hi everyone I'm meteorologist Valerie Mills thanks for logging on to my fox hurricane still closely watching the Hawaiian Islands as we now have hurricane warnings out for the big island including tropical storm warnings and that is as hurricane H still spinning just to the south of the islands there healthy looking storm at this point and a lot of convection kind of wrapping around that Storm Center so you can see where the big island is right now kind of getting all of the outer bands from that we're expecting the High Surf and the heavy rains to continue through Sunday some improvement on Monday as the Storm still sustained winds at 80 m per hour but it is moving to the West at about 10 miles per hour so we'll start to see the impacts kind of pull away as this main storm starts to kind of pick up a little bit of forward speed but Hawaii especially the Big Island continuing to deal with those tropical storm conditions through the day Sunday and early Monday There's a look at where it is on the big map and then we look at what's behind it yet another hurricane hurricane Gilma this one even stronger as it's sitting over some warmer Waters there and then right behind that system yet another area deemed invest 92l not yet a tropical system but it is something that we're closely watching for some additional development here wind she are going to work in favor of these storm strengthening and they've got some warm Waters ahead of that so we do expect some additional strengthening from those two storms over the next few days we'll be closely watching that hurricane Gilma look at this category 4 strength right now sustained winds 130 M hour this one going to be moving to the West Northwest at about 9 miles hour so it is expected to maintain that hurricane strength then starts to weaken as it gets a little bit closer to the Hawaiian Islands this one looks like it's going to kind of scoot to the north of the islands compared to H which kind of ends it up on that more southerly track so it does look like will no longer be a hurricane as it approaches the islands but this is not until Friday so we still have several days to watch this and we will continue to keep a close eye on it the Pacific is active but we switch things over to the Atlantic Basin and things really are quiet and we're expecting them to stay that way for the next 5 to seven days or so a lot of dust continuing to kick off the coast of Africa this is right around the region where these waves would try and develop at this point but we don't really have the things in place so it's early September where we expect those Seasons to start heating up and then we'll expect more activity moving forward as we head into September we'll watch this and bring you more updates right here on my fox hurricane
