meanwhile 06 and one they are winless in their past seven games they fall to 5 seven and one on the season well back now of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers who are seven- six and in control of their Destiny going into this final third of the season in the Canadian Football League we'll take a look at the stats we'll take a look at the controversial plays you want to talk about Chris strer you want to bonfire burning point and this was Kenny Lawler's sixy touchdown that capped a nine playay 80 yard drive that put the bombers ahead 2318 the first half was a defensive battle second half things opened up and there was um really the beginning of that uh the beginning of that third quarter where it was like w boy the Rough Riders definitely made some uh halftime adjustments boy oh boy yeah barleton mcbark looks like I was a little bit spooked there I'm not sure maybe maybe yeah I mean uh I'm definitely not myself right now what does that mean uh if if I look a little pale or a little flush or throwing a deep downfield oh what a shot that was to Kenny Lawler but there's Chris strer down on the ground writhing in pain uh left knee we'll get a better look at Miles Brown coming down on his knee and of course this opens the can of worms that really was it reopens the can worms I was already open on Miles Brown his hit last week on Zack Karis uh got a video breaking down all the Angles and the slow motion look so you can really that so often is worse than it can look that is a tough tough shot for Chris trer to take he did not return to the game we saw a lot of um or we saw a little bit there's Wade Miller uh outspoken of course uh following that hit on Zack colaris in the Labor Day classic and of course number 90 miles Brown again uh look lots of people out there talking about you know like FZ and set off the top um you know oh they're saying he's not a dirty player look look I'm gonna pause this and put myself on screen because this is important I do not think Miles Brown is a dirty player okay dirty player it's not something you can just throw around okay miles Brown I really do not believe is a dirty player I don't know miles Brown I've never spoken to him I've never been in the same room as him as far as I understand or know um but miles Brown look he's playing football and do I think the hit on Zack colaris was avoidable did he need to twist his shoulder into it like he did no uh you can uh have a good look at that uh on our YouTube page I got a video up there breaking it all down um but um this play in particular I don't think it was dirty either it's tough when you're when you're coming down you're kind of being taken down from behind and you're you're trying to tack you know sack the quarterback um it's tough I'm not going to blame miles Brown for for playing football see he's got no issue with it really either do I okay there's Terry Wilson warming up there's Chris trer here maybe we should get a proper look at it uh Chris trer limping back to the blue bomber sideline he did not play again so missed uh the rest of the third and the entirety of the fourth but here's a look at it miles Brown defensive tackle I think you're going to see him right there on the right side of your screen okay and he finds a way to slip through and he is essentially being taken down I don't think you can blame a player for that hit it's sucks hate seeing any player get hurt especially hate seeing quarterbacks get hurt because we should protect them there was nothing wrong with that play okay tell your friends tell your friends because there was a lot said this week about the Regina media the Winnipeg media homerism all this stuff okay I call it like I see it right I try to be as objective as I can I did have an issue with the miles Brown hit on Zack colar in the Labor Day classic I did not have an issue with this hit from Miles Brown on Chris trer what say you hit up the live chat hit that thumbs up if you haven't yet uh there is head coach Cory mace talking to Miles Brown following that play um offsetting penalties on this it was uh Blue Bombers backup offensive lineman Micah vanterpool playing his second game in blue and gold this season um sh was in good spirits after the game so that is positive I don't think this is a serious injury as in you know potentially season ending or whatever but that's a painful one and uh there was a lot of reviews and that sort of thing for uh pass interference downfield and offensive pass interference potentially um but in the end it was mik vanterpool who had the offsetting penalty uh that ended up bumping the Blue Bombers back but um this was uh this is one of those plays people are going to want to talk about there's there's going to be a lot of people having a lot of opinions uh just based on on my uh Twitter and uh um you know uh Instagram and uh YouTube comments over the last over the last um you know week There's Chris trer being helped off uh or going to the tent to to get a proper um look at his at his knee uh Doug mcfadzen hope I'm pronouncing that right yeah he has to have more control of his body I I get that um but I don't think he could have done much more in this situation Phyllis he needs supplemental discipline there was a penalty called on the play and he had his whole body to tackle didn't need