yes we do yes we do how cool is that yes they're starting to pop up let's go all right so first question is going to be Jack from Minnesota what made you want to come out with a memoir now pressure everybody kept saying when did your book coming out I said I didn't write a book well why not and and everybody kept saying you have to write a book about your life your life your life and the pressure was like over 10e period it was every day all the time from all kinds of people so I said to my wife you do I do this and she said sure I'll help you and she helped that is awesome yeah that is awesome okay now the next one's gonna be from Alicia from Virginia Eric first off I just wanted to say that you are an incredible actor and the nature of the Beast is my favorite movie of yours oh thank you and that's from Alicia so but he's not through yet no and then are you and Eliza still taking care of the squirrels and cats like you were on Wife Swap I'm so excited to get your book thank you so much that is so nice of you thank you so much for the kind words that means so much to me you have no idea um yes we have a squirrel Sanctuary we have hundreds of squirrels and we get a big bag of nuts walnuts in the Shell from the city every month to feed the squirrels so so we're we're we're legitimate sanctuary and we have but that's not the only animal we have here we have everything but squirrels are what you'll see if you come there properly and she asked about the cats because obviously you've seen Alicia you've seen really diverse things nature of the Beast is really different from Celebrity Wife SW oh and I want to thank you for that compliment it's also one of my favorite films I've ever made it's one of my top 10 or 12 films I've ever made and I made hundreds so I love that movie and I I love uh oh go Lance Lance Hendrickson Lance Hendrickson what a cool cat what a great actor and uh he had such a hard part in that movie because if you if you know that movie and you and you watch it again you like see his transitions oh my God he's so brilliant and he was such an actor's actor to work with wow that's awesome all right the next one is gonna be from Charles from Washington hello Charles and his question was what do you do you think was your most challenging role that's an easy answer and it it was it was a biography it was called star 80 it was about Dorothy Strat and Paul Snider in 1980 well from 1976 to 1980 and uh playing playing playing a real person you have you have you have you have your boundaries and so I was hemmed into to reality I could not use my imagination I had to use facts that was hard and Bob FY took care of me like like a mother takes care of a child you took good care of my performance wow that's awesome fun little fact that's my father-in-law's favorite movie yeah it is the best dock drama ever made I'm so proud to say that wow yeah and then Charles also said thank you and love your work oh thank you Charles all right the next is from D from Oklahoma how would you describe your experience voicing Duffy and taking a cat talking cat talk Talking Cat yeah taking C Duffy the talking cat that was the easiest most fun most relaxed most unshaved underdressed job I've ever had that's so fun all right now the next one's gonna be Frank from Tennessee what is the most difficult role you have played and which character of yours is your favorite okay uh it's a tie with most difficult role that would be between runaway no that would be between Star 80 and the pope of V Village what was the other amendment to that and then the other one is is which character of yours is your favorite to play it was runaway train uh to watch it's the pope okay how fitting since your book is the runway train all right Kimberly from Virginia what is something new you've learned about yourself as a result of reflecting on your life and writing this book I hope you know how loved you are thank you so much now this sounds morbid but it's a fact what occurs you the most as you write a book about yourself even if you're just old enough to write a book about yourself alone that fact you realize as you're writing an autobiography you're going to die and you're going to not be here anymore and this will be all that's behind and it becomes precious because this is it when I'm gone they'll see my movies and they'll read my book so it's kind of precious and it's kind of kind of chokes me up actually expanding on that is there something important that you wish your fans could take away like what would what would be one thing you wish your bands could take away the one thing I like them to understand about me is I'm just I'm just a a country boy who learned how to talk so everybody went oh wow he can talk so I could work and uh I think what I want them to get out of the book is I'm not um a psychopath like I play so well uh and I play them so well because they're so far away from me I could see them so I can take aim at them when they're when they're you it's very hard it's hard to play yourself it's almost impossible actually but uh but when I can when I can when I can see a character then I can touch them awesome awesome awesome all right so we have Logan from California do you