um speaking of Spin Zone my mindset about the Clemson offense has slightly changed I thought they were uh boo boo in a canoe uh before before I watched them against K Kentucky um I thought they were you know not very good okay uh during their spring game and then I watched Kentucky tape and you know what I'm a little bit more optimistic and I'm going to talk to you guys about this um I think if you're a Clemson fan which they are rolling in by the way we are finding more and more Clemson fans or I should say more and more Clemson fans are finding us uh as this game leads up uh to Saturday as we lead up to Saturday's game um I think if you're a Clemson fan or if you're thinking about Kade kumnick you can look at this one of two ways uh way number one is the negative way if you're a fan that thinks they're boo boo uh in a canoe if you're a Georgia fan that thinks they're going to run and boat race this uh Clemson football team out of the the stadium on Saturday this is the way you think about it right you think of watching K Club Nick last year and you go well they didn't ask that guy to make bunch of plays or a bunch of tough throws if you really watch the tape it's like man they don't drive the ball down the field a lot in fact a lot of it is uh plays in space you know a lot of Gadget plays a lot of screen plays a lot of play action roll out a lot of two-man Concepts off playay action a lot of things that are nice and simple for the quarterback and yet he still turned down a bunch of really really good plays if you turn on that tape if you watch that film study from today you will find multiple examples in that Kentucky first half of that football game where Garrett Riley the offensive coordinator has designed winners for this man to take and he turns them down consistently he either does not see it or does not trust it or whatever you want to say and you can look at that and you go well I just ain't going to never get it this is a guy that's just not going to do it he left so much yardage on the field last year and oh by the way he puts the ball at risk if I were a Clemson fan I would say all of those things and every single aspect of that department I don't think he necessarily improved last year in fact I would say he maybe even deteriorated I think maybe sometimes the play got at like at worse uh you know in terms of uh the output or the outcomes rather but if you want to look at this from the other side of the football which is the way I would probably tend to do so because I do think he is relatively talented okay um and I think he's gifted from the neck up I really do I think he's a a one Center in this department I think from the head up he's a really really solid quarterback and thinks about the game the way you're supposed to so I think I'm more on this positive end of things which is guys he a lot a lot of yardage on the field last year and there's reasons to believe that he could improve that he's going to see those things that he's going to be more confident about those things and here's what I want to say people talk about helmet comms talking to the quarterback Clemson is a signal team so they're not going to be huddling that's not what it is but here's what it might be how many times during that film study today Jonathan did I look at you and go that's clearly where the coordinator wanted him to go there's prob like three times three four times and they were all massive hitters right yeah here's what I'm thinking I'm thinking Garrett Riley just those three or four times cuz they don't take a lot of shots watch them they don't they they design them they cultivate them they wait for it to see and then they strike it's not a we are going to dictate offense it is where is the shot play for me type of offense so if that's the case Garrett riy can signal these plays in and before 15 seconds say hey the Dover is going to be open and then guess what going into the play he going to hit the over all right when there's certain things where it's like I'm trying to design this winner for us I saw that on tape so many times last year for Clemson and the quarterback does not execute that might be able to go away now here's the deal Garrett Riley can't be overbearing with this stuff right he can't be in his ear the whole time all right well they might play man if they play man we're going to do this they play zone we're going to do that's going to inundate your quarterback with stuff but when you got the shot when you got the winner which you're Garrett Riley I I I thought you had just a year last year I thought oh man you must have forgot how to call plays when I went back and studied it today that was not the case I saw games and moments in that game against Kentucky where the coordinator on offense was beating the coordinator on defense okay and the quarterback was not executing this might be an opening and a window for this guy to get these execution moments happening couldn't that also though create moments where you get your quarterback just staring down wide receivers 100% that's what I'm saying you can't over you can't overload it but what you do in that situation is you say hey we got a play action pass read it posted do if you read it posted over and occupy the safety do is going to be there that's a 5-second window where we're signaling the play in you're seeing the play as a quarterback I'm in your ear saying hey read it read it post it over got okay but take your eyes to the post first I think it could also slow the game down a little bit because you have until the 15sec mark where you're talking to the quarterback so you're going to have the OC reading for these you don't think so dude they led the nation in place per game last year they want play fast that's what they want to do all I'm saying is when we design the shots and it's guys it's not hard they're they're two man Concepts if you watch the film study it's we got mesh underneath we got a post in a do that's it so the mesh is the mesh is check down they're not even in the progression the progression is post a over when it's that easy we can make sure you're hitting the do I think that's where there's some area of growth right here for uh Clemson other thing you'll notice we talked about it adium big counter football team they're going to run counter at you a lot on Saturday uh also think you can completely chunk an entire portion of their identity out which was the 21 Personnel they're not going to be in it they don't have two good running backs they got or at least two trustable wory running backs they got mafa and they got some young cats that they think are talented but they haven't seen yet I'd be prepared for rpos but not RPO Slants I'd be prepared for RPO go balls they're going to two-way go outside with these big bodied receivers stellato and the other cat number eight they're either going to try to stack you if they can't stack you they're going they're going to back shoulder fade you cuz they got length they're big body possession type receivers and they're not like like Alabama back in the day was Heavy RPO slant out of 3x1 right they take the number two the number three wide receiver which is more than likely Devonte Smith they'd run him on a slant behind the the front side inside linebacker okay and they'd wait for that inside linebacker to suck up now they're going to get you in a situation where they're going to try to see if they've got a one-on-one outside if they have the one-on-one outside and they're outnumbered in terms of box count they're going to throw that one-on-one you follow me but it's not a slant it's a go ball based off what I saw in spring game okay so that worth noting uh big big day for Corners okay Georgia Corners are going to be put on test uh as are the Clemson corters on the other side of the football uh what other the notes did I have um play action mesh in verse they're a big uh obvious obvious play action scenarios like you're a football guy what what are most likely hey the balls at this portion of the field be looking out for play action well after a big chunk play after a big chunk play probably toward the middle once you get past your own 25 yeah my my thought process here is the moment I get past to 50 or the moment I'm in a second and short past to 50 yep the moment I'm in a second and short or even past the the ne my own 45 once I'm in that middle of the field a play where you can kind of not not throw away but risk like having correct we can chunk this play we're either in four down territory it's exactly what I said on film we're either in four down territory or we're in a situation where we know we can take a risk MH those obvious hey watch out for play actions be a alert I'd be alert every single time did they seem to win a lot out of 21 person now like is that going to be a major that's it was because Shipley and mafa were their their best right yeah it was it was 100% Personnel based they were trying to get shots with Shipley out of the back field they don't have that this year I don't believe um so they're going to have to go elsewhere I I think they avoid 21 Personnel at all I wouldn't even prep it honestly even though it was one of their base personnels last year especially towards the end of the season as Shipley got healthy and mafa during Shipley's time of not being there really started getting to totes uh they they they hopped in that 21 Personnel a lot more it'd probably be interesed they I'm in Georgia has it I'm sure they'd probably want to watch film of when Shipley was hurt it was just mafa yeah you I mean seeing how much they went into that then that's one thing about film nowadays is like in high school you exchange like last three or whatever you the coach decide on in college if you put the on tape I can watch it if you did it on a snap in a real football game I got it I got it I got it broken down EXO stun did it for me they do a great job um was that all the notes on that yeah that was all my notes on film
