$25 Budget Prepper Pantry Stock Up from Dollar General

hey everyone welcome to Homestead corner I'm Jenny and today I've got a $25 budget stock up from the Dollar [Music] General so in these crazy times it is more important than ever to make sure you're keeping your pantry fully stocked all those emergency PL supplies things that we made need from day to day we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow but we are absolutely sure that it's going to get crazier in the next few months because this is just this world is on fire right now I can't even believe it so this weekend we were able to run into Dollar General and I was able to use the five off 25 coupon which is wonderful so I spent a total of $25.73 and um I had a savings of let's see what was the savings on here $12.75 so that is pretty good I was pretty happy about that we got a bunch of stuff for $25 I found a few items on clearance so I snag those up and just some other things to keep that pantry as full as possible so let's see the first thing I grabbed were two packages of Ziploc bags these are super handy for all sorts of stuff um we use them all the time I like to keep plenty of them in the pantry uh because that way anything leftover anything like that you can stick it in a bag you can take snacks with you because it's a lot cheaper to buy the big bags of snacks than the little teeny individual ones and we just make our own little snack bags to take when we go out cuz that helps us save money so we can make ends meet God knows that is not easy anymore either it is just crazy and then we found I found a couple packs of these uh tea lights and they're originally a dollar but they were in the clearance section so 50 cents a piece which is great can't beat that you can always use tea lights for cooking light you can use them for heat all sorts of stuff any kind of candles we love to grab those up to make sure we've got them and when you are stocking up do not forget your pets I got a little bag of bones here these are non GMO and they are let's say a product of Canada it says they're certified organic for Canadian standards I guess I don't see that American label on there but you know they're all different and the next thing I grabbed was a sixpack of Vienna sausages their single cans are over a dollar a can but you can get a six-pack for five bucks so it's like getting free can and I always love that whenever we can grab deals I like to grab them and then I also grabbed a few more spices cuz you cannot have enough spices in your pantry I grabbed some chili powder and paprika both of them were a dollar which is cheaper than any of the other stores around us you can't get any spices for a dollar even at Walmart now they are up to a142 I think in our Loc Stores um it just keeps Rising everything so whenever you can get those deals definitely grab them up I also grabbed a couple boxes of the Hungry Jack potatoes we love these and they do store longterm you have to repackage them in an airtight container cuz these little boxes are not airtight but they are wonderful just cover them with water let them sit for a few minutes while you get everything else ready cook them up they're delicious uh we love those we keep them in the pantry all the time I love them in breakfast bowls we put them in breakfast casseroles we use them all sorts of ways and they are super good so a dollar is not bad and the next thing I grabbed they had this in the dollar section and it was 100 safety pins these are super handy to keep in all your emergency bags if you get anything broken something like that you can clip it together with one of these safety pins it's super handy to have we love those not just for sewing but for all sorts of stuff they really come in super handy let's see the next thing I grabbed was a 96 o bottle of bleach these are great for cleaning all sorts of stuff bleach only lasts about six to months to a year once you open it the air just starts dissipating anyway so dissipating that chlorine in there so we want to make sure that we're using up the bleach we have and we're not over storing it because that is just a waste of money the next thing I grabbed was a sixpack of toilet paper six rolls for a dollar that was pretty good I have not seen this brand there before I don't know if it's something new or not it's smart care it's called but six for a dollar they're pretty squishy so I thought we would give it a try if you know maybe it's not your favorite toilet paper but for emergencies be happy to have it definitely having that little extra tucked away can be a blessing and then I also grabbed the SpaghettiOs were on sale by three for $3 so a doll a can and that's perfect for those emergency open and eat Foods definitely not something that everybody wants to have on the Shelf but it is great for an emergency food to have there and cuz you can just open and eat it right out of the can if you're not able to heat it up it's ready to go so we do like that they also had tuna four for um four for $4 so instead of I think they were $128 or $140 maybe but they were um four for $4 so a buck a piece once you get that deal so I thought that was a great deal as well and using that $5 off 25 also does help I know a lot of you have told me that over the years but I don't go there a whole lot but I was able to get there on the weekend this time and use that coupon so it was nice that extra $5 and free stuff basically and then a 32 oz bottle of refill uh hand soap you can't have too much soap another one of those things it's not going to go bad in your pantry I've never had soap go bad we just keep it rotated and even if it's way past whatever date is on it it still is just fine the next thing I grabbed is this grout and tile cleaner they have it in the dollar section and I just love these for in the shower in all those little cracks and stuff so having an extra one in the pantry is definitely going to be helpful to make sure you can keep everything nice and clean in emergency situations and all the time and then I also grabbed a pound of pasta this one was a dollar none of the other shapes were a dollar so I only bought spaghetti but you know grab what you can and I always look for deals to see if I can get pasta under a dollar whenever I see it on sale I grab it definitely but even a dollar is still a fairly good price I've seen pasta almost $3 a box in some of the stores which is nuts and then I also grabbed some idy salt you want to make sure you've got plenty of salts in your pantry so you have them for all different kinds of stuff salt is also great for cleaning it's great you can I've used these right on the ice in the winter time uh whatever you need it for iodi salt is great to have a little bit extra in the pantry if you're not eating those processed foods you are going to need to add a little bit of iodine to your diet we do need it and you get it in some of your foods but um if you're not getting the right amount you can definitely add a little bit of eyy salt to help that out and then the last thing I bought and these were on the clearance uh the summer clearance table they were half off and I can't remember they were $4 a piece and they're just these little oil lanterns which I thought was great they are ready to go they got a wick they're lid they're all set and ready to rock you right in there fill it up with oil your lamp oil or cooking oil if you've got rancid cooking oil it makes great lanterns um fill it right up these will last these are I think quart size jars they're nice and big and they will definitely last a super a long time so when you put that oil in there so $2 a piece I thought was a great deal you've got your Wicks Lids everything's ready just dump that oil in I thought that was great I love those and uh and anytime we can get a deal on it and get it into the pantry for having something extra is definitely worth it so get out there and make sure you are keeping that pantry as full as possible when things go sideways in this country you'll be ready and able to take care of your family that's it for today I hope you enjoyed this video and I hope to see you next time bye
