hi I'm Austin Murray and I'm Katrina Gilbert how are you doing today awesome I'm doing wonderful I'm just super glad that I wasn't here yesterday during all that shooting fiasco yeah that was a very scary thing to have happen here no kidding just to let you guys know if you don't know already on Wednesday this campus and many other sites along a McCulloch highway were placed on lockdown after reports of shots being fired somewhere along amnicola highway this is only months after Muhammad Abdul Aziz killed five US service members in July at the nearby reserve center a tiger alert text message arrived on the student and faculty cell phones at ten thirty three warning of a nearby shooting and to stay indoors exterior building doors were locked and classroom door doors were locked as well the lockdown continued until 12 29 when the all-clear message was given for more on this story we go to Rachel Garcia who is live at the amphitheater where were you during the lockdown Rachel thanks Katrina I actually was in my business class and a police officer came in and told us that we needed to remain in the classroom I was there for about 30 minutes and I went out to use the bathroom and ask the janitor if it was okay for us to leave and he said it's recommended that we stay but they couldn't keep us here so I went against protocol and I went out and started walking all the way around campus to my car I got what I was doing and where I was going and escorted me to the media building where he knocked and I was able to go inside and be in a professor's office for the next two hours other students have similar stories well I was in choir when I got the tiger but my professor he didn't get the alert right away and someone else had to come in tell them so we just continued to sit there it seemed for like an hour well as we came up to the MTC building we ran into the front area of the building and they told us just to find a building one of the rooms to go to so we ran to the control room and stay in there until they said it was all clear I was at my internship in atomic and I was on Frasier Avenue split off of market street and we saw six cop cars for service cars in a squad car fly bias knew something's going down it felt pretty safe you know everything was secure Bruce made sure we got in quickly and securely I definitely know it all the kids in the classroom were safe because the door was locked you know the the police and the security they were effective if they were making sure everyone would were getting inside and getting to safety all students are encouraged to sign up for Tiger alerts by adding your cell phone number and Tiger web thanks for that report Rachel for one thing I'm sure glad that we made it through this week I am too I really am yeah you got something going on this weekend correct um yeah a little bit of something and that is I am getting married this weekend that's right congratulations and so exciting thank you very much well that's it for today at chat say be sure to check us out online and on Wall TV you have a great day Oh