to Target the knees I disagree with that you know I respect everybody's opinion I do disagree with that he was being taken down um look we'll go back and and and take another look at it here okay um here's a look in at uh at Miles Brown coming from the middle of the line number 90 I think here he is right there pushing through and look at that moment right here this isn't he he it's not like look you see that right there that's the offensive lineman's hand on his hip happens on every play there's holding on every play in pro football okay I don't care what league you're talking about and don't give me this well the CFL doesn't do these things the NFL doesn't do no it's all the same he's being taken down by the offensive lineman he is going to the ground this is his left leg look at his leg this is his leg that's uh horizontal to the turf right here if you can see my mouse okay he does everything he can to tackle Chris trer as high as possible as high as possible this stinks I feel for Chris strer it's just one of those things it happens um but I had no issue with it uh uh let me know your thoughts in the comments um and great to see everybody uh debating it um yeah Sasha I'm on the same page as you I don't think he could have tackled anywhere else he was falling definitely um but there's lots of good things that was kind of a a crummy moment in the game there was a lot of good things that uh that happened as well um Winnipeg at that point was uh they did pick up the first down and I believe that led to a uh a score but I want to pull up well you know what let's look at the stats before we we pull up any more highlights let's take a look at the stats uh this is the Saskatchewan Rough Riders how come I uh let me see let me see if I can try something here I don't know why I got it like this anyway uh Trevor Harris did not throw for three 68 like he did last week through two picks both to Terrell Ford uh was 63 a half% 287 yards two touchdowns and the two picks uh Frankie Hixon couldn't really get much going only nine carries 5.1 yards per carry um and had a couple catches for 28 yards as well keian Schaefer Baker that 81 yard catch and run on the second play of the third quarter set up the Saskatchewan Rough Riders touchdown that got them back into the game uh do I got it here I want to make sure I got it to show you guys um here we go uh it put the saskat and Rough Riders up 17713 as really they uh trailed for the majority of the game this was their first lead of the game it started with uh that quick hitter and I'll just fast forward here to the big play uh 81 yard catch and run from Keenan schaer Baker why is he so wide open hey you know uh kind of making Brandon Alexander look silly there that's great Yak yards great Yak ability to take good lines and uh avoid his uh avoid the tacklers but uh Keenan schaer Baker bombers in zone coverage clearly and uh just fools Brandon Alexander there and does a great job as I mentioned weaving on Alexander to get down and set up the Saskatchewan Rough Riders first touchdown of the second half uh just one of those moments that could have led to the saskat and Ru Riders Victory but no they lose well I shouldn't say they've lost seven straight they're winless in seven straight they're 06 and one one top Samuel emilis touchdown puts them in front 1713 06 and one in their past seven games and the CFL standings uh as we looked at a moment ago very different looking standings uh than they were a month ago what a game what an incredible game let's bring in the man schnitzi how are you I'll fix up your camera as I always do man you look good you look good in that the atmosphere in front of the capacity crowd of 30 3,234 I think I have that number right uh sold out Matt house on mathson oh buddy the the atmosphere was unbelievable I can tell by your voice the atmosphere was unbelievable listen when your when your team is up 2621 by one score and the Riders have to drive the length of the field you scream your face off my friend you scream your face off yeah the atmosphere I mean it was a perfect day it was a beautiful day all right not not too hot not too cold lot lots of lots of beer flowing for people and great food and we went to the tailgate and saw you there Darren for your hit on cjob gave you your hat and uh had this new hat lots of people asking about the Hat my friend tons of people where do I get the Hat where do I get a hat and uh the bombers have now won five straight games buddy incredible like what a game like such a great game to beat a team uh two times in a row in the tfl is not easy buddy and uh we got it done and my daughter was there with me and I spent a mortgage payment on snacks for her so she wouldn't leave she got a little bored at the end but then I got her some fuzzy peaches there's no way anybody would get bored at that football game well if you're nine years old and you're not super but the fuzzy peaches man took him over the top just like Kenny Lawler took the bombers over the top today yes sir Day classic uh we talked about Tyrell Ford who is definitely now on the uh on the um you know the the Consciousness level across the league as maybe the best Canadian in the CFL today uh fifth and sixth interceptions of the season in the 20th annual banjo Bowl have him in a tie for the most in the