do you remember when Kirby Smart told his team that they were going to have to win one moment at a time take the game one moment at a time that clip is resurfacing from last season from the 2023 football season week three when Georgia is down 14-3 against South Carolina halftime and you know heading into the season and heading into that week everybody knew that that was going to be F georg's first test that was outside of a UT Martin type of team right first test of the Year first SEC Game of the Year first Power five game of the year and you know the projection is that Georg is going to win pretty soundly even though the South Carolina team had a little bit more hype the South Carolina team uh you know was thought to be a better version Georgia down 14 through halftime and it's surprising and when you're a leader like Kirby in a room full of people that are really good at something that are excellent at something that are the best at something which is what they were with Georgia a bunch of four and five star players a bunch of national champion players some of them back-to-back National Championship players what do you tell that group of people when they're getting you know ex they're getting their butts kicked by by South Carolina by a team that's not as good as what do you tell that group of people well he decided to tell them that they had to win one moment at a time and I think that that that's going to have to be a theme for the 2024 Georgia Bulldogs it's often in the games against the South Carolinas of the world against the Missouri of the world the Kent States the Georgia Techs where I almost feel like I learn more about Georgia sometimes sometimes that can be the case and you can learn about a team every single game that it plays you can learn about a program after every single game that it plays but I feel that I learned some of the biggest lessons in the games against opponents that they are definitely supposed to win you could take away lessons from the Oregon game two years ago what was my takea away from that game it was that holy crap georg's offense is really good and this team's going to beat the crap out of a lot of teams you know but then you go to the Missouri game in 2022 and what did it teach us that this Georgia team that that Georgia team wasn't perfect but it was capable of fighting out of a really bad situation and getting out of a situation winning in big moments winning those moments in the fourth quarter winning moments right before halftime that's what I learned about that Georgia team in 2022 and there's going to be a game at some point this year I'm sure where Georg is going to be required to win some moments to win the football game or lose the football game right that's it's going to happen at some Georgia losing is going to have in the regular season is going to Happ at some point maybe it's this year maybe it's not but getting into a situation where you have to win moment after moment that's a situation that I'm sure the George is going to end up facing at some point this year because when I look at georg's 2023 schedule and you look at it or 2024 rather this year you just see a bunch of big names and you see a bunch of obstacles for that National Championship at the end of the year you see Clemson on the list you see a road all sorts of Road trips on the list you see three rivals on the list you think about an sc SEC Championship that should be on the list for this Georgia football team I think it's going to take winning moments like it did against South Carolina in the second half where Kirby literally laid out we have to win the kickoff then we have to win the first play we have to win the first drive George is going to have to take it and don't don't uh you know mistre my words George has been doing this George's model and Kirby Smart's model for Success has been to win one thing at a time and to remember what Jake from used to say a lot and what George used to say a lot back in back uh when he was a starting quarterback and I think that 2017 season keep the main thing the main thing keep chopping wood well the first moment is not even in in the season the first moment is going to have to be once again fighting off the off the field issues that Georgia has with the driving it's going to start with that and they're goingon to have to win that moment and whatever needs to happen with that I don't know this is a slight sidebar into the general conversation but I think for Georgia it's important that they get this thing figured out I do because people's lives are at risk and I just wanted to put that out there I think that's the first moment that they have to win is how are we going to beat this again then it's going to C media days how how are we what message are we going to put out there at SEC media days what message is it that you know for Kirby do does he want the team to have and then you get to fall camp and you and you do those battles but really there's going to be moments inside of each's game but there's going to be 12 different moments in this college football season and they're going to have to win it one at a time because what did we learn about the Georgia team last year what was one of the things that was working against the Georgia Bulldogs in 2023 it was thinking about the future it was thinking about what was on the table with a three Pat you cannot tell me that a three Pat was not in the back of some of these kids' Minds that it wasn't in the back of Carson Beck's mind that there's pressure to win a National Championship and that's not going to go away that's not going to go away but the way that it existed last year where they had an opportunity to win three in a row that's gone and I do think that that was a major distraction throughout the course of the year and if it really wasn't a true disra distraction within the program was right around it because that's all the fan base cared about or and don't blame them I don't think there's anything wrong with that at at Kentucky is it's going to face its own challenges he dealing with Brock Vandergriff and then at Alabama it it this season is like a bunch of seasons there's literally like three seasons in this season break it up into September and we're throwing Clemson in there I know it's August 31st Clemson it's a big neutral sight game all right I don't think it's going to be a close game but it's a big neutral sight game Tennesse Tech throw away whatever but are they going to have moments in that game at Kentucky Alabama that's Georgia September that's a whole Gauntlet in itself having to go on you play one game at home and it's against Tennessee Tech October right so the next Gauntlet so we'll go I'm going to Clump in the Florida game with that one because there's 12 games you could break it into three Auburn Mississippi State at Texas and then going down to Jacksonville playing Florida emotional game against Auburn they do pretty well against Auburn at home it's not it's different than Jordan hair Mississippi State another conference game at Texas what I think is possibly and probably the biggest regular season game of the entire college football season and then you got to follow it up with Florida then the last last uh third of the Season Adel Miss versus Tennessee versus UMass and versus Texas Tech which one's the most challenging seriously which which third is the most challenging is it is it the last one when you're beat up already and you got go to miss you got to play Tennessee who might be really good J still out on that Georgia Tech's improving it's a it's a Friday night game it's different is it that is it opening up with Clemson and having to end it with Alabama is it that first tier or is it the middle one where you're in the brunt of everything and you've got to play probably the best opponent that you got to play all year and you got to play the Florida Gators so to me this that that message from Kirby Smart when they were playing South it was halftime and you see jaman Deus Johnson who's no longer with the team stepping up as leader you see Cedric van PR you see Javon Bor all of them the leader in the group in the room full of really spectacular people and leaders said that they had to win a moment at a time and that's what they ended up doing against South Carolina in the second half and I think that that's going to have to be the formula for this season because it is a gent and it's important that they win one week at a time win one one at a time win one play at a time I think think you're going to get that coach speak from Kirby a little bit extra this year thanks for watching
