what is going on YouTube fascinating graveyard on this very beautiful day here in Oceanside California and today we're going to briefly visit the final resting place of Hollywood actress Karen Black who was born on July 1st 1939 in Park Ridge Illinois I believe that's the Chicago land area now I'm not going to lie I have never heard of Karen Black before until somebody suggested requested that I do this video and I went to look her up online and uh very very beautiful woman she was not saying that I would not have done the video if she were not beautiful but I'm not going to lie it kind of pushed me to do it can you call her Queen of the bee movies uh this woman was in about 200 different television shows and movies I think most people would probably best know her as playing an Easy Rider I think she played an LSD addicted prostitute right anybody see that movie I Didn't I don't watch movies um I'd rather be outside rolling in the grass but uh nonetheless very well-known actress from that originally she had gone to Northwestern University to study Theater Arts and uh just U there about 2 years so she was close to somewhat close to finishing the program until she discovered how hot she was and she says I'm going to blow this Berg now I'm pretty sure she didn't say it like that but she just got tired of I guess she didn't like how the teachers treated her and how they just kind of looked at you like you were a nobody something along those lines so she ended up moving to New York City and um you know would try out for different parts or what have you and to make uh you know ends meet over there uh she worked at a hotel as a front desk clerk she worked for an insurance uh company she was a secretary I don't know why she didn't try bartending uh I mean so attractive she was she probably would have made really really good money but then again I don't know if they would have uh hired women bartenders back in those days so uh other than uh playing the LSD addicted prostitute and Easy Rider uh she also played Jack Nicholson's girlfriend in Five Easy Pieces 1970 Five Easy Pieces I see I never heard of these movies I I need to watch more movies maybe I should just give up on YouTube so also uh I want to say she well we we'll come back to that she something a little controversial nowadays um she was also in a gunfight she did a little bit of western movies a gunfight with uh Kirk Douglas and Johnny Cash I never knew Johnny Cash did any acting oh and let's not forget 1974's rhinoceros which was a comedy and she starred with Jean Wilder and so I I guess her her first like major major you know major film that she started in I guess it was considered what airport 1975 her first major commercial film but other than that I mean I'm pretty sure that a lot of you guys out there know exactly who I'm talking about I'm sure these bunnies don't cuz bunnies don't speak English what's up bunny what are we doing okay I'll leave you alone so here's a here's a little bit of something that's a little bit controvers controvers controversial so in 1982 she played a transwoman in a uh 1982 uh Broadway play starring uh share and and Sandy Dennis here listen to this I I I want to read this to you really quick um what she said so she said quote for this role uh I did some research into some pretty depressing statistics about people who become transsexuals and how they don't feel complete unquote now today that would be considered hate speech can you believe it guys can you believe it that'd be considered hate speech that's nuts that's nuts anyways uh sadly uh in November 10th of excuse me November of 2010 she was diagnosed with ulary cancer I I never even heard of that kind of cancer and uh a very very sad uh you know very very beautiful woman very very sad and this is her final resting place this is the very beautiful and talented Karen Black it's inscribed on her Stone beloved actress writer wife mother and friend to love someone is to make them feel seen and that might have been something that she referenced earlier when she was at school how the Drama teacher the teachers didn't see her I could be misquoting her but I I get that from what she said uh in an interview about the uh about the school and so you know I was here because I was doing a video about Junior SE and he's buried at the same cemetery and I was you know told about her and um I I would have felt a little bad if I didn't do a quick impromptu video just to show you guys her grave and talk you know very briefly about her career uh she passed in uh August August 8th of 2013 uh in the hospital in Santa Monica and I was uh I was watching an interview that she did with Pat sjck I think that was at it was either at the pat sjck show or he was filling in for Johnny Carson I don't know but uh she just came across as a very beautiful inside and outside she had just a a funny quirky interview and I enjoyed I really did enjoy uh watching it and um after watching the interview I definitely wanted to do this quick video so rest and peace to Karen Black uh forever uh beloved in Hollywood all right guys I'm out of here I'll see you on the next video be good y'all peace out