CFL and um well you know wb's Warrior Westwood wide to the right the happy Honker the bonfire burning point game balls all those good things we're going to get to but uh from the game itself what stood out most to you in this bombers win they're fifth straight yeah you know what stood out to me Darren is they got it out another close win they have not been blowing teams out they've been winning the close ones because they make one or two more plays than the other team and whether it's uh the Tyrell Ford interceptions whether it's the Willie Jefferson block uh punt which really changed the game I thought because turnovers were a story whether it's the Kenny Lawler catch at the end of the third quarter after he had a 25 Yer this the next one he catches behind his back very acrobatically so I thought it was it was little little plays like that that that helped the the bombers Come Away with the win Winnipeg only had 280 yards of offense skatan had about 80 yards more than we did but the bombers you know they didn't turn the ball over they didn't have a big play so scaton had two huge passes bombers did not have one big play on on offense or special teams right but they didn't turn the ball over Karis didn't throw an interception and you know there were times where Karis threw the ball away where he slid at the end of the game with 105 left for Sergio Castillo to to make it 2621 and he came up clutch when he needed to and and it reminds me of the old saying uh that uh that O'Shea makes about quarterbacks is that their job is to win the game and Zack clar is he wasn't spectacular today but he did enough to win the game so I thought I thought the bombers did the little things it wasn't super pretty but they won the turnover battle three zip look with the two interceptions I I I agree with you and and sorry to interrupt you I I do apologize the the conversation around Zack Karis look Mich o Shay wants his team to play complimentary football when the offense isn't doing well the defense picks up the slack the Special Teams pick up the slack and vice versa Karis threw for 218 yards in the first half before being knocked out of the Labor Day classic a week ago today he throws for 231 which is pretty much his yardage total in La last week in the first half okay however this was a defensive battle in the first half and things opened up in the second half he went 74 or 77.4% please and thank you I'll take that over a lesser number and 350 yards okay no picks had the touchdown to uh Kenny Lawler and a quarterback efficiency rating of 108.4 yes uh Ola averaged the numbers are way down you have a thought on clis go ahead no it's just you know I thought kis played well right and that's what if Karis if Karis had those numbers in some of those losses those close losses they had Darren you know where you know if he hadn't turned the ball over throwing ill-timed Red Zone picks the bombers the bombers would be free and clear in the west division they they would be what are seven and six so 13 games I could easily see them like 10 and three honest honestly like so this is what you need from Karis and I thought the other thing the bombers did really well because Saskatchewan is the best team in the league defensively at taking away the Run Oliva has been able to do nothing on the ground against them in three games but what they did so well today was throw the ball to Brady Olivera on second and down as a as an outlet what they used to do with Nichols and Harris and I thought that really really changed the game for the bombers they got three or four key maybe pull up Al Vera's catches because I think he had 60 yards uh catching the ball out of the back field and I don't know how many second Downs it looked like he had three or four and I thought that was really key for the bombers to keep the chains moving against a good pass rush with Kendall Randolph on left tackle in a place where he doesn't usually play they you know get the ball out quick six catches seven targets six yards so 10 yards per catch three second down conversions uh a large of 18 and uh 56 Yak right it's the checkdown game okay it's the checkdown game if 56 of his 60 yards were after the catch this is effectively running the football so when they're when you're when you're saying oh Brady had 11 carries are 43 yards less than four yards per carry he's not running the ball well look listen to me pulling up the the solo cam for that listen to me okay when you're playing a good run defense you find ways to get the ball in your Playmakers hands and if they're good against the Run maybe you don't just put the ball in Brady's belly and go jumbo package and and try sweeps and try counters and try um you know Dives or or off tackle or whatever do different things this is very emblematic reminiscent very reminiscent of the Paula police offense where he would run Andrew Harris as a receiver you have thousand yards receiving that one year thousand yards rushing thousand yards receiving remember that this is what you do this is game planning this is good coaching this is good scheming if you're going up against a good run defense shitzy I know you know this I'm not I'm not talking to I'm talking to everybody out there Brady doesn't have any rushing touchdowns he didn't run the ball well he had six catches for 60 yards