enjoy acting in big movies or in Indie ones it's all the same difference to me it's like when they say I me a I like I like married to redhead so I prefer redhead but like when they say do you like your blondes or Red Hats I like them all it's the same thing would work it's the same thing that's so fun okay then we have Luke from the UK what was your most memorable moment during the filming of the beast of the uh the best of the best the best of the best my uh well we took a week 10 days to shoot all the last fights and uh probably when I when I dislocate my shoulder and I we have to pull it back in place so I can't fight and I say papa Tommy Pap and I start scream make it's so emotional now because because the movie can't go on unless he pops my arm so that was most memorable moment because they did it so I was so in it that day that everybody said Eric are you okay he yeah let's let's make a movie but yeah and that that that that was very memorable happy moment that I actually fooled my cast and crew they're like damn you okay yeah I'm fine let shoot it was really neat Papa Tommy po Tom oh that's cool all right we have Sharon from Illinois we think it would be hysterical if you uh were in the Lego Batman movie is there any chance of that happening there a chance of that happening if you produce it all right Sharon we need you to produce it all right and then we have some last minute oh I have to show everybody out there what I'm wearing my son is my my he's actually her son my stepson but I've been sleeping next her since he was a little boy so I called him my son he has a father who I like and his father's cool so I don't want to trespass but I call him my son even though he's not but he's my favorite singer songwriter Keaton Simons and here's a shirt that's a homage to him ke ton and U just want everybody to see it I think the reason maybe that Eric that gigantic nonse just um is because uh he was thinking if he did a Lego movie or something like that how much the kids would love that uh meaning the grandkids in this case but no the kids too and the kids too yeah it so then it went kid and then kids and then specific kids is that is that what happened but I also saw my shirt in reflection oh yeah I gotta tell them about the shirt yeah okay go there are some new questions there yes all right so we have will from Canada uh you appear in many different kinds of movies some of them political do your personal political views have any influence on what type of roles you will or will not accept of course they do but I have played many people that are not of my political persuasion believe me lots in fact most because I play bad guys and I consider bad guys to be none of my political persuasion but anyway uh uh all the time to answer your question sure right usually the way you justify that is if the movie makes the right point and you're playing the wrong person uh in order to make the right point you do it anyway because you know you certainly don't want want to actually promote things that you don't believe in and our basic overview is kindness that's it kindness and understanding in whatever form that can take how true that is all right we have Patrick from Missouri hey Patrick how difficult uh was it to play the troubled real life character Paul Snider and Bob foss's star 80 well we were talking about that uh Patrick it it was the hardest job I've ever had one one of the two or three hardest jobs I've ever had and uh what was hard about it uh well I had I had real boundaries and that I could not use you my imagination to to like show things I had to show the way he would do them and so I was confined but to to to stay in true the character it was very hard but at a great leader I had Basi who is a great great leader it's uh it's an overused and abused word but he was a genius and once you work with a genius you know two things that you're not one and that they're hard to find and I've only met two he's one of them wow and I'm old dude but still young at heart all right we have Nigel from the UK hi Nigel Eric as one of the most pfic actors in Hollywood what project do you regret turning down in cheers I you never turned one down that I regret have I tell um I think Cliff I think you should have done Cliffhanger I'm still M you yeah well I I it was it was it was it was a scheduling conflict yeah yeah I I always or SL I was I was always a big fan and he offered me stuff like every other year but I was I was only available when we finally got to um to the specialist which is a great movie there was one thing that happened that's being remedied now which is that Eric was offered Dancing with the Stars in 2005 and um and we're all to it was secret for a long time yeah it's a big secret up until three days ago her friend Allan liter like oh my God anyway it's yeah we don't have to go to rehearsals all hooded and hidden anymore um and the the um the production he was doing in China DOA Jimmy Presley would not let him go for the one day he needed to be in LA and he didn't even end up working that day so he was forced to turn it down and guess what now here we are 19 years later and he's doing it two titanium hips later yeah it's a big difference in my whole