquan and and uh Patrick Queen and you know all the DBS is now it's time I mean they they did good getting after I mean because they lost some pass rush so it's time for our young guys you know what I mean uh 99 n them to get going my brother sizzor it's so good to see you I knew he was going to start talking about pass rush first by the way it's of course last year last year AFC Championship I picked Baltimore to win it I thought they were the best team in the NFL and this lightning rod that always consistently revolves around Lamar you were in the Limelight when you were in Baltimore talk about the pressure of being the of a franchise in Baltimore but also what do you think it's going to take for these guys to get over the hump and him in particular well you know the pressure first and foremost because Baltimore that that's a straight Blue Collar city and if you don't play well you're gonna hear about it you're gonna hear about it throughout the week and you know it definitely affect us you know I mean um when when the Ravens are winning the crime in in the city goes down you know what I'm saying like it's crazy so it's like to be the face man you know I mean it's it's a tremendous honor but if you don't play well you're going to hear it so they got to continue to play well and as far as you know getting over the hump you know what I mean they we can't just rely on one or two players it's got to be a team everybody's got to be you know pot committed so to say everybody's got to be Super Bowl a bus you know what I mean it's like as we clearly learned teams change every year you know I mean you're not going to have the same team you had the year before you know so when it's your time to kind of when you're the best team you better punch your ticket because championships are G guaranteed you know the the days are long but the years are fast and you know your window of opportunity for winning the Super Bowl it it will rapidly close on you so all every man on that roster it can't just be you know MVP Jackson kind of you know trying to lead the team every body is kind of like all right put it on themselves to kind of get over the hump hey T sugs in 2011 when you won the defensive player of the year is there a game that stands out late that season were you secured that Defensive Player of the Year award um well any games against the black and black and yellow are pretty good you know what I mean um I think it was against game it was against me you had four sacks to end that season so I don't even like the the I mean I remember being like yo we just this guy had four sacks he just one defensive play to year and I I remember I promise we went into the game plan I was like yo are we doing anything for sug specifically they were like no we're just going to try and block him one-on-one great so this this was the one wow that didn't go well that's that's crazy I I that's crazy four sa I don't know man I don't know we was just getting after it you know what I'm saying and I didn't think I was going to win it I was really just trying to win the Super you know that's what we l up we every time we show up training camp it's like yo this is our year you know but every team thinks that you know what I'm saying I just so happen to have a big ear championship team what's up sizzor you wasn't doing a bar rushian a shade tree he was gonna be standing right there as soon as you came around their got anything on the resume I got there were a couple fumbles in there too let me move on to a real question now let me move on to a real question you know we got to play the complete game in Baltimore um real question you played against alltime greats Payton Manning Michael Vic Dynamic um obviously Tom Brady the greatest of all time played with both these guys specific to Patrick did you see in your time in Kansas City this level of greatness from Patrick Mahomes did you expect this yeah yeah the the the guy it the guy he loves football like when I got to Kansas City I I saw why the two teams clashed because we were the same locker room you know what I mean it was a bunch of guys who loved football and like P he was having so much fun playing football he like even lined up at on Scout teams sometime and just kind of just play you know what I mean like like I I I I saw the greatness I was like um when I first got there he was asking me um you know Matt J called me he said yo is he really like that and it's hard for me to give you my you know for me to give props you know especially to a quarterback and I was like yeah he's really like that like the guy just loved football man and like we were out there you know Chris Jones and myself and and Frank Frank Clark just guys who love to play football man and I can't forget five you know I mean Tyron mat the Honeybadger you know I mean on the back end you know he he had you know kind of a fire kind of just like a re them guys from Louisiana special man and like it it was very similar it was very similar like I get I get goosebumps like talking about it like the two teams are very similar man and it was just like I see why we