and 56 of those yards came after the catch that is running the football that's how you get it done kudos to Buck Pierce for a great game plan today to find ways to uh to to make it work and isn't it crazy that the bombers like what's your reaction when you hear that the bombers had 200 0 yards of offense in the whole game that is usually not enough to get it done but when you block a punt and you get two interceptions that is enough to win in the CFL if you're if you're you know they only gave up two touchdown drives the defense did enough but 280 yards is not very much in the CFL so in some ways it's kind of crazy the bombers won this game this was uh in the second quarter Brady Olivera with a nice 12 yard chunk that then uh led to another I I almost don't want to spoil it but hey Nick dempy uh got them into the score zone uh led to a field goal for them to take a 137 lead in the second quarter but that's what you need to do that right there is what you need to do Brady olera like I was getting text messages during the game shitzy they got to get Brady a touchdown hey I wanted to get him a touchdown yeah for sure I I get it okay I get it great catch there from Nick demsky great catch there I want to pull that back man that was nice great ball from Karis drops it in watch the Riders players converge look at that one two three four you could even say five down here okay that is good quarterback play and demsky climbs the ladder to find the spot and make the catch Darren after you show this one again a lot of people on the chat are talking about the time of possession the reason the bombers won and I think that's a really really solid Point uh if you can pull up the time of possession because I think when you have 280 yards of offense in the CFL you don't usually win and so they were perhaps just grinding out the clock and and got solid field position all night it's an interesting point time time of possession was an 8 minute spread it was 34 minutes for the bombers 26 minutes for the Rough Riders uh here it is here at the bottom of your screen okay um there we go you can see it here Sask 26 Winnipeg 34 um you know that's what they needed to do and uh it it worked really well great game plan uh great great game plan from the Blue Bombers and and just great um um execution on that game plan they you knew this game wasn't going to be easy the Riders were desperate the Riders were desperate and they're losing games by the narrowest of margins but you know they talked about it on the CFL and TSN panel or the CTV panel uh that you know the Riders are playing well enough to win and well if you're playing well enough to win um you should be winning I think is what Milt Sagel told uh um Jim Barker Jim yeah he seceded the point said yeah you're right you're right um that's a great that's a that's a TR like if you told me that quote that that if a team is willing playing well enough to win they should win and you didn't tell me who said it I would immediately know that was Milt seagull that is such a mil deagle thing to say he's like you're it was windy but it's at home it's to the South and they could have kicked the 51 yard field goal it would have been the safe decision but they go for it to keep control of the football because that would have put them up by five but there still would have been two and a half minutes left that's a lot of time so he's like guys let's go make it happen as conservative as they were a moment later like we like we showed on on the direct snap and then uh the the colaris slide when when uh the little hitch pass to olera wasn't open that was conservative football this was more risky football but calculated risk they pick up the first down and it allows Winnipeg to get that fresh set of downs continue to kill the clock and take it from three and a half minutes down to just over a minute which is a at that point yeah Five Points you say it's a one possession game but when it comes to the clock that was a onep possession football game and to me that was my bonfire burning point that decision right there because that killed the clock the clock was the game tonight that was my bonfire burning point what do you got that's a good burning point and just just to piggyback on what you're saying they make a really good point to to highlight that that Terry Wilson short yardage plunge which was successful on third down late in a two-point game like nursing a two-point lead are you kidding me like that that takes that takes guts but it also goes to show like like it's the the short yardage play looks easy from a fan perspective like you're just watching oh yeah you just kind of run forward a little bit find the soft spot in the defensive line but like for the third string quarterback to come in when he hasn't done it all year to get that first down I think that's a really good burning emotional response and what I mean by that is like I'm sure all of the bomber players were they were iate they were absolutely irate and to be able to harness those emotions funnel those emotions into a key game-winning Drive I thought said a lot about the character of this team the coaching on this team you could easily get out of hand with your emotions in that in that instance it's like when I was a kid and someone you know took a cheap shot on me and when