process it would be a chapter in the book for sure if it happened wouldn't that be cool amazing we have to talk to Sam Cas dend go ahead all right so we have Peggy from Texas hey Peggy from Texas and all your travels which country did you enjoy best and who is your favorite co-star okay it all depends on what you're after if you're after history and food it's Rome but if you're after natural beauty and solitude it's C Breton Nova Scotia so it depends on what you're after because this whole world is just it's a diamond there's so many beautiful perfect incredible things to see and eat and find and enjoy but those two places are my extremes for like big and cool it's Rome and for small intimate it's Cape Brett Nova Scotia but there are hundreds of other places just as nice I'm sure and your favorite co-star and my favorite co-star I married her that's awesome all right we have Tanner from Indiana any advice to a new actor in the industry yeah and I was told this but I didn't understand it now I understand it so I'm going to pass it on in a way that I hope is understood you know by guys like young Eric Roberts is who didn't understand it here's what it is you have to treat everybody everybody you meet like they're going to be your boss next week because they might be and not only that if you don't stay humble people won't help if you're proud and strong ready to go people get a little H I don't know but if you're if you're I'll wait when when whenever it's time I'll wait because I'm humble and I'm and and I'm just getting ready you have to almost present yourself in a sub servient type posture and uh because you need everything they only need you so so and uh so just be nice to everybody as if it's a last on Earth that's my advice to young actors that is some amazing advice all right we have two questions left and then we'll get to the the fan favorite question so Cara from Arizona how who who from Arizona Cara hey Cara how was working on how was it working on the sets of suits that was one of the hardest most professional jobs I've ever had it was so Pro because of the crew the crew was perfect the cast was perfect in their behavior and they're addressing their jobs they're perfect uh the hard part was we only speak in monologues to each other we only speak in speeches and they would hand you rewrites every 10 minutes so you're learning lines all day long and it's hard dude to learn a speech that you just handed and you're going to shoot it in exactly 600 seconds okay and it's frightening dude and I'm a chicken I get nervous and uh and uh and uh I would turn to who who was who was who was the Gabe I turn to gab Gabel what do I do he said suffer like all of us it was so funny and yeah it was work man it was real work but that show was so good the uh the directors were fabulous the uh the crew was fabulous and Gabriel's just cool man gabri's a cool cat good actor fun guy to know fun guy to work with it was a fun ass time and we got to where those expensive beautiful clothes oh my God we're all overdressed it was really fun they do have some really nice SE in that don't they do don't they yeah my ties alone like 1,200 bucks what what yeah I know crazy stuff the last question is gonna be Brian from Tennessee is there anything you shared in your book that you were nervous to make public oh yeah like half of it ca because I I don't I I haven't lived my my on my life as a preacher and U and so when I when I really reflect on what I've done it's like oh I did that she said you sure did you're like well how do I write about just tell the truth I don't think I don't want to if you taking this on you have to tell the truth I'm like can't I embellish a little bit she's like no don't do that or or I when I did this is funny I take her something I WR how's this she you exaggerate your ass off she say sorry yeah it was it was it was a trial because you go through yourself with all your and I have lots of oh it's okay it is okay I I have lots of so so you know when you and she just she kept me on track you know nope you know that's yeah but it's good and it's bullshitting so we did a lot of that we did a lot of that all right so this is going to be just quick rapid questions we're throwing at y'all okay I'm listening hell so where were yall born born yep the Lexi Mississippi New York City nice all right who would you want to play you in a movie my wife [Laughter] no okay so the ones who who played your son and really looked like you or Matt R and Shiloh Fernandez yeah I would I would go for Matt R because Matt's an old dear friend of us Jonathan Rees Meers um there's a few who kind of really they really Eric played the older Channing Tatum once but um I don't know if that would work um Channing and I grew grew to look nothing alike that's sure you're good nothing alike he's a handsom man maybe on the planet he's a good look but also so is Matt R all right what was your first job my first job ever in acting or my first or my or my first film first job ever first job first job first job delivery boy okay humble beginnings yeah humble it was a humble boy well now everybody's doing that you could get that job back we work with Postmates it pays now it didn't pay