Intro bosos cafeteros your channel for Colombian soccer Colombian football in English and your point to keep up to date with how the Colombian national team is performing in the World Cup qualifying campaign on their road to United States Mexico Canada 2026 we're kicking off the games here the first couple of games two out of six that are happening in 2024 the campaign is going strong Colombia got out of those two games with four points as you might have known already um and we're going to review the games that happened first in Peru on September 6 and then in baranga against Argentina on September 10th so let's Dive Right In with the game against Peru nesto Lorenzo Peru decided to change his starting 11 and put James Rodriguez on the bench beginning the game anticipating that he will need him rested for the game against Argentina that kind of was a shot in their own foot because without hamus the team was completely different didn't find Solutions in the build up and had a tough time getting into the game and then it was no surprise that Peru went up 10 that already happened in the second half after hamus came in at halftime so Nesta Lorenzo knew he had to fix something but with the changes at halftime with hamus in um and also changes in the defense um Carlos qua had to be substituted out being injured and Mina came in Jerry Mina usually doesn't play a big role on the national team anymore but yeah Peru went up 10 in the 68th minute and then Colombia had to put all of their offensive weapons up front assist by John Duran who had now come in for John Cordoba who started this game John Duran with the assist to Luis Diaz Luis Diaz who saved that point here in Peru in Lima and the game ended 1-1 again starting lineup a little bit different Sanchez was injured on defense for him qua came in qua got injured as well uh so that against Argentina that position changed again Mina was being Mina so after he came in also not a huge Factor LMA had a strong game but yeah we've Sina in instead of Hames I I think there was a big factor why the team underperformed in the first half that changed in the second half when hamus came in and the team found back to their old ways to the regular style of play with hamus in number number 10 and with John Cordoba in the right forward position and Lucho on left but the team knew they clearly underperformed Peru only got their third point they haven't won a single game in the qualifying campaign three draws one here against Colombia they could have won this game to be honest Colombia absolutely underperformed Peru could have won they didn't win but it was close one point here and that wasn't a good sign going Throwback into the game against Argentina though against Argentina at home with so much more at stake the reputation after the Copa America final and I made a separate video on that you can check that out up here but my thesis was that Colombia lost that game because they kind of lost Focus after one and a half hour delay to kick off the game half an hour halftime and the stage being a final that team a little bit too unexperienced or not f fed enough to bring that quality that that free flow of game onto the pitch and they lost in overtime against Argentina here Colombia had a complete Argentina different approach a more free approach the the the style of player actually I should say stayed similar ham is now back in the starting lineup he basically he almost finished the game I think he was substituted out like 5 minutes before the end but he took control in Midfield was the best player on the Colombian side he conducted that game he had Lucho on left now Duran on right in the forward positions to orchestrate the game the back for Wing backs moving up better and lmer in central Medfield and defensive Central Midfield to defend those situations where Argentina um received the ball got the ball back and kind of Switched not fast enough Colombia was very good in stopping those momentums but then through two standard situations Colombia won this game the first one corner kick hamus brought the ball in from the corner and mosera who made his start here because again Sanchez is injured Questa is also injured and he mosa went in through this game starting in the back four with his header to make it 10 he later on would also get substituted out with an injury in the second half but for now the team was up 1 Argentina then tied the game right at the beginning of the second half 1-1 by Gonzalez and then in the 60th minute hamus Rodriguez from the penalty spot after a foul by the Argentinian team who was that was first not seen by the referee but then V helped out and you can clearly see the second foot here completely tackling the ankle of the Colombian player and definitely a penalty in my opinion kind of a shame that the V didn't get in right away so it took about four minutes or so until the next situation was cleared for V to show the scene to the ref um but once that happened I I don't think there was a huge debate on whether there was a penalty or not obviously you always have Argentinian fans who want to argue about this so on social media they're blaming the referee but come on you you know you can't tackle a player in the Box in a penalty box like that and expect not to um get a penalty against you so Colombia 21 completely deservedly won this game Argentina lost without Messi and I wish that would have been the cop America final it wasn't I predicted it that they would play more freely in their usual flow if the stakes weren't that high and so it happened here Colombia now in Outlook second position Argentina with their second loss in this campaign Colombia still undefeated and in second position with 16 points in the World Cup qualifying campaign with regards to upcoming games and what to look forward to here against Bolivia and Chile in October next two games coming up um Colombia will play Bolivia in El Alto on October 10th so in the highest Stadium high altitude 4 kilometers high I believe it is in El Alto highest altitude stadium in the world so I hope the team is prepared for that low oxygen game Bolivia's only ADV Vantage are the home games and the fact that the opponents usually aren't prepared for that altitude and then against Chila on October 15th back home in banija both games have an early kickoff time at 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. so especially the game in ban Kia similar to the game in Argentina here at a very hot time during the day ban Kia temperatures will be above 30 humidity will be above 80 um definitely a struggle here also for the Colombian team those players are playing overseas or playing in Brazil and Mexico in Europe um not used to that heat and humidity as much as um locals local players would but team isn't comprised of local Colombian players and none of the stest plays in the Colombian perim but I get from a historic factor from a historic standpoint tradition is to have the home games played in barania Lorenzo’s team regardless let's look at the formation what we can expect against Bolivia and Chile as of now it looks like that John Duran has taken the starting spot as the right winger from John Cordoba who will be playing a role as a substitute moving forward in my opinion John Duran next to luchu as the forwards Hames as Undisputed number 10 I think the best decision neest Lorenzo can make is play hamus until the World Cup including the World Cup it doesn't matter how old he is hamus has shown that on the national team he's a different Beast now that he has that competitive um Club Action back in La Liga um he will physically be able to stay up to the task um even if he's not playing he'll have the facilities and hopefully the motivation to stay physically in shape to be able to make it to the World Cup and on the national team you can always count on hamus so hamus the best player on this team needs to keep his position keeps his role as a number 10 and in the playing style as it is I don't think there will be many substitutions there in Midfield lmer as a defensive midfielder set a a stone a wall in that position John Aras on left Richard Ros on right and then the back four in my opinion also should stay as they are if there aren't any injuries like there were against Argentina and against Peru but on left moika on right Munos and then you have the central Defenders lukumi and Sanchez again Sanchez was injured for him we saw qua coming in against Peru and then when he got injured we saw mosera playing against Argentina before Mosa o got injured when qua got injured against Peru um Nesta Lorenzo put jerina in um I think moving forward again if there are injuries in that position as they have been in the past I think the the depth chart would be Sanchez qua mosera and one of those three should stay healthy I hope but with that I want to say thank Outro you for watching I'm definitely looking forward to covering the next four games of the Colombian national team two in October two in November um which will then conclude the 2024 World Cup qualifying games for this year and we'll have another six games next year before the World Cup kicks off in less than two years from now so we'll stay up to date I'll keep you informed on anything that's happening in the meantime on how the team performs on how the teams doing was playing again still undefeated and if you've been following this channel you know why um please subscribe if you're interested in content like this until next time thank you so much for watching