I was playing soccer and I I could control my emotions right I just ran after everybody slide tackling slide tackling I you know get a yellow card or red card right as as as a team you have to take that energy and you have to funnel it in and they were able to harness it and and they they get the all important go-ahead touchdown I I'm I'm a you know on the executive of the football reporters of Canada uh um you know our membership is strong we have uh you know all of our our members National and uh in in all nine CFL markets and Beyond uh we even have members in the United States uh we have been part of you know this conversation uh at a distance in this particular instance but about getting these games on CTV they they should be they should not be on a you know a cable channel they should be on a main Network the gray cup should be on a main Network right channel 2 Channel 12 right uh you got all the American networks CBS NBC ABC whatever uh in Canada you have Global CTV and CBC uh those are three different companies and you know without getting into all of it this game this Canadian game that we all love needs to be showcased properly so when you have the banjo bable which is the biggest game of the year in this part of the country naor Labor Day uh up there with it too it should be on uh on on CTV so interceptions of the Season uh give him uh uh a part or I guess you know a share of the the CFL lead yeah I'm with Peter D how about Tyrell Ford absolutely the interceptions were great uh the first one was really good the second one more Johnny on or no first one was kind of Johnny on the spot the second one was uh a very talented one uh skilled one at uh that sealed the game but it's this everybody talks about Roland Milligan and the work that he does on special teams he's outstanding I'm going to have a clip of Milligan and and redic cramy battling in a second but here's Tyrell Ford on one of the fastest returners in the league Mario Alford Tyrell Ford gets it done on specials as well when he was with the Blue Bombers in his rookie season of 2022 played about 12 games had a little bit of a injury snag but Tyrell Ford played majority of special teams that season spent 2023 with the Green Bay Packers no doubt he would have been a special teamer had he made the Green Bay Packers but he was uh amongst their Final Cuts uh of training camp Tyrell Ford is my wb's warrior tonight because not only did he have one of those games that uh really showcased his skill and his ability and and you know where he belongs I think in the conversation of the best players in the CFL like this guy's got to get paid good gracious pretty sure he's a free agent this offseason too it's going to be tough um I'm with waiters most outstanding Canadian uh probably right now um yeah club host leader but um well I guess technically not club host leader but he did it with the interceptions and he does it on special teams as well uh that's why he's my wb's warrior tonight I love that DB and I love that clip because it it shows you right like it's not just the ints says play on special teams and to be able to run down a guy like Mario Alford trying to break it outside uh for a fieldside return um is pretty incredible yeah uh Mike Miller had his struggles I would say first few games we get into uh the happy Honker I wanted to pull up this highlight or I guess you could call it uh low light Frankie Hixon uh early in the fourth quarter this was following their touchdown uh and then Winnipeg's or pardon me early in the fourth quarter not the third quarter um when Winnipeg took a five-point lead Frankie Hixon tore off uh a 12 yard run and an eight- yard run here's a great look at it Frankie Hixon uh was really the benefactor of a phase of the game a moment of the game look at that parting of the Red Sea um a phase of the game where Saskatchewan really threw a tendency breaker at the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and they started running the football very very effectively uh moments later here is uh here is a run from Frankie Hixon as well um this eventually led to uh a 10-play 70 yard Drive uh that brought the Rough Riders to within two they were able to to kick a uh uh a field goal but Hixon took advantage of what they saw in the Blue Bombers defense um and gosh I mean I understand like that's a tough Miss from uh uh from your boy Dietrich Nichols I mean look that's why running backs are running backs they make plays like that cut yeah that was good change of Direction yeah Dietrich Nichols job is to cover yeah he's got to make tackles but one-on-one with a running back running backs are going to win that I would say six times out of 10 um but Frankie Hixon uh really exposed not so I won't say Frankie Hixon the saskat and Rough Riders offense exposed Winnipeg's defense at moments in that game it definitely wasn't enough and I think that's why uh ball control time of possession that Winnipeg won by uh how much was it 34 to 26 uh 34 minutes to 26 minutes so winning that that time of possession battle by 8 minutes was a huge reason why Winnipeg it played his 200th game today folks not many football players especially ones that are like bashing and crashing into old lineman every single play like Jake Thomas plays almost every snap I think on defense the guy since 