time now for built for Success presented by Ram trucks arguably the biggest matchup in week one features two teams with something to prove as the 14th ranked Clemson Tigers go on the road to take on the top ranked team of the nation the Georgia Bulldogs Georgia again opens the season as the number one team in the nation and they haven't lost a regular season game since 2020 so let's go ahead and talk about it Gary with a a simple game and we're going to call this love it or hate we got a l show the people the L that will be for love not lose and we got a dookie if you hate it because you sometimes you love chocolate ice cream we're going to say that's a hat that's what it is I also love how this is like most approve in Georgia's like won two of the last three national championships and before they came into prominence it was Clemson winning all the national championships but all of a sudden week one we're like they better winning now and we're going to talk about a couple things as to why Clemson has kind of gotten to this position where they are right now so I'm going to give you some prompt and you decide if you love it or hate it starting off with Carson Beck at the quarterback position he is back after passing for nearly 4,000 yards a year ago so love or hate Carson Beck's chances at winning the Heisman all right I'm going to focus on the specific question first and foremost though Alex as our director is going to hone in on this you know what I love first yeah that sweater o right there um but based off of what we literally just saw at folon field last night I hate that really Heisman Trophy winner going to go to either shador Sanders or Travis Hunter listen and I'm not here to be you know knee-jerk reaction or fire off a spicy take what we saw Travis Hunter do at the tail end of last season going into week one of this season against the North Dakota State team by the way that's like FCS perennial Powerhouse Champions three touchdowns seven catches over the century mark and oh yeah had a handful of tackles like if he can keep that pace up keep that consistency up I don't even care if Colorado's a winning football team I think the Heisman Trophy starts and ends somewhere with someone in Boulder yes Carson Beck he was an early preseason favorite with odds and that's because listen He's Got The Power of Georgia on his side they're always going to be in prime time they're always going to be part of the national discussion the Great Northwest Dylan Gabriel right now he's the odds on favorite but it's a quarterback quarterback Quarterback Award so I also like sprinkling in The X Factor that is a two-way star and after week one people are saying the best college football player on the planet in Travis Hunter so basically I you're going to put the dookie up okay dookie which is no disrespect to Carson who is in his fifth year at Georgia which is such a rarity to see especially in the day of stop it I love this come on man winning the Heisman yes think about okay so Carson Beck is back but not only him being back the offensive coordinator Mike Bobo is back right so this is their second year together in the same system last year they Aver almost 500 yards per game scoring nearly 40 points per game and they added in the transfer Portal Georgia added at the wide receiver position they added at the running back position they added at the offensive line they literally have one of the best offensive lines in the country so now you bring back Carson Beck you talk about all those things in terms of protecting the quarterback giving them a run game giving him some weapons I think this is the year he becomes unlocked but their schedule is going to be tough and and and I I see that but the thing about shadur is he's going to have a little bit of a lighter schedule than Georgia will have now the Georgia I emphasized it at the at at the beginning they haven't lost a regular season game since 2020 so love it or hate it Georgia should be favored in every single game this season and listen here's here's their schedule by the way I am an honorary member of them dogs all that being said look at this middle of the Season Gauntlet they have to go to Alabama they have to go to Texas and they have to go to Old Miss all three of those teams as presently constructed four five and six in the national rankings Alabama going to give them their best shot obviously everything is still an unknown with Cale debor in his first season down there at Tuscaloosa but Texas if if it's not Georgia it's going to be Texas winning the SEC but hotti totty would like a word because Jackson Dart and Lane kein system they are going to hang up points so all that said gosh that's that's so difficult back to back back to back dookies I mean on road games Bama Old Miss and Texas that's tough that is tough uh but I still think that Georgia should be favored in all those games until you prove otherwise the only team to have some type of success against Georgia is Alabama they have dog walked everybody that they have faced and I'm telling you this season the Georgia Bulldogs are going to be great there is some concerns on the defensive line because they don't have as much first round Talent as have had in the past but everywhere else they are stacked but on the other side dbos Sweeney has been criticized for being behind the times for not wanting to get with it because he would rather get lost he's not going to get in the transfer portal once again zero transfers for the Clemson Tiger so love or hate the love the lack of transfer players has hurt this Clemson program here's the thing about DAV o Sweeney he's he's keeping the paper industry alive okay the newspaper industry alive because he's like you know what I get my news and information what's the internet I don't need TV I still read impr print and get my fingertips uh dirty love or hate Clemson's lack of transfers hurting the program I'm saying I also hate that take as well they were 9 and4 last season yeah understood they stumbled out of the gates also understood it was it was a transfer it was a new regime um offens if Kate Club Nick was in his first season they lost four out of their first eight games but then what did they do after that they rattled off five straight so at the tail end of last season okay when these guys finally got their footing underneath them they looked not quite like the Trevor Lawrence um you know National Championship type Tigers but they at least were rounding into form in rattling off multiple wins in an ACC that even after week zero Florida State losing to Georgia think the of I don't think it hurts him to the extent of being able to still be dominant in the ACC on a National Playoff scale TBD yeah well I'm going to go ahead and say love it in terms of I love the fact that the lack of transfer players has hurt this team yes they returned listen they returned 68% of their production which is great and they've been able to develop guys on their roster but just think about it all right what are you going to do besides developing recruiting but when you look at Clemson's recruiting class they've had the 15th ranked class in 2024 that right there is a third straight season that they've had fewer than 10 ESPN 300 players and then when you look at Georgia they also hit the recruiting class and they also hit the transfer portal Kirby Smart became the first coach to have over 20 players in the ESPN 300 recruited in backto back years so when I look at Clemson last year they struggled at the wide receiver position because there were so many injuries and if they just hit the transporter a little bit maybe they got a Keon Coleman maybe they got one of these guys that was in the transporter just help Kate kumnick out a little bit it would have made a difference for this team zero transfers yeah okay I get it are you recruiting well winning program no you're not but still winning program that still winning program Longo I'm old I'm old enough to remember Clemson winning some national championships listen all that being said give me Georgia in this game they're the number one team for a reason neutral site give me them dogs dogs I'm going with the dogs too 13 and a half Point favorite I'm rolling with them all right so plenty of top 25 action going on so let's let's talk about it and we're going to start off with USC at LSU is on ABC SEC on ABC is getting started it's a top 25 showdown in Las Vegas so which team do you think needs some Hallelujah
