migrants but I'm going to screw the pensioners how does that make any sense at all you know that 4,000 figure the thing is and here's the real danger for the labor party in this government it doesn't need even half of that number of tragic old AG pensioners to die of cold this winter do you know how many it will take for it to be an even greater political catastrophe for this government one named long sentences here are deported to their countries of origin if they if they don't have long-term entitlement to be here if they're not British citizens then why on Earth is a British taxpayer supporting their prison place at a time when we don't have enough prison places every government says they're going to deport foreign criminals and no government in my time as a political reporter has you think this should work should it be means tested because yes I take the point there are lots of people in their older age who can afford it but there are also hundreds of thousands who can't and it's a bit like VAT on schools you're assuming that every pensioner is minted you're you're expecting us to believe that every person who says the kids to private school is minted that isn't the case Jim is it no it isn't there are several of my friends who are just over the limit and they are going to suffer unfortunately if they're really serious and saying that the people who who are on say 40% tax rate possibly can afford it and don't need it that's great so why don't they just say anyone on 40% paying 40% tax don't need it but the rest will receive it in fact they ought to use some of the money they're saving for the 40% uh the 40% taxpayers to give them more and I think that would at least solve some of the problem for them Isabelle thoughts yeah I mean it makes sense there are a lot of people I mean I remember my own um late parents receiving the winter fuel allowance and they they were by no means wealthy people but I don't think they exactly needed it I think they felt that finally they were getting something small back for everything they've been hammered for over the years um but it just shouldn't be taken away from people for whom it makes all the difference it's very easy for the commentariat and MPS who by the way can claim for subsidizing their second second homes yeah brilliant it's very easy for for those people to forget that a few hundred pounds makes a huge difference to an awful lot of ordinary people who are not you know they don't have any other income by the time they've retired those kind of figures are actually really pivotal in a way that they're