2012 2012 I still remember Jake Thomas in his first year remember that year folks just like this year the bombers started 0 and four their fifth game of the season they were playing the Steph Giles Le Edmonton Eskimos at the time and uh Jake Thomas stripped the ball from Giles sealing the win as the as the eskimos at the time were were driving to to win the game and uh that was 12 years ago like I got married 12 years lots of I was 30 pounds lighter 12 years ago a lot of a lot of different things happened a lot has changed since 12 years ago and who's still playing for the bombers but Jake freaking Thomas love that guy love it and at 200 games that's absolutely massive I think he's fifth fifth all time in Blue Bombers games played in his career uh I think schnitzi I think he was a fifth round draft pick maybe a sixth out of aadia University uh remember when uh like when he joined this team 12 years ago Twitter was kind of all the rage right and it was fat boy Thomas which he still has by the way yeah uh fat boy with an i fat boy yeah um and uh everyone's like oh my God you know like talk about making fun of yourself or or or uh having you know making light of yourself uh Jake Thomas uh deserves all the respect in the world for the career he's had for the um for the uh the path of where this team was in 2012 to where it is today uh as we see Zack Laris take his uh first of two knees to uh lock this one up the bombers win a fifth straight game and uh Michael Shay interviewed by TSN after the game oh there's Michael Shay giving the uh totally unrelated to sports great place but it's the morning of the banjo bowl there were there must have been one in every five person was wearing a Bombers hat shirt jacket you name it you saw it there Jersey they love the bombers here you see fans everywhere all over Manitoba especially in of course Winnipeg right but we've got great rural fans we've got people like my good friend Marne Kramer who's one of the moderators of one of the bombers forums who drives in from from Brandon every game you got people driving in from Dolphin my buddy Shane who has a great tailgate you've got people driving in from Saskatchewan Fort Capel Saskatchewan driving in for bomber games uh Jeff Richie one of our one of the friends of the show drives in from Thunder Bay for bomber games like the commitment and devotion that people have to the Winne Blue Bombers for me it is is something qualitatively different than the Jets I'm not saying people don't love the Jets but there's an emotional connection that that I think is deeper uh that's palpable with the bombers I think it has something to do with the fact that the president of the team is shaking hands like he did today Wade Miller's going up and down 128 shaking hands with fans you've got Carol Barrett you've got players that come out by the Bud Grant statue at the end of the game and uh our good friend Sandy Thompson who bought a hat last night Darren every game Drew wall Atari comes out to her uh at the Bud Grant statue after every game win or lose and she gives him an oh Henry bar because that's his favorite chocolate bar right and and she said to me yesterday at at this uh Prairie rivalry bash that I was talking about if he doesn't play in the game like if he's injured she doesn't give him the full size O Henry bar she gives him a bag of the mini O Henry bars because he didn't play and that's Sandy way sy's way of motivating him I think if you want the big Oh Henry bar Wally you gotta play next time get better heal up she says so it's just those little things where you you would never see that at a Jets game never ever see that at a Jets game uh the bombers have been around since 1930 you see people in Walkers and wheelchairs uh octogenarians at the game it's incredible buddy the volunteers it's just it's such a culture it it and I love it it it's it's part of my DNA and yours too Darren although yours you know yours is a bit different than mine right you're a reporter but man I just I love the bombers and the the reason the biggest reason I love them is because it brings us all together it just it's such a uniting force and a reason to get together win or lose and heck when you win it's that much sweeter it's the cherry on top yeah it's the full-sized O Henry baby yeah well said well talked about him with the two interceptions now the first it was kind of gifted to him Kean Johnson fell in the first quarter but the second one was an absolute game stealer he talked about on the postgame in CJ B he just he just read uh he said he he read Trevor Harris's eyes and basically even before he caught the interception was like you're gonna throw that ball okay thank you very much but then of course it's the Special Teams plays Darren like you said where where Alfred tries to go out wide and uh he takes him down because he's so fast like this is an NFL level Talent who's playing in the CFL and uh I just I just love me some Tyrell Ford he's going to get paid and now he has six interceptions which ties him with the aforementioned Roland Milligan who's a defensive and special teams demons so way to go Tyrell like honestly Darren I wouldn't be surprised if if Tyrell Ford is up there for most of outstanding defensive player even like I I think he's that good now he's probably gonna get the Canadian