days before college game day comes to an arbor he's coached to game as the head coach he's the head coach and he doesn't have a signed contract and uh Aaron McMahon and on three are reporting on this why I'm I'm very confused by this uh the the exact quote from Michigan athletic director Ward Manuel is quote they don't I can't even read this one out loud man they don't just happen overnight there are things that have popped up but they're being worked on Chiron knows our commitment to him and we know his commitment to us and same thing with the assistant coaches okay sure Ward uh did does this matter to you do you care about this what does this mean so th this matters to me for this reason and this reason only Shaman Moore is tripping i' be I'd be absolutely damned with everything going on with this football team in this new era if I am coaching without pen to paper something and not we're not doing verbal promises from Ward Manuel W like come on man I'm not even a Michigan guy and you just can't do that that's bad business right there and then you post this picture and doggy what what's he signing piece of loose [Laughter] leaf like what is this man bad Michigan social media day yeah yeah I mean there was the picture of him signing the supposed contract back in the day but apparently there isn't a contract maybe got lost I don't know uh a couple things for me on this number one this just screams like the friend you have who's dating the girl and they just won't get married and the girl is like telling all her friends and like starting to make awkward comments like you get a couple drinks in you you're pregaming at their house you're G to go to the bar and right as the Uber's about to arrive the girl just drops some like snide comment like yeah I mean he won't even propose so we'll see and you're all looking at each other like uh like can we just go to the bar like what what are we on right now but then in reality like she's right because your boy's a [ __ ] like your boy just can't commit to anything like this girl is pretty awesome maybe he should just get a ring by now it's year nine like that's that's what I'm getting here and I get Chiron is relatively new but he's also not he helped them win a National Championship uh he he stepped up and coached games without Jim Harbaugh that they needed to win and he won those games like this guy deserves a contract if you're gonna make him the head coach every coach deserves a contract what am I even saying that's absurd to have to say out loud but it just feels like uh an indication that like this would only happen if the friend AKA Ward Manuel wasn't fully ready to commit that's my read on this one like if if if you thought Chiron Moore was going to be your go-to Superstar coach for the next 10 years you have him sign a contract and you don't you don't do an interview telling people he hasn't signed a contract so I'm trying to like do the body language PhD on this one cart but I'm having a hard time adding up what exactly it means also like is this a loud so like it if I'm there's got to be something I'm probably missing here which it wouldn't be the first time and it certainly won't be the last all the listeners out there he had a he has a contract actually in place this is just a new one right I don't know my is my dog out here coaching on listen with all due respect if my QB situation was the way it was I need some guarantees I need guarantees immediately before I even step into the big house I can't believe he was on the not on the field I can't believe this man was running through the end zone hyping up the home crowd with no contract you you would not get that out of me I would have walked out there like I [ __ ] let's go man hope y'all got your scholarship signed I don't you would honestly be a great football coach because you you trying to motivate like 90 men I'd love to see the speeches out of you I mean there there there would definitely be some I mean I would keep it real with though I'm be like this is a this massive house not sure what the ratio is here but who here likes embarrassing themselves in front of women hands everybody honest with you this would be a better question ask somebody else because I just ads are not somebody who I'm like oh like here's my list of goat athletic directors or here's my list of this and that and the third um he got his team hard ball and he got his team a national championship so like didn't didn't he like do his job so you're you're kind of alluding to where I'm headed with this which shocks me I thought your answer was just going to be the consensus public answer which is Ward Manuel's a bumbling idiot like everybody seems to think that I'm the wrong person to ask about athletic directors okay well just in general Michigan fans would say Ward Manuel is a bumbling idiot they mostly hate him he has a consensus negative approval rating I think rival fans Michigan State Ohio State certainly would agree like Ward Manuel stinks that's the public perception I'm indifferent as you are on athletic directors unless you like do something clearly disgusting morally or you have some issue here then I'll take a stance but in general like okay corporate corporate suit guy does a job whatever if he doesn't do great who cares if he does great who cares uh this is my Spin Zone on this though maybe it's time to give Ward Manuel some credit card because I word can we can we go through the history here uh he hires Jim Harbaugh like he he Ward Manuel takes the Michigan athletic director job basically at a time when Michigan football was in the doldrums and needed to be revived it needed to be revived right this is a once proud program that would gladly tell you about its history and Michigan alumni the number one thing they care about they would tell you is Michigan football success so okay that's our Baseline what does Ward Manuel do he hires Jim Harbaugh very high-profile hire at the time people were very excited about it cool big hire good job Ward five years go by it's not looking great Michigan fans wanted Jim Harbaugh gone for the most part and they won't admit that but you can go back check the receipts you can read them go blog articles you can find it there was a lot of people saying it's time to part ways what is Ward doing Ward's asleep at the wheel Ward needs to make a move no Ward held with the coach that would then go on to win a National Championship not only did Ward hold strong but Ward renegotiated a deal with Jim Harbaugh that put some pressure on Harbaugh and the whole program he made Jim Harbaugh take less money he got a staff with additional killers on it and oh by the way Jim Harbaugh feeling the pressure turned into a maniac cheater that led to a national championship so like by my count here Ward Manuel one for one on hiring Harbaugh two for two on not firing Harbaugh three for three for putting the pressure on Harbaugh to make some strategic moves that led to a championship and uh oh by the way while that was happening he did move quickly on Jaan because there was a world where Ward Manuel was gonna sit and wait with Jawan Howard and I was dreading it and that was the expectation based on what people think Ward Manuel is he didn't wait he fires they get Dusty May who I think was the best hire in the cycle so we're kind of going on five years right now of like Ward manuals resulting in good things even if we aren't giving him credit for it uh and this while hilarious and incompetent and a great sign of the chaos that is Michigan football could also maybe be a sign that your athletic director is a killer because I'm not exactly confident Chiron Moore is a great football coach and God forbid this season with Davis Warren at quarterback doesn't go very well are we sure we want Chiron Moore for five more years like are we positive that's right for the direction of this program so I don't know I'm just I'm keeping an eye on this man because I kind of feel like Wards stumbled his way to a lot of smart moves maybe this is another stumble to a smart move stumble all right can I get a body
