Andrew McCarthy on Why He Wanted Molly Ringwald in the 'Brat Pack' Documentary

well sure it would have been great to have um Molly talk because she's so articulate and insightful about these things but you know she's in the movie quite a lot and has a lot to say already in the movie but you know the brat Pack's a funny thing it it's like an octopus it has these long tentacles you know that still reach out and you can either feel them as an Embrace or as something other you know and uh you know it's people people are different places in their lives you know so sure I mean I'd like to talk to everybody about it I wanted to talk to 50 more people but we didn't time or money well none of them were difficult most of what the biggest surprise for me of the whole process and the biggest sort of Revelation to me was how much affection we all had for each other you know CU like Rob and I When We Were Young we were very competitive in certain ways and you know he was the first person I ever met in show business and you know we auditioned for the first same movie together in the same room and so and we were not particularly close back then so to seee him for the first time in 30 years was just and realize how much warmth there was between us was a fantastic feeling and it surprised both of us I think and um and meeting David Blom and talking to him was a fascinating experience yeah I never would have there were like I said in the elevator in the movie I think there if you told me I'd be going up to David bom's house to talk to him about his article I would said you were absolutely out of your mind and so it's interesting what time and age do for you and so uh that was fascinating to talk to him
