youall held him to like 143 yards was this one of y'all's best defensive performances since You' been here um probably probably so yeah for sure but I feel like we just came out played hard we want to win line of scrimmage offense defense I feel like we did that today uh I feel like we have to continue to grow and get better we had a lot of mistakes out there as well just from us but we have to continue to grow but I feel like we came out played hard today and we had a good game for I know it's early but do you feel like this is could be the strongest defense you've had since you've been here and if so why would that be uh I feel like we're a good defense I feel like we just come in every day just trying to get better we don't get complacent in our work and we just come in want to grow every day and we play with each other and just build the chemistry and we want to go out there and win so yeah they picked up three first downs there on the first drive and then I don't think they picked up another one off game kind of what changed on third down for you guys um we just had to settle into the game we know um that was a long drive I want to say maybe 14 15 plays at first drive um that's something we try to stay a way of we want to get off the field third Downs um we just start playing hard you know we just locked in we just settled in we just settled in we just want to do that what about will taking that all the way back to the house huh shout out Brookie man shout out Brookie n it's amazing Brooks you know will he always doing his job doing everything right so it you know when you do everything right off the field it's going to come to you on the field and that's the type guy will is so I'm happy for will I'm yeah I can't wait to get on will for sure how will will very important to this defense he's a player who's been here he's been through college a minute he's a bet for us he knows the defense in and out and he just comes in every day willing to work and he's not selfish he's a team player everybody loves will so he's he's a big piece of our team you guys have as a defensive line a lot of expectations going into the season you feel like you kind of showed why everybody's kind of so high on you and you guys you guys are pretty good too uh like I said I feel like we had a lot of mental errors on our part a lot of mistakes that we did but uh I feel like we did come out hard and play hard today and we're on the line of scrimmage and we just want to play on the other side of line of scrimmage every game so we'll take it we'll look look at the film and try to do it next week you guys had 13 tackles for loss is that is there a number you guys are going for each week or is many no we just need them like honestly we don't really set a goal we just know that the way our defense works we playing on the other side of the line scrimmage we're going to bring pressure and we got to capitalize on those establish teams have been known for their lead offenses how important or valuable is it to be known rep Elite defense now too U I think it's valuable you know um we take pride in our offense being Elite every day we come in we want to go against the best offense and we push those guys they push us so that way it's easy for both of us when we get out here to these games and we able to push through and play hard and like I said they work us we work them so it's good to have a good Elite offense and defense do you think you're on the verge of being able to call this a nationally Elite defense um we got to continue to grow every day we got to continue to grow every day teams like even if you guys don't get home to the quarterback that you guys are getting more and more pass deflections at the line of scrimmage how much is that something you guys work on incise uh everything um that's little things like that we always working on getting our hands up screen just the small things that go into the dline play you know that's could be game changers in the game where you get out get a scen or get a hand on the ball so it's good to you know we work those things so when we get in the game it becomes a habit to throw your hand up get final quarterback the flick balls and things like that speak worked on have you worked on with uh with Omar Omar Norman lot on his dance celebration yeah Omar yeah I I I didn't see what dance he did I didn't see it but I'm sure he he be practicing in a locker room so he got to do a little better the 13 tackles what does that feel like continually stop what does that feel like oh it feel good it feel good to go out there and play with energy have fun playing with each other and I feel like that's the big thing if you go out there have fun playing energy we we we feel like we're a good team and we can go out there we can dominate what do you know about what can you say about Dominic Bailey he had the play tonight where he got the force fumble with the recovery on the sack too he's a guy doesn't get a lot of lot of publicity starts for you guys and plays lot of snap yeah Dom Dom is a guy who come in every day just wanted to be better he come in he leaves the room in different aspects he's always coaching up the ends talking to the tackles just everything we D been here we came in the same same year so me and D we have a great connection great relationship with each each other and um he he stayed down he put his head down he just worked ever since he been here now it's his time and he I feel like he just going to go continue to capitalize and grow off little
