Forest Green Rovers striker Jon Parkin ahead of Altrincham at home

[Music] right John um start off with last Saturday's big game at chelam what were your overall thoughts on the the big El gloso Derby uh I think after the game we're a little disappointed to be honest I think uh I think we were the better side and uh obviously have missed a penalty which which would have won as a game uh so I think if you'd have asked before the game we' have would have took a draw but obviously after we're a little bit disappointed we didn't get three points you came on in the game at your place against chelam and over the two games do you think you might have a slight Edge in terms of the performances in both games even though you went behind in both of them yeah even if we have it still in material to towards the rest of the season I think uh I think the the first game we were were a little bit more tighter than than Saturday even though obviously we both drawn I think we we did better Saturday than we did at home against I think yeah and you mentioned the penalty I mean you're not you don't strike me as sort of person who's going to worry about the next one if you if you do get another penalty you just put it to one side straight away when the s that happens yeah it's one of them things obviously uh should score but it's it's like missing a chance when you when you think you should score a chance obviously just got to put to back of your mind and and hopefully hopefully score the next one yeah you did play a part in The Equalizer um were you trying to rifle that win into the net yeah I was I even shank that to be honest I so very good in front of goal where but uh yeah I've tried obviously tried following it back across go C manag to get a tow on it and obviously gots a point so it don't really matter who score yeah from from what you've seen this season and the two games get chel do you think forest green and chelon are going to be you know Toe to Toe for the rest of the season you think the best two teams in the division from what you've seen I think we'll be I think we'll both be up there but I don't think they'll just be us I think there's other teams who Grims be always strong um so there's not there's not just us two I don't think I think it could be one of six maybe eight who who's got realistic chance of of obviously getting getting top but we just need to concentrate on ourselves being consistent getting grinding draws and and wins out the way and then obviously his own form's got to be got to be really good yeah do you think some of the the big games you had last season against Bristol R another game SCH stand you in good stad this season obviously you played in a lot of big games some of the young Lads here it'll be the first time they played in sort of R of 5 and a half thousand and things like that yeah it can't do it any harm I don't think but uh obviously the lads the younger Lads have got aspirations of playing at an high level so if they're going to want to want to do that they're going to be playing in front that every week so they've got to pretty much get used to it as as fast as they can for if they do progession and go on to be playing in front of 10 15 20,000 every week yeah let ask you about Forest Green in general you've been here for year coming up to year and a half now haven't you and it's it's a unique Club um a lot of people might not know much about it until recently but you think it's gradually being put on the map with you know consistently being up there in the National League yeah definitely I think I be first submit I didn't know much about it before I came uh but as you say is a unique Club but it's it's also a club that's progressing obviously we there I League finished last year we won point off top this year so I think the we can carry on progression as we are hopefully to get into the league and then take it from there where obviously get even more even more attention and you're quite well positioned to comment on this because you you've been at every level pretty much and you think forest green if you can get into the league it's sort of all geared up for that and'll be ready to kick on try and kick on again if you can get that first promotion yeah definitely I think I think over the over the years don't think there's many teams who's gone up who's come straight back down I don't think there's that much of a difference uh obviously see Bristol Rover's going up there and they're holding their own uh who else went up bar B it doing all right so it's uh as I said I don't think there's that much of a that much of a gap between the two Lees to be honest and do you see some similarities with Fleetwood with regard to the sort of coming from fairly low level ambitious chairman and they they've gone they've gone up now they're doing well to get into League one yeah definitely that's that was one one of the reasons I went to Fleetwood because CH more ambitious the manager told me what what the the plans of the club were and I and I fancied uh I fancied getting involved in that I didn't want to just Bob out B around in League one League two and just uh Creator Fizz that sort of thing so obviously went there manag get promoted and then obviously Sports W and he said the same CL got to say on this in a so it will obviously snap their hand off to to come down yeah and what's it like as a player for forest green when when you first he forest green want to sign you you have to look at a map first of all because it is quite hidden away isn't it at the moment I know there plans to move down by the motorway but it's uh hidden away and and what's it like this a place to live in stoud uh st's good yeah it's uh that's different it's quiet but uh as I said we are there there's 12 of us live together which is brilliant we have a we have a a good crack so we uh we keep each other on his toes but uh yeah I did have to have a look where it were to be honest but obviously that's the thing with football you might have to move about a little bit yeah and you you're 34 next month night John so still hopefully got fem years left in you but how how good is it to be playing in teams that are pushing for promotion trying to win things you know at this stage having got so many games under your Bel yeah as I said that's that's one of the reasons why I came down here obviously I've had to leave home where I've I've been for quite a while so it's uh but yeah the the main the main thing is what we're trying to trying to get promotion trying to something trying to move the club on which is obviously appealing to me at my age yeah and another Striker has been added to the options this week so there's already good front players here but you think it just add to the different type of options that ad panic's got yeah definitely I think obviously a few weeks back we uh we I were injured I think as were injured Lano were injured so we're a little bit short and I think with the amount of games that's coming up over Christmas and what the didn't want us to leave us shot in case with any injuries touch will we wa but that's uh obviously we need to need to get that sorted in case we we do have any injuries yeah and Brett look sharp in training obiously had a few sessions with him now as he yeah yeah looks serious I think obviously he played against us last year I think he tore us aart last year at home to be honest uh so yeah obviously he's going to come in and and hopefully can and contribute to what we're trying to achieve yeah just finally John got to mention altering at home obviously it's another big one for you but after all the hype around the chelon game is it a case of making sure the lads are fully up for it even though it's a smaller game on paper against the team WR end of the table yeah the thing is they're all they're all massive games obviously we are tired it is you know if you uh if you slip up and two you might be four points Four Points behind Shel them Saturday if we slip up and they win which obviously is is not ideal but uh every game's every games as big as each other I think to the lads I think uh last Saturday's game it's it's just still another game obviously there's a lot more attention around it with the elsico uh but far as we just did train the normal week and and and prepar the normal away so it's just a another game sort of thing for us
