Taylen Green Takes SEC By Storm

last weekend headline there on 247 new Arkansas quarterback ton green puts SEC on notice with the a historic debut under Bob patrino 10 drives versus Arkansas Pine Bluff and ton was responsible for seven of those and like every time I looked up there was another touchdown by our next guest who playing his first year at aans after coming over from Boise State Tay first of all congratulations uh great to have you with us your name is uh being mentioned a lot of places in Arkansas and around the college football World how are you I'm good thank you for having me uh you want a good debut and you had one uh take us back to Saturday and uh and and what went through your your mind and and the process that you that you developed to make it all happen uh I would say you know first I want to you know shout out uh all the hog fans out there you know they showed out and it was more than you know I imagine you know just seeing all that red whether it's it was the hog walk or you know the first kickoff uh it was very electric and you know uh you know with Coach patrino there we we just wanted to you know start fast and you know set you know U set the stage of you know we came here to play and we got you know we got dudes around us and we're just trying to make you know the state of Arkansas proud well I want to get back to that in a second but first uh I know you're from Texas you went to Boise take us through your your mindset in in terming in terms of hitting the portal and making the move to Arkansas and what influenced it what influenced that decision the most uh I would say you know first just talking to my parents and you know praying about it and uh talking to my close friends you know I decided to you know hit the transfer portal uh you know I loved my three years in Boise learned a lot you know not just you know about Boise but you know about myself and football and you know hit the transfer portal and you know of course you know came to Arkansas but you know this division that coach pit and Coach patrino had you know I fell in love with I fell in love with it and fell in love with the the city and the and the community and and yeah the the rest is you know history TN uh we all know Bobby patrino uh and you know better than I do the quarterbacks uh that he's developed we'll be watching one tomorrow night uh in the in the NFL opener with Lamar so what uh what does he tell us about him what's he like to work with especially with him calling the plays uh he's very very intense uh whether it's in the film room or you know of course you know out on the field uh you know he de he demands you know Excellence you know from the quarterback position and he you know demands me to be on my PS and q's every single day and you know having no excuse and you know that trickles down you know to the uh to the o line to the running backs to the receivers you know just to everybody you know just um having the mentality of you know we're going to score every single drive you know every single time the you know ball gets in our hands that you know the belief and you know the execution that we need and that we that we're going to have is is is U like you like you say you know 10 out of 10 and you know that's what we that's how we practice every single day and in in terms of your course coach Pitman uh the head coach is a legendary off defensive line coaches you know uh considered among the very best of of his era how does he play I mean he's the head coach of course but how does he play into the the overall preparation for you and what coach patrino do every day I would say just you know the communication you know that patrino what patrino has with me and what Coach P has with me like what they're thinking on you know different situations whether you know it's two minute whether it's you know 4 minute offense and you know just knowing the differ situation what they want me to do and and you know the communication that they have together you know I feel like you know those are you know two masterminds that you know the best like you said the best I believe in the country and you know speaking to coach Matas too um just those two in the o line uh room you know he's even coach he's the head coach you know Coach P the head coach but you know he's still you know out there you know coaching the old line and and just like I said the different communication that they have is is second to n listen uh first games are are there are a lot of lot of different things you can get out of them you can go against a top opponent and and it's pressurized or you have something like what you went through which I'm sure uh gets you prepared for what's ahead uh Saturday I know you can only take it one at a time but Saturday you're going to see a much better team let let's talk about that in terms of what you're going to get on the road yeah for sure I would say you know Oklahoma state is you know um really great team you know really disciplined and uh really really athletic you know jumps off jump out the film and you know um one thing we're really focused on is you know doing our job doing our uh 111 and you know letting the rest you know take care of itself you know we're just excited to you know be on the road um be the underdog you know L rank uh 16th in the country you know it's a great opportunity you know to you know show everybody you know what we have and you know um just uh just focus on what we have to focus on I I realize that you can't do anything about what's come before you TN but clearly Arkansas has struggled the last couple of years but in listening to your talk uh it I'm not trying to put words in your mouth but I feel like that that was another time that was a different that was a different regime uh how would you describe uh the level of excitement in that locker room right now as you guys get ready to make that trip to still waterer I would say it's extremely you know exciting you know this is one of the reasons why you come to the University of Arkansas is you know to play play on ABC playing the big games you know whether it's 11:00 whether it's 3:00 whether it's you know at night you know Coach P saying just roll the ball down and you know play ball and you know let the you know let our toughness you know mental and physical you know tough toughness you know U uh be present and you know that's what you know I'm I'm excited about just you know the opportunity to be uh you know ABC in prime time and uh with the with a great opponent yeah and the guy on the other side knows a little bit about the position as well at Oklahoma State just in terms of playing in a in a in a setting like that that's a very difficult place to win uh I know you you've played in these settings before uh during your three years at Boise H how do you prepare for something that's going to be totally different than what you went through the other night uh I would say just keeping the process the same you know preparing the the same um you know not really um pressing but you know being relaxed and and trusting my preparation I know uh our staff does a really good job of you know implementing crowd noise and you know the new um you know headpiece um uh listening to that and um our communication you know at the old line with the old line and with the running backs you know you know has to be you know top tier and you know I feel like we've U done a great job and you know still building on you know what we've done so I'm I'm excited uh to to show everybody everybody I spent some very cold days on in Arkansas but I'm sure that's nothing compared to what you went through in Boise how do you like the weather there I know that's a cliche question but it's got to be better doesn't it yeah yeah I love the weather you know back down south I'm from I'm from Texas so I love the southern weather Hey listen uh we really appreciate you coming by good luck we'll be watching the
