so uh yesterday afternoon uh my team Sergeant Cardinal and several of our officers did affect an arrest on a 12-year-old juvenile students for terroristic threats uh that were recirculating through social media we are currently asking that the community do not recirculate these or repost them once they find them uh it does uh create fear and extend that threat throughout the community if you do find something on social media we're asking that you do report it to Safe Voice or to the appropriate law enforcement agencies is there any other questions yes how do you guys go about tracking something like that so we uh we collaborate with other law enforcement agencies in the area uh so we do want to thank the FBI uh they were strategic in assisting us with information to locate this Juda did you get information from the FBI first and then you guys kind of started investigating no safe voice was the originating agency that provided this information to us and we immediately launched an investigation as soon as they notified us were they specific schools or was it just a general threat do you think so there were several schools listed for this threat um and then there was continuous repost that started uh mentioning different schools throughout the district so it did end up going districtwide was the juvenile part of the school district yes cor can go forward can you categorize what the student what kind of threat the violent threat the student made can you talk about that uh they did they did specifically speak to gun violence uh there were photographs in the post of uh Firearms several Firearms uh laid out on on certain platforms and so they were indicating that it would be gun violence Miss Baker in the past I mean we've heard recently to with school shootings this is a little different but the parents have been held responsible how do you guys involve the parents in this if you do it all in this instance the parents would not uh be involved as part of our investigation they were actually very Cooperative um and assisted us strategically throughout this investigation kids and teenagers might not realize the magnitude of something like this what's your messaging to someone at home thinking about posting something stupid on social this is part of that repost we that we're that we're talking about there are actual real life consequences for the things that you are doing online and so we would encourage our students to to learn more about that and pay more attention to that because it can have a negative effect how often would you say uh you guys see threats online it's very frequent it's more frequent than it is actually in person um obviously all online social media is pretty much how our our youth communicate so that's the the greatest level of platform that we receive threats through was it specifically a a school just generally an environment or people at the school there no there was no individuals named it was just uh directed at schools how hard is something like this to trace I mean with the recirculating some kid posts it on Snapchat it gets shared 200 times how do you how do you find where that threat originated from it it is very difficult to track but that's where we uh collaborate with our other law enforcement Partners uh to ensure that everybody is on the same page and we're all receiving the same information to narrow it down was the suspect known to law enforcement for anything else in the past no what's your messaging to parents who might be concerned about something like this we've heard from a lot of parents reaching out saying I don't want to send my kid to school because I saw this threat what your M right as I indicated in my earlier press release there is no ongoing threat to any of the schools or any of the future dates that were listed in any of the social media posts so they can feel free to send their students to to school there's no thre is this is this juvenile being held at Jan Evans right now currently is the weapons found in the picture were those found in possession of the juvenile or was that just like a generic picture who found online so this is still an ongoing investigation there's not a lot of information that it can release relative to that do you have any reasons as to why the juvenile was posting these again Ono investigation I can't Rel that has the have you has the washer County School District wor worked with the FBI before yes frequently where did you arrest the subject was he at school was he at home the juvenile uh was arrested at their residence was it yesterday did the news release okay thank you any other questions
