Some tropical activity off the coast of southeast Texas. Leaders at the city and state levels are in preparation mode. This summer, we find ourselves preparing for the threat of severe weather. And leaders from the city to the coast say they're preparing for the worst case scenario ahead of time. Now starting today, leaders along the coast with Galveston Island beach patrol say they'll be out moving equipment off the beach and across the Houston metro area says point energy says they're mobilizing resources by pre staging crews in the event of widespread power outages. Governor Greg Abbott says he's directed the Texas division of emergency management to increase the readiness level of the state Operations Center in anticipation of what he says could be heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Meanwhile, leaders here in the city and along the coast are urging residents to do their part to prepare as well by watching the forecast very closely.
