during the handing over ceremony commissioner Joanna gondo reflected on her achievements for the past decade the crime rate was manageable and under control despite the slight increase over the years reduction in certain crimes such as robbery gender based violence fraud theft and road excident was reduced by 9% each we have also observed a decrease on natural death related incident of suicide drowning crocodile attacks and in a speech read on behalf of Police Inspector General Deputy Inspector General for administration Major General Ana Marin ninda says the force is confident that commissioner hura will deliver and free the kavango east region from the skage and grips of crime commissioner hura is under instruction to Place boots on the ground for crime prevention to intensify uh for crime prevention activities you are further directed to develop new plans that will complement what is already in place with the aim of reducing crime and disorder if at all in this region Additionally you have to reassess the state of Investigation in this region and ensure that the quality of Investigations improve and that uh dogs are presented before court to for Pro for further prosecution and so forth the incoming Regional Commander assured the police force that he will hit the ground running so I will make sure that there is Boots On The Ground by engaging in crime prevention and problem solving in this region my vision for policing will be aligned with the vision of the Inspector General of the namibian police force as contained in the namibian police force strategic plan in addition our policing activity and posture will be anchored on the nle Strategic pillar of effective policy building partnership and organizational excellence commissioner hura will commence duties on the 1st of September 2024 [Applause]