although schaer Baker is is unbelievable as well Justin McKinnis Justin McKinnis has been fabulous but so Tyrell Ford gets one of mine I think Jefferson if only for that punt block I think that was such a huge play in the game turnovers really were the story of this game for the bombers they they did control time possession but they only had 280 yards of offense so that Jefferson seven foot wing span on the punt block was absolutely massive I'll give him a game ball I thought Lawler made made some tough catches he was the leading receiver tonight was 64 yards especially that Circus catch behind his back it was thrown a bit behind him at the end of the third quarter and uh I I have too many game balls probably Kendall Randolph held his own at left tackle again I thought uh and I thought Brady Ola was huge catching the ball had three or four first downs today in the first half when the bombers were loading the box he couldn't run the ball like you said it's basically an extended run play and I thought uh alliva quitted himself well made guy 56 Yak yards made guys miss in space particularly one cut he had and uh I'm going to give one more game ball because uh it's it's banjo Bowl which we won we won that beautiful banjo B trophy a week like two weekends that are just will go down in in the annals of uh of schnit favorites right the Liberty classic in this one with a prairie rivalry bash incredible but Zack Karis I thought he didn't turn the ball over he had a sparkling 77.4% completion uh rate he he he had a 10 18.6 efficiency rating he did not turn the ball over he had the touchdown pass he slid when there was nothing there he he just managed the game Super well and and I'm gonna give Karis one uh should I give any more what have I interception later in the game uh so him and Tyrell Ford at six AP piece to lead the CFL 17 special teams tackles and there's still a half a dozen games to play that's incredible to hit 20 in a season which I I I imagine he probably will huge number I think Mike Miller had like 24 in his last year with the Edmonton then Eskimos um before he signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers uh and then 90 defensive plays second in the CFL I think to Tyrese beverett but watch this again uh the battle Ric cramy had in the 20th annual banjo Bowl to keep Roland Milligan at Bay like it's almost like a double team with him and and uh Freddy Griffin um like is cramy holding yep yeah are they gonna penalize it maybe sometimes holding is on every single play and uh his job is to just make sure Roland Milligan can't get to the returner uh so big UPS to uh Roland Milligan but also to Ramy uh those two guys are two of the best special teamers in the CFL Tyrell Ford's there uh Winnipeg has a lot of unsung heroes and uh that's what we like to do uh here on uh bonfire Sports is draw a little attention to um you know number you know dude number 41 two three number 44 on uh the Bombers roster right defense leading the way Winnipeg's offense doing enough right now and frankly I think they're getting better all the time uh back-to-back games against the emerging Edmonton Elks 4- eight on the season three and four on the road got that home win as well they're three and2 in the division which is better than everybody except Winnipeg and BC how about that look out for the Elks Calgary has starting to establish an identity Darren mhm they you know I was wondering like who is this team what is this team what do they do well and and I think what they what they do well is they do the little things well this isn't a flashy bombers team of 21 22 and 23 they are not lighting you up with 60 yard bombs after 50 yard bombs and five TDS like last banjo Bowl which which Zach Karis had five touchdowns there are lunch paale hard hat true blue Winnipeg team they do the little things well they outwork you they don't make stupid mistakes they're great on special teams they're great on fundamentals they're great at running the ball and Karis if he can keep this up is solid he's not gonna throw the bad pick he's gonna dump it off to Brady Oliva when he needs to for a key second down to Drew otari uh and and I just think that they do the little things well and they will they will Edge teams out that is their identity and that's their path to Victory every week they're not going to score 30 35 40 points most games they're going to score 20 23 26 and and if they can keep that DNA they can keep that Playbook going then this team could get first place in the west if they keep it going and have a home playoff game which was Unthinkable Darren at 0 and4 unthinkable two and six with the likes of the Riders and lions running away with the west division they've now won the season series against the scatch on BC and Calgary and they could then they haven't even played Edmonton yet so I'm just extremely impressed with the character of this team and I think I I I see this identity emerging that took a while because of all the young guys because of all the injuries because of the new coaches and Mike Miller and Jordan younger DB they are emerging as a hard hat lunch pail team and I love it I love it I love it well you know I'm waiting for those magic words as we bid a on another edition of game day after dark even though it's still light outside well my final my
