[Music] it's roster cutdown day around the National Football League as teams are finalizing their initial active 53 man roster and with it the Buffalo Bills have made a trade with the New York Jets it's a rare trade within the AFC East Division as the Buffalo Bills have reportedly acquired defensive back and return specialist branding conington and a deal that includes a swap of late round 2026 draft picks welcome back to the bills bunker I'm Jake Varco and the Buffalo Bills have made a trade on roster cutdown day it might not be a massive trade that sends shock waves around the National Football League but it is still trade and we have to discuss it right here on the bills bunker if you haven't yet I encourage you to subscribe to the channel check out other content right here on the bills bunker and stay tuned for so much more coming your way if you're new to the channel I need to let you know that I will be attending every single home game for the Buffalo Bills throughout the season and I'll also be going to a road game so stay tuned for all that great content coming your way throughout the season let's talk about this trade and a little bit about the Buffalo Bills 53 man roster that the news is still trickling in as I speak to you Brandon codrington signed with the New York Jets this off season as an undrafted free agent after totaling 93 total tackles and 10 pass deflections over a 4-year stint at Division 1 FCS School North Carolina Central he is also a valuable special teams returner in Durham returning 69 kicks for over 1300 yards and 61 punts for 789 yards throughout his collegiate career he averaged nearly 20 yards per kick return and nearly 13 yds per punt return taking four total kicks back to the house rington signed with the Jets after trying out at their main mini camp and he returned two kicks for 71 yards and six punts for 89 yards throughout preseason action in Buffalo dayquan Hardy was the clear-cut favorite to return kicks for the bills as a sixth round draft selection out of Penn State but he reportedly suffered an injury in the preseason finale against Carolina this past Saturday now the severity of his injury is currently unknown but at this time it appears this trade is likely a direct result of Hardy going down with that injury and with the injury dayquan Hardy has been cut from the Buffalo Bills roster which is really unfortunate news for the sixth round draft selection coming out of Penn State who looked to be the team's return specialist prior to this injury as for codrington the bills have just traded for him so it's also safe to assume that he will be on the final 53 man roster he'll like likely serve as a depth piece for the bills defense with the opportunity to compete for reps as a defensive back but mostly he'll be serving as a Return Man and other notable Bills news on roster cutdown day Frank Gore Jr and KJ hamler were released by the team while Hometown kid and Fan Favorite linebacker Joe andreon has reportedly made the initial 53 man roster so that is it the final 53 man roster has been finalized you can look at 27 players that have been cut right here on your screen and da Juan Hardy yes he is on that list so Brandon codrington appears to be the Buffalo Bills number one Return Man right now and that's interesting I mean he looked really good in preseason action we'll see how that translates to the field and maybe someone else is brought in like someone else is brought in to compete with codrington for the return job but the Buffalo Bills just went ahead and made a trade to bring him in so it appears that he is that guy for the Buffalo Bills they wouldn't have made that trade otherwise right so other news obviously Frank Gord Jr being released that sucks to see I thought he did some really good things in the preseason but the Buffalo Bills have a crowded running back room and it was a good problem to have Jo andreon is a great story the hometown kid from Buffalo he has made the team fan favorite already and he hasn't played in a regular season game but that's great to see good for him congratulations on that Joe and this is some interesting stuff the Buffalo Bills 53 man roster finalized and the Buffalo Bills make a trade with the New York Jets to bring in Brandon codrington so I'm interested to know your thoughts on the final 53 man roster who did you want to see make the Bills roster that didn't make the roster let me know in the comments below and how are you feeling about the addition of Brandon codrington the undrafted free agent signing by the New York Jets now a member of the Buffalo Bills if you haven't yet click subscribe stay tuned for more content coming your way all throughout the season I'll be at every home game for the Buffalo Bills and I'll also be going to a road game so stay tuned for all that great content coming way all season long if you haven't yet click subscribe I'm Jake Varco thank you for watching the bills bunker go bills [Music]