then it was only tips honey it was only tips in hour what chore do you hate doing the most I can't wait to hear what he going for this I don't hate any chores I do really then why don't you fold the dish shs ever close the refrigerator all the way I didn't know that was a chore well apparently it is he flun that chore we we we have a towel rack that's next to our sink where we keep the three towels lined up and I there's no excuse It's boom it's not all folded and nice and she gets mad Eric can you have sorry baby sorry baby oh what is your biggest fear well death I mean you know once you turn 50 you're kind of preoccupied with your death and I find this as a common occurrence I find it's not just me it's it's all my friends and uh yeah once you turn 50 you're kind of preoccupied with dying because you know you have less time left than you've had before and um so what was the question my Fe Fe yeah it's it's it's affec that I am mortal and I know it and you don't know it up until you're around 50 you're you're Immortal and when I finally got mortal I got a little scared I'm not panicked yet but I probably will be that comes at 55 right yeah well I pass that when you when you get to be 55 right all right so I think I might know this but who makes you laugh the most she's funny dude she uh she she she she laughed me fun into bed for many years what is the one thing you need to have in your fridge at all times we this one frozen yogurt frozen yogurt wow any specific flavor I like the vanilla flavors and all the chocolate flavors they can be any kind of combo yeah okay okay keep it simple what was your favorite school subject uh geography geography who is the most interesting person you have met recently probably my book agent it's not here or anything no I'm only saying that because this is a big deal to me and and I I was so happy to get here today for this I was I mean it's a big event in my life man and I came here and suddenly I was told oops by the way you can't start a big event up till you sign 500 books oh so it kind of put a damp but I'm so happy I can't believe it's happening for me and Allen who's my who's my book agent is a guy who does stuff that I don't know anything about and uh and and he's and he's cool and so right now today he's most in interesting new guy most valuable new guy in my life right now yeah okay that's thank you welcome Alan I that oh Alan's here all right so for the the fans who don't know what is your middle name Anthony Eric Anthony Roberts the only the only bad part about that was my n will spell ear but nobody ever made fun of it except one guy in third grade for a minute okay yeah what is your biggest pet peeve me what holding the in the my my big what is my biggest pet peeve uh yeah well I mean he has serious pet peeves like anyone who harms a child or an animal that's not a pet peeve um I would say um you know gas prices um people who don't understand why they're up oh think I have a pet my call to be on location 8: a.m. You' be on on set at 8:30 so you arrive at 8 to get dressed to make up be on set at 8:30 I arrive at 8 my costume shows up at like 8:35 so I'm already late because I had to wait for a costume but if I say where's my costume I just God he's so demanding so you can't say anything so you just have to wait and have to let then make you late that's my biggest pet pece and that happens almost every other the only reason that bothers him is I give us fake times so if he's supposed to be on set at 8 I know the difference we get there at seven I know the difference and he thinks he's waiting around for other people but the real reason he's waiting so your real pet peeve is with me and F times she's covering it's okay that's what she does completely true there you go all right what is your favorite hobby horses all right what is your guilty pleasure God I guess eating eating out at a specific Place let's go there on Tuesday it's like a plan and it's like it's like it's like a gift to me it's like oh I I had this had the occasion coming up that's kind of my stupid guilty pleasure fascinating do you have any hidden talents I play the mouth form stupendously and uh I play the mouth trumpet and the mouth baritone probably better than anybody else or as good as anybody on the planet and uh and I do it and I do it to like you meditate when I'm surrounded by a lot of people and a lot of noise I will do it just to just to take me away from another place and uh it's for it's for concentration that I started doing it but then I got I got really good at it and they got to be to do yeah that's fun um what color is your toothbrush white and blue okay what's your okay there's probably a lot of them what's your pets names oh God we can't even can't even start there's hundreds of them we have Stevie she's a cat and her boyfriend Ste guess who she's named after and we have her boyfriend cat whose name is Wonder so you get it so we have it all rolled up Stevie Wonder but Stevie and wonder we have Harrison we clearly name our animals after after mus stars um and we would name the squirrels but we really don't know one from the other we wanted to polish their toenails so that and their fingernails so they won't sit still