Inside Training Camp - Braden Fiske interview

Meanwhile we're going to take you back out to Rams camp where Taylor and Bucky had a chance to chat with Bren Fisk we here with Braden Fisk and you were the second round pick of the dra Rams in the draft this year they were aggressive and going up and trading to get to that spot and to go get their guy does this add an element of pressure uh yeah I mean I think it definitely has a little bit of pressure I mean I'm not going to sit up here and tell you it doesn't but uh I think it also just more of a yeah it feels good too you know you know they went and get got the guy they wanted you know they wanted me so they went and got me so it kind of you know element of both things you know there is pressure to you know perform but there also you know like it's a good feeling being in a place that you wanted so I think that was a big part of it as well so normally when you go to the NFL you're a rookie you kind of have to do it by yourself but you have the Good Fortune of having a teammate to come along what have you been able to learn or experience with J verse to really help you through this tough transition going from college to the NFL I think like you said you know having a familiar face in the building is always nice I mean somebody you know just to be able to go to if something's going on and then even on the fil or on the field or watching film you know somebody to you know talk things through with that familiar with already you know like things that we see in college that you know we can see out here and build off of and you know we're already kind of used to playing next to each other so things we see on the field I mean it's a little different out here cuz you know different things schematically but you know you get a feel for it pretty quick you know the more you pick things up in repetition I mean it's been good but you know having him again is you know really nice especially since literally last year we played next to each other probably the entire season Maybe other than like five reps so um no it's been uh it's been awesome Aaron Donald obviously not on the team anymore but still has a big presence here and you guys were actually planning on getting together before training camp started to get some work in did you guys ever end up doing that uh no I never got together but uh no I mean I know he's he's out there enjoying retirement right now so I can't blame him too much but uh now you know we still got our work in still uh still got to work be ready for camp and uh it's been a good it's been good so far so when I think about that dline room and and that front a lot of young guys when you have so many young first and second year players what's the energy like when you guys take the field do you feel that that sense of responsibility we need to step it up because we are trying to make an individual name and collectively trying to make your mark on the lead uh yeah I think a little bit of both I mean I think you know having a younger D line though that's a good thing because we Gel really well together you know we all get along you know we all want to help each other succeed out there and I think you know from a schematic standpoint you know we're hungry you know we're all trying to get ours but also work as a unit and I think you know no matter what team you're on the defensive line has to be the start you know we're the juice of the team you know we got to get things rolling so you know having younger guys in that room that are you know ready to get after it kind of helps too it's still early you guys had your first day of pads yesterday have you had your welcome to the NFL moment yet uh OTA is probably my first real you know welcome to the NFL with just like oh all Le that's how these guys block you know they're going to get hands on you but uh honestly training camp has been great and I think that's you know due to being an OTA getting a feel for it and you kind of get a gauge of where you're at as a player you know so then you get those five weeks before training camp like all right like this what I got to work on if I don't let welcome to the NFL is going to keep coming but uh n it's uh I think we'll be all right so one of the things I've always want to know about pass rush is like how different is it facing NFL offensive line as opposed to kind of whipping up on the Tomato cans that you whipping up at Florida right right uh I think you know more from a schematic standpoint of like seeing more things on the field you know seeing tight end sets seeing you know correlations to the running back there's more of that involved than just you know facing one guy you're facing offense now and like you know what you're seeing out on the field can all you know play part of what your you know what your pass rush is going to be cuz you're also rushing along with you know the two or three other guys that to your right or left so I mean it's kind of all encompasses you know one pass rush but it's a little different I mean these guys are bigger they're more they're definitely more technical uh I mean they get hand their hands are real you know precise so I mean it's definitely different it's a different it's a different step up but you know when you surround yourself with more talented people I mean it elevates your game too so helps out you look at last year's rookie class puka Byron Kobe they really set the standard and it's a pretty high standard is their pressure on this rookie class to live up to that expectation live up to what they did last year you know I think you know looking at those guys what they're able to do and I think you know the guys in our class we kind of look at each other in the same way like hey like you know we have an opportunity to go out there and play and uh kind of like I said know when you're surrounded by that though it elevates you you know it makes you want to work harder you know it puts you in positions you know take advantage of those situations so you know I think uh our class has a good has a pretty good shot you know we got some guys out there already making players so uh I'm excited to see where we go yeah we can't wait to see it thank you so much for taking the time and good luck this season appreciate you guys
