football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get down field he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw in that last play getting a first down as a defense if he zoomed in on the quarterback I mean these guys they're whether they're throwing the football or running it at least they have the football in their hands every time you know where they're going to be if you focus in the defense locked and loaded understand what they were trying to accomplish doing a good job getting to the quarterback and then make those hits and make that quarterback feel you for a whole length of a game from the 44 yd line the offense snaps it on first down now on the option makes him talk to the hand good execution for this offense motion by the back forces the defense to adjust he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go holding off amazing how holding penalty will stall a drive we'll see if the offense can overcome it second down coming up they'll run the option he'll toss it crosses the 30 he got a lane lowers that shoulder delivers the blow and they're in for a touchdown they're on the board first here in the season opener huge play it's so nice to have guys that can create these explosive plays like this you hand it to him he can do the rest look at the speed look at the elusiveness get into the end zone nice [Applause] run the running game on first down now here they come again fullbacks got it and a decent gain there before the def def makes he is a weapon when he has the ball in his hand this is the type of play that decides games are you tough enough to convert third and short from the third they get him on the ground but back who blocks all the time does all the Dirty Work hand it to him let him plow ahead Palmer and get that first down are we in a Time Warp like what year is this this is 1995 but I love it because it caught the defense off guard able to get a nice one the back goes in motion got the first down and more good pick up on that one it's first and 10 from the 13 they'll run the option got some room enter to the goal line keep it on the ground and he's in for the touchdown and this offense is firing in all cylinders right now starting the year game one and creating a little bit of a pad and separation at the end of this first half but you can see why so many people are really excited about not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quarter late in the ball games they tend to turn into bigger runs he's looking to pass release to the back complete and for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs on third down offenses have their plays what they like in third and short but they like third medium third long great job by the offense having success now it's Inc coming upon the defense to learn their plays and try to shut it down throughout the game looks as if we have an injury goes to the option they bring him down and he's going to lose getting and the fullback went fully back nowhere to go that's a quick hitting play too you get the ball to the fullback you're trying to get him downhill to hit somebody fast nowhere to go that play just never had a chance a knock him down for a loss of five man A lot of times when you miss that Lineback it's about timing you don't show your hand and he gets up to the line of SCM gets right through the line makes the tackle for and as soon as the running back gets the football he's got a face full of linebacker not much you can do there like you got to have a little better block you got to up a fourth down the punt team makes its way onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away personal foul roughing the kicker defense it's first and 10 after that costly defensive penalty on fourth down moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust they pick up half of it it'll be second and five unselfish blocks the whole game give a bone every now and again well of course you like the fullbacks because you wish you had been a fullback some wanted to make you a fullback and you were first down they'll put it in play from the 33 pass the sticks and he may get more he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is hold it off if it cost this offense here as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter here comes the option one step WRA two-step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground we start the second here comes the offense on second down moving the running back trying to get the D to tip its hand quick toss and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one holding seventh play of the drive coming up but a long way to go on third down they'll Run play action and he can't escape and down he running back goes in motion brought down backs are not supposed to be able to rip off big runs like that the defense they better do a better job tackling as this game goes on the give to the back you'll take this every time ball spotted right at Midfield as they try to convert third and short he'll ride his man on the option still running at the 40 and he didn't squeeze it it's loose oh the a fumble they'll snap it on first down from the 35 25 motion trying to get the defense to show his hand picks up the first down and the defense finally makes the fullback this takes me back to my days growing up watching the fullback being on the field every single play you don't see that anymore but the big fella gets the football hey he looks like he knew what to do with it too nice little pick up they keep pushing forward now back to work on second and goal from the six EAS the run up the middle looking for the score he worked his way football trying to get this in the end zone I only got a yard to go I got to be physical and they swarm aggressive here you can put the nail in the cop and saunters into the end zone for a touchdown the second half looking El stop they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one third and long and he'll try to throw for it they get enough rush and it pays off the sack of the 20 they bring the punter onto the field now offense you got to do a better job there's got to be more sense of urgency protecting your backup quarterback you've already lost your starter due to injury now that the backup said you know you're going to have to hold on for just that second coming up here looking to throw fires to the wide out incomplete not on this play second and 10 he'll throw again feeling some heat he's not afraid to go deep and that one is picked off in the end zone and they make the play to stop the score situations the defense knew it was coming played it fast played it physical and stopped them for a big loss and that's incomplete a Defender all pre- snap Motion in the back field give to the fullback able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven when with the running game on first down now back at it they'll run the option they bring down and he's going to lose a yard on that one we'll take a break to check him out third down conversions always a huge stat and they've got a third and long from the [Applause] 27 and the incomplete pass [Applause] will5 they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust and he runs through run that clock when they got a lead you really win a lot more football games so I think you look for them to be physical down the stretch of this game try to continue to do this on the ground continue to eat that clock he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of down challeng your offensive line to go win the football game right we got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run and the ball's loose bounced right back to them you're like oh I really appreciate you brother I can't tell you how much I thank you cuz the coaches would have been all over me but Big Time Break for the offense on the option steps into the end zone for a touchdown and this kind of performance has to give this team so much confidence week one you go on you know talking to the coaches coming into the game like they thought they had a good plan they'd be ready to attack and and and limit some of the damage this offense has done they haven't done it today though they got to go back oh look out quarterback gets the first down into the end zone for a touchdown ratchet up the pressure to look at now to analyze where do I need to get a little bit better but plenty of time still left in the season to improve and turn it around so that's going to do it for us