for that um but and we had silk and Sean those were our horses and um and then the kids they have um Pearl and Peggy so every everybody the whole family it's musicians there have been a lot of them wow um what is your favorite word encyclopedia okay I like how it sounds like what it I like you guys like you also have a favorite word I have unfavorite words for some reason the words that are just seem just so sad and it's really stupid words that seem so sad um like finished I hate that word right even when you finished signing all those books so I'm going I'm going to I'm very sensitive um I I have a lot of favorite words okay what is your or what is the last album you bought or shrinked Keaton Simons of course my favorite singing song writing guitar player uh um he's got many albums I think he's got eight to 10 albums out right now but the one I like best is called x's and y's good good title yeah wise okay uh we have four questions left what is the last gift that you gave somebody well it would have been recently I give her gifts all the time he does but we all but we also we like because since we've included one kid we include another uh my daughter is a a chef and Baker phenomenal amazing and um I Bak shop Pi bake shop but she does um she does these amazing gift baskets and also these Favorite Things cakes like she did a replica of kon's um signature guitar and present actual size of his guitar presented to him in case it it was it was it was a cake in an anvil in an anvil case and the cake looked like a real guitar what true story it was fabulous we give we use the her stuff as gifts all the time it's pretty cool oh wow all right what cause or what cause is dear to your heart child abuse animal abuse we have to protect the kids we have to protect the animals and those are our two go-to causes right away for anybody who needs us we're there wow those are great great causes uh what is your greatest achievement my marriage that's precious no it's a no it's you're not just because I have a crush on her it's because it's because your marriage is hard and you have to hold up your end or it's not going to last and you have to and it's a job and once you accept it you have to do it and so it's not like romantic fun it's like it's like I mean it is romantic when you're having fun but but it's it's it's you know it's a job you have to do well or get out and most people people get out of here yes yes yes all right the last question is where do you want to go that you have never been it doesn't have to be on this planet yeah I don't want to leave the planet baby okay um yeah I think I think we been a lot of places a tough one I know I've like Been Everywhere it's the problem there 192 countries and I was told by somebody I don't know how they know this but I was told by somebody on the road the other day that I've been to over a hundred of them countries so uh but why the question's hardest somebody I haven't been that I want to go because I've Been Everywhere I want to go if I if I if I haven't been there and I want to go I don't know it yet yeah yeah so I guess would it be fair to say that Rome and then the other place that you talked about those would be your go-to places well they're A and Z of My go-to Places and the you know the big the big the biggest city places of all the big cities I probably would would pick Rome and of all the hideaways I probably would pick you know K Bret noas scoia there are lots of other places that are just as nice those just examples okay there we were just in Menino right and it was incredible I've never been place right here in California yeah it's so beautiful it's like it's like a it's like a movie set it's so perfect yeah it's really neat go well that wraps up all the questions here um but before we take off we want to let y'all know that y'all can get his book at Eric roberts.com and if you use train5 at checkout you get 15% off all purchases train 15 it check out for a cheaper book go for it yes and what's the website where they go to get the book it's G to be Eric Roberts book.com you should say that Eric Roberts book.com if you go there you get an autograph copy who knew and he's actually really signing them himself that is for sure oh you want to hear a funny story about about a month ago the uh publisher sends over like 30 boxes of books books just hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of books I'm going to sign these for the fans okay so you sit around for a month looking at I'm saying wow we got sign off in one day it's going to be a long day I guess we are okay we sit down for a month and then the publisher shows up you know this this morning it says you why all the book signed we said because you thought we're supposed to wait we thought we were going to do it with you guys here just so you could see we're really doing it but really happy to do right right what you said all right guys well I think that's going to be it um if you want to go ahead and wave goodbye to the fans yeah this was so much fun thank you for your wonderful questions and we're just getting out of here as a lead blower start so we get it's good timing yeah thank you so much guys this really means a lot you have no idea
