good evening Dr Morris injury experts let's talk about an unfortunate pukaa injury last night he reinjured his initial injury from early in preseason now if you look back at my tweet from early August I think it was August 6th it said yes they're calling it a Bersa injury but I didn't believe it was a baa injury because that's not consistent with a week toe diagnosis and he missed about 3 weeks so that tells me it was likely a moderate mild to moderate PCL sprain now the problem with a PCL is that this ligament is responsible preventing your knee from flexing backwards the opposite of the ACL which is preventing it from going forwards now when you have a PCL sprain I want you to think of you sitting on a bench uh you know like a bar stool bench and it has four legs but two of those legs are really loose so you're kind of like wobbly that's the issue with a PCL spring is that you don't know which way that leg's going to go it's really unstable some people it kind of goes to the back some people it kind of goes like this now imagine if you're running a route with your cleats into the turf or the grass and that knee is kind of wiggling wobbling that's not exactly what you like to see so when you're trying to stop and then cut on a dime using that bad leg as leverage you can't do it and that's part of the reason why he injured it again last night sea McVey basically confirmed yes this was a reinjury to his initial injury and they confirmed it is a PCL sprain so our initial fears were correct now here's the problem he's going on IR we know that but they have a buy in week six so they have two choices bring him back in week five or use the extra two weeks and bring him back in week six seven now most fantasy leagues they they start the playoffs when week about 14 so that's past halfway point of your season and he didn't really give you a whole lot last night so it's just an unfortunate injury unfortunate timing he's not going to be able to follow up his monster season with this unfortunate injury now yes Cooper cup went absolutely nuclear last night and we'll see if he's able to continue that dose and and that volume especially since he's had his fair share of injuries himself and he's not exactly a spring chicken I think he's 31 now I think we'll see Tyler Johnson the direct backup as well as Demarcus Robinson who's more that third wide receiver uh and we'll see kobby Parkinson also take over so all three of those guys are very relevant on waiver wire running tonight um for you injury experts premium members I will have an injury uh update uh and and and and waver wire running later tonight uh but in general unfortunate injury we will not see a healthy puka nakua uh truly healthy until 2025 in my opinion so this is not a player I would buy low on I'm actually going to try to sell him in leagues that I have him because I don't think he'll be able to regain form back to the same standards that we expecting in 2024 which is unfortunate news this is basically very similar to the injury that landed Lamar Jackson on the IR a couple years ago that he never returned from uh it took him the entire offseason to finally get back to 100% so this is a significant annoying injury that doesn't require surgery but does take a lot of TLC if you like this type of content do me a favor smash a thumbs up subscribe and check out some of our other stuff on our website thank you take care
